Kick-a-ball
This is the second time i've been able to say this in the past week, but thanks for the reversion. lol
i thought the umpire said "You're out" instead of "Stee-rike." i must have been thrown off by the extra syllable in strike. and since they only showed the last strike of the KOT's at-bat (which of course that's all they would do), that also skewed my decision. Jay's Journey
How long does it take to play? And what software do you need?-132.183.151.31 21:54, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, heh. I never timed it, actually, but it's moderately long. For software, you need the RPG Maker 2000 RTP (I'm not linking it here, but it shouldn't be that hard to find.) I don't know if it'll run on Vista. --Jay (Talk) 22:17, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Recent Changes
Is there any way to view a recent changes list omitting the deleted pages? I've already found several useful options, like when people are doing image summary cleanup, to just omit the File namespace while viewing recent changes. is there a similar option for omitting deleted pages? The Knights Who Say Ni 03:57, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

- Actually, looking at it, if you choose to hide patrolled edits, that'll do it, but it'll also hide all edits by sysops (and any edits marked as "patrolled", of course.) --Jay (Talk) 04:02, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

- 1. AFAIK, it doesn't work in Vista. I don't know the workaround. 2. You need the RPG Maker 2000 RTP, and I'm not linking to that here (search for it). 3. You also need the .exe file, which is generic. I can't remember exactly what the .exe file is called, but it should be in the Readme file. If it doesn't come with RM2K RTP, it definitely comes with RM2K itself and some downloaded games. --Jay (Talk) 01:30, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

- Kinda lost what you were saying toward the end there. That said, making a game in RPG Maker 2000 is far easier than making a professional one. The "newest version" is not necessarily 2000, and I haven't seen anything since 2000 (if you have a version of RPG Maker that properly loads Jay's Journey and runs on Vista, I'd be interested to know what it is, but I realize you didn't actually say that.) --Jay (Talk) 23:14, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

- Patience. Planning. A bit of programming know-how. And a year and a half of spare time. --Jay (Talk) 23:20, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
- PS. Had I included custom graphics and music (beyond the maybe three tracks and small handful of modified sprites), that year and a half would have been much longer. There's a reason professional companies use teams... --Jay (Talk) 23:21, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
- The worst part of using the new one is that the people who used it havent put a tutorial up yet... can you tell me how to make playable charactors... and enemies... Espemon333 23:44, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
- Like I said, if it's not 2000, I'm not familiar it. And it's been years since I used 2000 anyway. But... if it's anything like 2000, there should be a "Database" option somewhere that allows you to customize the PCs, monsters, items, abilities, and so forth. --Jay (Talk) 23:46, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Jay!
A person behind the IP Address 83.185.84.142 in Stockholm, Sweden wanted to improve the orders at Main Page 15 about Strong Bad's and The Cheat's 3 comments, but you prevented him to improve the orders at the page article. And he called you "moron", and he said disgusting words against you, and put the summary as follows: %&|-|()ę"=*¥. I agree with you, and he will stop calling you moron and he won't make personal attacks like at Main Page 15 ever again. Talk to 83.185.84.142, if you want to! --Maudi Algabban 11:55, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
Concerning Danny Lilithborne
Re: this: After I saw the edit you reverted, I had a check on Wikipedia and found him listed as a deceased Wikipedian (I knew him a tad and can confirm that he is the same user as Wikipedia's JuJube). Wikipedia tends to be pretty good with verifying that sort of thing (more so in the mainspace, but still, they try to be careful all around), so I'm forced to conclude that it is most likely correct, alas. I don't know that we have any policy on whether hatnotes like that one are allowed on userpages (I suspect we don't have a policy, since I don't think this has really come up in the past), so I'm not saying you should revert or anything, I just thought it would be good to mention somewhere that the edit was probably accurate. Heimstern Läufer 08:34, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- I just saw that on the RC and thought to myself that all KiTA ever wanted was to preserve the user page as a memorial. So even if we don't say that he unfortunately passed away, be never delete user pages. Even old ones of users that haven't edited in years. So it will still be a "memorial" in the sense that no one is going to move it anywhere. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 21:51, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- I meant no offense to anyone. Danny's passing was something difficult for me to verify, and we have a policy against editing other people's user pages in most circumstances. Sorry if I was harsher than I meant to be. :( --Jay (Talk) 03:30, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Jstone636 - spammer
I did a google search for Jstone636 and found several hits. He/she spoofed my IP address at crisiswiki.org. Have you found a way to determine the IP address of users who have an account? I have stopped blocking IPs until I can figure out a way to determine if a spammer is spoofing the IP of a legitimate user. I see you deleted the spammer's account, which doesn't stop them from creating the same account again.
- I can't determine the IP address that matches another account. I can determine yours, however, which is quite interesting. You say Jstone626 is 172.31.2.9, which "matches yours", but yours is 63.249.25.137. Also, for curiosity's sake, I was going checking over your Wiki and it says my IP address is 172.31.2.9; it is not. I think there's something wrong with your software. --Jay (Talk) 21:15, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- I get the same thing. Special:Mytalk takes me to http://crisiswiki.org/User_talk:172.31.2.9 instead of my real IP address. (For comparison, if I log out on our wiki and go to the same page here, it takes me to my correct IP.) — It's dot com 21:32, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

2011 April Fool Explanations
I wrote that sig for 2010, but the overarching joke trampled it. I had it saved to a Notepad file, though. Almost all of the sigs that would randomly appear were quotes from something - mostly H*R related - and changed to match the colors of the speakers used in the subtitles, with estimations when that wasn't possible. As it was written in 2010, any changes made since then would not be reflected - in fact, one quote is a misquote (I didn't notice it until just now), as that's what the line was believed to be when this was written, and another is just simply wrong.

