[edit] Easter Eggs
- When viewing "Balance Inquiry" (the $ button), clicking on "0.00" will bring up a draggable credit card (registered to Lem Sportsinterviews). Clicking on the upper left corner of that card will reveal the backside of it, as well as the PIN. Inserting the card, then entering the PIN (5675) will unlock a secret section of Homsar Quotes Pack.
- In the songs list, clicking on Skate Party, DVN, and TMBG led to their respective websites.
[edit] Fun Facts
[edit] Trivia
- Typing in the wrong PIN results in the screen displaying "Wrong PIN#!! I bet you stole this card!" Notably, this will happen on the first wrong digit entered, rather than after the fourth digit is placed.
- The reflection on the screen of the ATM is the same as the Corpy NT6 email menu.
- The back of Lem's card reads:
This is a magnificent card.
Superfied Credit Union is
THE NAME in magnificence.
Of crads, at least. I mean cards.
PIN#: 5675
- There was also another version of the downloads page, available at downloads.html. The ATM is smaller and surrounded by a white border, making it identical to the original version of the menu. Additionally, the Strong Bad clock link leads to the first set of Homestar desktop icons.
- "Banners and link graphics" was originally listed under the Graphics Menu, linking to homestarrunner.com/banners/. This page was taken down when OSX icons were added in January 2004.
[edit] Remarks
- The "NEW!" tag was added to the Graphics Menu button around January 7, 2004, and has remained in place since.
- The phrase "PIN#" is a example of redundancy (also referred to as RAS syndrome): as the "N" already stands for "Number", the phrase reads "personal identification number number".
- The "exit" button links to only Main Page 7.
- The three band websites linked have changed their availability in the intervening years.
- The Skate Party's website was hosted by Yahoo! GeoCities, which was shut down in 2009.
- Da Vinci's Notebook disbanded in 2004. As of 2019, their site is no longer online.
- They Might Be Giants links to https://www.tmbg.com/froMain.html, while their main website is currently https://www.theymightbegiants.com/. The URL does not automatically redirect, but the new site is prominently linked from the old page.
[edit] Glitches
- Since the post-Flash update, the credit card can no longer be dragged to the slot — clicking it just makes it disappear, and it cannot be brought back by clicking the "0.00". Thus, the only way to access the Homsar quotes is by viewing the Flash file directly, right-clicking and then entering the PIN.
[edit] Inside References
- The PIN for the ATM is the first four digits of Homestar Runner's account mentioned in the email credit card. The Superfied Credit Union is also from credit card.
[edit] Real World References
- The homester.html file name is a reference to Napster, a carryover from the Oldest Downloads Menu which directly referenced the service in its interface.
