Each piece of fruit scores a number of points equal to the current fruit count times the current trick multiplier. For example, the twelfth piece of fruit picked up, while no trick is being performed, scores twelve points. If a kickflip is being performed, it scores sixty points — that is, twelve times five. Being hit by a pineapple or landing on the ground resets the fruit count, while making any action clears the trick multiplier.

"Time to shred some serious air with my totally gelatinous bromide Gel-Arshie!"

Gel-Arshie's Pro Fruitboarder is a mini-game by Videlectrix from Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People's 8-Bit Is Enough, starring Gel-Arshie. It is also one of the video game locations accessed via the Videlectrix Mainframe.

Gel-Arshie surfs across the screen on a board of some sort. He can jump into the air, and perform tricks while airborne. Catching fruit causes Gel-Arshie to glow, which slows down his rate of fall. Grabbing fruit while doing a trick scores more points — the multiplier depends on which trick is being performed. There are a total of fifteen trick moves.

At the same time, Professor Pineapple moves along the right-hand side of the screen, shooting pineapple slices at Gel-Arshie. If Gel-Arshie is glowing, being hit removes his glow. If he is not glowing, Gel-Arshie loses a life.

[edit] Scoring

Each piece of fruit scores a number of points equal to the current fruit count times the current trick multiplier. For example, the twelfth piece of fruit picked up, while no trick is being performed, scores twelve points. If a kickflip is being performed, it scores sixty points — that is, twelve times five. Being hit by a pineapple or landing on the ground resets the fruit count, while making any action clears the trick multiplier.

A score of 20,000 is required for maximum awesomeness. Getting too high of a score will make the game crash, but can only be done by changing the game settings through the Videlectrix Mainframe. This overly-high score will not count towards your awesomeness.

[edit] Fun Facts

[edit] Explanations

 • There is a chemical reason that pineapple would be harmful to Gel-Arshie's body. In real life, pineapple contains an enzyme called bromelain, which breaks down non-water-soluble gelatin into water-soluble amino acids. Because of this, gelatin with pineapple added will not set.

[edit] Remarks

 • Of all the tricks in this game, only tailgrab, nosegrab and kickflip are real trick names, and all three are performed correctly by Gel-Arshie.
 • 180 and 360 are also terms used in the real world, but the tricks they are applied to (180 reckless flail and 360 flapjack) do not exist, and 180s and 360s generally involve the board moving with the rider, unlike how Gel-Arshie performs the stunts.
 • After reaching the kill screen, the game can be played again with all the settings turned back to normal, but the Videlectrix mainframe of the game still appears as broken.

[edit] Glitches

 • Sometimes, the game can glitch in the PC version, and the 'Game Over' text stays onscreen after starting a new game.

[edit] Real-World References

 • The "Ode to a Grecian Urn" trick name is a reference to a John Keats poem, "Ode on a Grecian Urn".
 • The kill screen briefly shows the text "ALL WORK AND NO FRUIT MAKES GEL-ARSHIE A DULL BOY". This is a reference to a classic proverb, famously featured in The Shining.