Awesome
Considering that the previous version of the "Awesome" article got deleted because of a unanimous consensus, which grew as a result of the fact it didn't contain as many relatively unusual instances as my current subpage about the word does, how much permission do you think I need before I can move my subpage into the mainspace? (My subpage isn't an archived version of the deleted version; I wrote it from scratch.) BBG 20:28, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
- You need no permission to move it to the mainspace. And anyway, your page is significantly better than the old "Awesome" page, so it'll probably be more accepted. At worst, it will get another TBD notice, and you can just make your case there. --Jay (Talk) 20:42, 11 November 2011 (UTC)

Tritone interval
I was afraid it would come across that way. I almost changed "octave" to "tonal" when I was adding the fact, but i wasn't sure which one/what other word would make more sense. and regarding the b) in your edit summary, what I had in mind was that they had chosen a large interval to parallel how far apart Strong Bad was from the Of Town. Any suggestions on words to replace "octave" that would make the sentence more clear? The Knights Who Say Ni 01:49, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
- The thing is, a tritone isn't really a "large" interval. It's half an octave. A perfect fifth (which is one of the most important intervals in Western music) is larger. A tritone is considered dissonant, but in size? It's exactly half an octave. If you're trying to say something different, it's not coming across very well. --Jay (Talk) 03:11, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
- Half an octave is pretty much exactly what i was trying to say. But, let's say we give every C the exact same value. the perfect fifth, the G, is closer to C going in the other direction than the tritone, F#, is in either direction. It's as far as you can get from a C. Likewise, Strong Bad realizes he is as far away from the Of Town as he can get. The picture on the Wikipedia page about tonality (located here; particularly the inside white circle with the six sharps/six flats) says it as clearly as i can find. The Knights Who Say Ni 04:23, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
- I actually had a hunch that's what you were trying to say, but you really didn't make it clear. And I still doubt it was a deliberate allusion. It's just as likely they picked it because tritones are dissonant, and SB and the KoT really don't get along at all. Or it was arbitrary. --Jay (Talk) 17:26, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

Rampage Edit
Check your personal pronoun, I'm a girl. That was not meant pejoratively. Also, initialism is a specific type of abbreviation, whereas acronyms are also abbreviations which form words in their own rights- like LASER (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation). SS is not an acronym. Look it up! --BroncoTroll☺ 1:53, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
- This conversation would be better placed on Talk:rampage. That said, I don't see how this answers the reason for Jay's revert. An initialism is a type of abbreviation. CZ says he's bad at abbreviations. Hence, he's bad at initialisms. Note that Coach Z did not say that he's bad at acronyms, but at abbreviations, which is true. — Defender1031*Talk 02:12, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
- Your right about the Rampage talk page. I was replying to his edit summary (saying it would have been true if I alternatively said acronyms), and I agree it shouldn't be included until the matter is settled. I had put it in remarks because it wasn't incorrect, I just wanted to specify the types of abbreviations he used. I'll draft a differently worded remark and post it. --BroncoTroll☺ 2:19, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
- The edit summary was actually, as I understood it, saying that it would have been true had Coach Z actually said acronyms. — Defender1031*Talk 02:23, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
- That is, indeed, what I meant. "He" was in reference to Coach Z (who I'm 98.7% sure is, in fact, male) and not Broncotroll, so I didn't even get the pronoun wrong. --Jay (Talk) 03:53, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

- (scarred for life)^ Oooh.... CWAP! That means I didn't get anything right. :( Well, here's the edit: *Whereas Coach Z says he is "bad at abbreviations", M.C. (master of ceremonies) and S.S. (Strong Sad) are specifically examples of initialism (less commonly called alphabetism)- a specific subtype of abbreviation that is formed from and used simply as a string of initials. Include? --BroncoTroll☺ 04:01, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
- No, it's like saying that he's bad at making rectangles when he makes crooked squares, and you say that's a mistake in saying so. No, it's not a mistake. Squares are a type of rectangle. Initialisms are a type of abbreviation. If he's bad at abbreviations, de facto he is bad at initialisms. There's no mistake.
- Where acronyms got into the mix is that some people confuse acronyms with initialisms - it's a rather common mistake, in fact, and where I thought you were going with this. If he had said "I'm bad at acronyms!" then yes, that would have been Coach Z's mistake, and yes, it would be fact-worthy. As it is? No, sorry, I don't see the point. --Jay (Talk) 04:11, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
