"Flash is Dead!" A story by Lem Sportsinterviews Jr.
The bright sun shone over the empty fields of green. Round bushes were spread out as far as the eye could see. In the bright blue sky, streams of clouds were visible over the horizon. In the middle of this empty field was a sign. The sign read "This plugin is vulnerable and should be updated. Activate Flash."
Our main character, an optimistic fellow by the name of Homestar Runner, was running through these fields. As he ran, he saw the sign. He wondered why the sign was there, and what it said. He walked toward it and read the text.
"Wo-ho! Check it out! I'm vulnerable and should be updated." said Homestar Runner. "Hey, that sounds like my dating profile!"
Just about then, his friend Strong Bad ran toward him, hyperventilating. Strong Bad was a bizarre wrestleman with a mask for a face and boxing gloves for hands. He was holding a filthy green sack as he ran. He dropped the sack as he approached Homestar. Homestar could tell he was panicking, and he wondered why.
"Homestar!" Strong Bad yelled. "What are you doing, man? This is horse giblets!"
"Horse giblets?" Homestar thought to himself. He looked around and pondered Strong Bad's words, for he had seen no horse giblets around the area. Then he looked at the sack that Strong Bad had dropped. Perhaps the sack was named horse giblets, he thought. He leaned toward it and decided to introduce himself.
"Oh, hello, horse giblets! I thought you were just a filthy sack!" said Homestar.
Strong Bad looked down at the sack in disappointment. "No, I'm not referring to the filthy sack, whose name incidentally is F-Sack." said Strong Bad, "I'm talking about the situation, man!"
Homestar, in his obliviousness, cried out "What situation? I'm trying to update my dating profile."
"Haven't you heard? Flash is dying!" Strong Bad screamed at him.
"Oh, well, good! I'm a way better runner than that guy anyways." Homestar said. He started warming up, and he was about to start running again. Suddenly, Strong Bad said in frustration, "No, I'm talking about... Flash! Like, what we breathe! The thing what creates us all!"
Homestar chuckled to himself. "Strong Bad! If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were getting a little religioso on me." As he said this, his propellor cap hovered slightly. He always wondered why it did that. His pondering was interrupted when he saw some gray bars fall out of the sky. They landed and embedded themselves slightly in the ground, pointing towards the sky.
Strong Bad screamed. "See? That's a chunk of Flash Authoring Interface right there! It's falling apart! We gotta head for the hills!"
Homestar looked around at the field. No hills were in sight. Then he looked at the bushes a few feet away. Homestar realized that Strong Bad was most likely referring to them. "Are those hills? I always thought they was bushes." Homestar explained, "But actually, I never walked a couple of feet to find out for sure."
"I meant it figuratively." Strong Bad said repeatedly as Homestar talked.
"Hey, let's do it right now!" Homestar said as he started running toward the bushes. He ran so fast, he crashed into them and fell backward. When his head stopped aching, he cried out "Bush! Definitely bush."
"Now listen. I've got enough classic motion tweens and deprecated actions in ol' F-Sack here to last us at least six months until we can learn HTML5." Strong Bad said. Homestar was trying to figure out what he was saying. He couldn't understand all of his longest words. One thing stood out to him in particular; the word "HTML". It seemed familiar somehow. Suddenly, Homestar realized something.
"Ooh, I know what that stands for! Hyper-Text Markup Lotion!" Homestar said in excitement, as he took a lotion out of his pocket. "Let me poop a little bit out for you." He said, squeezing the lotion.
"Nope, nope, nope, the land of ten-thousand nopes. Homestar, the death of Flash is equivalent to..." Strong Bad said. Then he thought. Suddenly, he thought of something Homestar might understand. "...a giant meteor heading straight for the Earth!"
"Oohhh, I got you. Sounds like somebody's asking for another heaping helping of... Deep Impact!" Homestar said, as he pulled out a DVD he also happened to have in his pockets. Homestar knew Deep Impact was Strong Bad's favorite movie. He got it for him for Decemberween every year. Strong Bad groaned at the sight of the DVD. "Why does Homestar have so many of those?" he wondered. Homestar tried to think of a good quote from the movie. He didn't remember any of the lines, so he read the actors on the back of the box.
"Strong Bad, this is Morgan Shawshank, I need you to hit that meteor with every Duvall you've got." Homestar said.
"Never mind. I'll be in Bubs' fallout shelter if anybody needs me." said Strong Bad as he picked up the sack and walked away. "Good luck with yourself, Homestar."
Immediately, Homestar remembered another quote. "I don't want to miss a thing!" he sang.
"Wrong movie!" Strong Bad, who was now a few feet away, yelled from the distance.
"Wait, those were two different movies?" Homestar shouted in confusion, "But they both came out, like, the same summer even."
As Strong Bad approached the fallout shelter, he started having second thoughts. The shelter looked old and gross, and smelled of beef stew. He entered anyway. He was greeted by the owner, Bubs. To pass the time, Strong Bad counted the bricks on each side of the building. After a few hours, he asked "Bubs, where's the bathroom in this place? It's just a bunch of canned goods."
"Well, you know what they say, Strong Bad," said Bubs, "today's Pork and Beans is tomorrow's toilet."
"And in some rare cases, today's!" exclaimed Coach Z.
"Ugh! Bubs, I thought you said this fallout shelter was Coach Z-free." said Strong Bad in a frustrated manner.
"Well, somebody's gotta carry on the human race." Bubs told him. Strong Bad screamed. "I don't want to think about words any more," he said.

- This article is about the the YouTube channel. For the website, see homestarrunner.com.
homestarrunnerdotcom is the official YouTube channel for uploads of Homestar Runner cartoons. It was first registered on October 1, 2007, but remained inactive until early 2009 when it began to see uploads of DVD versions of toons, including a few that were previously DVD exclusives. It was proven that the account is official when an alternate version of independent was released there exclusively. Most animations are provided in 720p HD, however some are supplied in 480p or 1080p.
The channel was active until December 17, 2009, and was inactive until September 24, 2014, when a new icon, a One Channel banner, and a few playlists ("Strong Bad Emails", "Halloween Cartoons", "Teen Girl Squad", "Decemberween Toons", "Puppet Stuff", and "Live Action Crap") were added. Strong Bad Emails were also renamed to include their numbers. In more recent uploads, Easter egg scenes featured in toons at the end were added, alongside fake thumbnails in order to fake an ending to the video.
On March 27, 2015, a direct link to the homestarrunnerdotcom channel was added to the main site through a button in the NavBar, replacing the old Subscribe button.
Channel Description
Cartoons and more from the website HomestarRunner.com featuring waggly, animated animal characters
like Homestar Runner, Strong Bad, and Cherry Greg. Also Trogdor! We should probably mention Trogdor,
right? Oh man, this description is getting totally great! You can even PAUSE these videos unlike that
busted old website! Also they have better quality sound! But none of those hidden easter eggs. YouTube
doesn't know how to do that yet. Hey! That's one reason to keep Flash around! ONE!
