[edit] Transcript

{Cut to the main cast standing in the field, wearing their costumes.}

STRONG BAD: Uh, why does this feel... weird?

HOMESTAR RUNNER: What are you talking about? We stand around in the snow dressed in Decemberween-themed costumes every year. It's our thing! It's what we do!

STRONG BAD: Are you sure? I think we may have gotten our... "weens" crossed.

STRONG SAD: {clearly distressed} Can you please never say that again??

[edit] Easter Eggs

  • At the end, click Bubs:
STRONG BAD: Hey Bubs, nice Die Hard costume, man!
BUBS: Don't you call me costume man, and this is just a promotion for the concession stand! {holds up a machine gun} Now I have a machine gun.
STRONG BAD: Awesome! I'll take it!
BUBS: I didn't say it was for sale! This is for keeping The Cheat outta my bargain bin.
    THE CHEAT: {The Cheat noises} {holds up Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People}
  • At the end, click Strong Mad:
    STRONG MAD: {growls and moves in a jerky fashion}
HOMESTAR RUNNER: Ooh, Strong Mad, your animation is soooo Rankin/Bass.
  • At the end, click Pom Pom:
HOMESTAR RUNNER: Oh, Begley, Pom Pom. That is the best "last episode of St. Elsewhere" costume I have ever seen.
  • At the end, click Strong Bad:
HOMESTAR RUNNER: {slow; playfully} Say, Strong Bad, your costume's making me feel a little bit, uh... Loosey Goosey.
STRONG BAD: {quickly} Shut your face pile right now, or I'm gonna start feeling a little... {slow; playfully} Punchy Wunchy.
THE KING OF TOWN: I hope the Bumpuses' dogs run through here and knock you over!
  • At the end, click Strong Sad:
STRONG BAD: Strong Sad, you look like a deranged Easter Bunny.
    STRONG SAD: I do not!
STRONG BAD: You do, too! You look like a... pink nightmare!
HOMESTAR RUNNER: Oh, Strong Sad, I absolutely ADORE your Donnie Darko costume.
STRONG BAD: {quickly} More like Donnie Dorko!
  • At the end, click the King of Town:
HOMESTAR RUNNER: Oh, King of Town, an exquisite Devil Don King costume.
THE KING OF TOWN: No, no! I'm Mister Heat Blister! I'm Mister Hundred and One!
STRONG BAD: Uh, is that your age or your number of heart attacks?
THE KING OF TOWN: Triple that number and you're in both ballparks!
  • At the end, click Homestar Runner:
HOMESTAR RUNNER: {singing; a slight echo from his voice is heard} Do you realize... blah blah blah... that I have the most... low budget style? Do you realize...?
  • At the end, click Coach Z:
STRONG BAD: Coach Z, even though nobody wants to hear the stupid explanation for your costume, let's hear the stupid explanation for your costume.
COACH Z: Can't you guys tell? I'm the rapping paper!
EVERYONE BUT COACH Z: {groans} Oooh.
COACH Z: No, no, check this out:
    {begins rapping while a beat plays}
    Looseleaf, college-rule, legal pad,
I'm the rapping paper and I rap real bad!
Not bad like bad, but bad like real bad!
I'm the rapping paper and I rap real bad!
Let's count my blue lines, y'all!
    One... two... three...
HOMESTAR RUNNER: {while Coach is counting his lines} Hey, Strong Bad, let's try it again.
EVERYONE BUT COACH Z: {groans} Oooh.
COACH Z: Aw, if I had a nickel for every time I've been groaned off stage.

[edit] Fun Facts

[edit] Explanations

Loading screen
  • No Halloween toon was released in October 2010. To compensate, the characters are dressed up for Decemberween instead, and Strong Bad says they "have their 'weens' crossed" (the loading screen even features a jack-o-lantern wearing a Santaman hat).

[edit] Remarks

  • This toon has no back button.
  • This is the first Halloween toon to not include Homsar since his creation.
  • This, like A Decemberween Mackerel, has a higher quality sound than most previous toons.
    • The toon's "screen" is also four times as large as usual (double in each direction), again like the previous toon.
  • Bubs's machine gun doesn't have a trigger.
  • The scene inside Pom Pom's snowglobe costume is slightly different from the real scene:
    • The Cheat is in between Strong Bad and Marzipan instead of Strong Bad and Coach Z.
    • Everyone else is in the same order, but they're spread out horizontally and are not as deep vertically.
    • The stiletto heel Strong Bad is standing in is reversed.
    • The miniature Pom Pom is empty instead of containing yet another scene of characters.
  • The miniature Homestar inside Pom Pom's costume blinks its eyes. Marzipan, who normally blinks, does not blink either in the real scene or the miniature.
  • Strong Mad's costume is labeled "the Abominable Snowman", a generic name for the mythical Yeti, though it seems to refer specifically to the creature from the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer TV special, which was actually called the Abominable Snow Monster.
  • When Bubs puts away the machine gun, his arm and hand go completely off-screen, revealing another hand at his side at the same time.
  • This is the first toon since the introduction of the FeedBurner Page not to get an entry on that page.

[edit] Fixed Goofs

  • When this toon was originally released, the King of Town's costume was misspelled "Heat Meiser" instead of the correct "Heat Miser". The error was corrected later that day.
  • The label over The Cheat originally omitted the word "as".
  • When clicking on the Strong Mad Easter egg, Bubs's teeth would lower and The Cheat's right arm would raise slightly. After Homestar finished talking, both characters returned to their default.

[edit] Inside References

[edit] Real-World References

  • Die Hard is a well-known action movie starring Bruce Willis that takes place on Christmas.
  • Rankin/Bass is the production company that produced the stop-motion Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Christmas special. They are also known for their erratic style of animation, which Strong Mad emulates.
  • St. Elsewhere was a TV series that was set in a hospital and aired from 1982 until 1988. Homestar's mentioning of the series finale notes the episode's ending, where it was implied that the entire series was just the imagination of Tommy Westphall, a boy with autism.
  • There are several references to the plot of the film A Christmas Story.
    • Strong Bad says Strong Sad looks like a "deranged Easter bunny" and a "pink nightmare" in his costume, which is how Ralphie's dad describes him in the movie.
    • Strong Bad is dressed as the "major award" Ralphie's father won, which was a lamp that was designed to look like a woman's leg.
    • The King of Town mentions the Bumpuses' dogs, which belonged to the Parker family's "hillbilly neighbors" and who constantly harassed Ralphie's father. The King erroneously refers to the dogs running through the Parkers' home and knocking over the lamp; they were actually responsible for destroying the family's kitchen and eating their Christmas turkey.
  • Homestar confuses Strong Sad's costume as Frank the Bunny from Donnie Darko.
  • Homestar mistakes the King of Town for being a "Devil Don King". (He previously mistook the King for Don King in Jibblies 2.)
  • Homestar comments on his own costume to the tune of "Do You Realize??" by The Flaming Lips, whose lead singer wrote and directed the film from which Homestar's costume originates.
  • The Heat Miser first appeared in The Year Without a Santa Claus, another Rankin/Bass production. The King of Town also quotes the character's song from the movie when describing his costume.
