[edit] Formatting problems

I'm not sure if templates are allowed to have talk pages, but here's my question. Is there anyway we can get the text to wrap around the pictures on the main page? Right now the store notice is stretching it out ridiculously and I've noticed it doing this before. —mibluvr13 23:08, 5 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Other than <img> tags, I can't really think of anything. --Shadow Hog 23:11, 5 Oct 2005 (UTC)

I don't notice anything unusual. The text seems to flow under the pictures just fine here. Describe what you're seeing some more. — It's dot com 23:16, 5 Oct 2005 (UTC)

I think he means how one message is 10 lines long. - Joshua 23:29, 5 Oct 2005 (UTC)
She. And of course that's all relative, because it's much less on a lot of screens. If I narrow my window enough, however, the text does start to flow around the images, which is why I was looking for more information. — It's dot com 23:45, 5 Oct 2005 (UTC)
My resolution is only 800 by 600, which I'm guessing now is rather small these days, and I'm using Firefox if that helps at all. I played around with my window, but the text doesn't flow around the image for me at least. For lack of a better way to describe it, here's a screenshot.

Oh. That's problematic. I have an idea, though. Lemme try it out... - Joshua 00:11, 6 Oct 2005 (UTC)
The problem is in the *'s, although we sort of need those... it's simply a too long message. - Joshua 00:17, 6 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Deleting things is not the answer. We need to figure out why the text is not wrapping correctly for her (and possibly others). — It's dot com 00:18, 6 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Oh, I know why. Check this out. Compare.
  • Store notice changed again: "This Fall we'll be introducing a lot of new products! We'll have a NEW DVD containing all the Short Cartoons, the Teen Girl Squad cartoons, and a bunch of other stuff. Plus Strong Bad Polos and Li'l Brudder Shirts just to name a few." And blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

See? It's that star marker. Anyway, this problem has always existed, it just hasn't been noticed before. - Joshua 00:42, 6 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Other than one side being indented and the other side not, I don't see a substantial difference between the two. They both wrap under the image beneath it, which apparently is not happening for mibluvr13. — It's dot com 00:48, 6 Oct 2005 (UTC)
The left one doesn't wrap for me either. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 00:50, 6 Oct 2005 (UTC)
The left one doesn't wrap for me... my computer must function the same way. But why? Is it because it's a Windows XP? Maybe it's Mozilla Firefox... - Joshua 00:51, 6 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Yep, that's it. Mozilla Firefox. Both wrap fine on IE. (But I'm not switching.) - Joshua
Hmm..It works for me. I'm using Fierfox, but I'm on a mac.--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 01:32, 6 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Well, we need to get it work with everyone. And there's enough Windows XP Mozilla Firefox users out there to make this a problem. - Joshua 01:42, 6 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Back before my paranoid mom made me uninstall Firefox, I remember everything working properly on Windows XP. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)

[edit] Store Item of the Week

TBC are going to update the Store every Friday with an item of the week. Is this important enough to go on whatsnew from now on? I can definitely see an indirect benefit for them and us if we put it up. —BazookaJoe 20:36, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Well, BazookaJoe, why don't you be bold. —BazookaJoe 21:05, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New toon soon?

Okay, I'm away from my standard (intentionally very low cache) computer, I know, but I don't see the "New Toon Soon" notice... Does anyone else? I already cleared my cache here... --Jay (Talk) 01:31, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

I just checked. The notice is there. —Zelinda 01:33, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
And, you see, this is why I do keep my home computer's cache extremely low! With a fast enough connection, it really doesn't make a whole lot of difference to loading times and the pages are refreshed better. Mumble grumble... editing this computer's cache size... --Jay (Talk) 01:38, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
Ah, yes, at home now, and now I see it. --Jay (Talk) 03:06, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

this template should include an RSS feed. --Y2K (15px-Crystal_Clear_app_xchat.png15px-Crystal_Clear_app_kedit.png15px-Crystal_Clear_app_email.png) 03:07, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

That's not a feature of the software we use. See HRWiki:Feeds for the feeds that we do have. Perhaps something like this feed would better suit your needs? -- Tom 22:30, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Gap

Is anyone else seeing a gap in this template on the main page? Could it be because there are two images on it instead of the usual one? — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 06:56, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

with two pictures like that it just looks weird. methinks it should jusdt have one. Superplough 07:06, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
I noticed nothing odd... It looked entirely fine to me... --DorianGray
It was good for me as well. And theoretically, the email screenshot should be up there, not Baby Trogdor. That's why we had both. Loafing 07:40, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
It looked vaguely like this:

Looking at RC, it seems I fixed that on the last edit before you uploaded that picture... :P --phlip TC 09:11, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] adding

how do i add a new toon that we don't have yet? are only admins allowed to do that or something?

Well, annony, what it looks like to me is that I can can edit it, and other logged-in users can edit it, but you can't. This means that the page is semi-protected. Someone else could give you (and me) details. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 22:29, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
You've said it as well as I could, SMB. Only logged-in users can edit a semi-protected page. Anonymous users are locked out. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 22:42, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Yup — also, brand-new users are unable to edit semi-protected pages, so you may want to create an account in case you see an update to add in the future. If you create one when you find an update and want to immediately edit a semi-protected page, you won't be able to. Trey56 22:47, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Even if you are not registered or logged in, you are still able to update the H*R.com updates page. Once that page is updated, it shouldn't be long before the main page is updated by someone else. —BazookaJoe 22:57, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] removing old to balance with featured article

Are any stats available for the screen resolution most people here use? Currently, on the main page, for my resolution of 1280x1024, the featured article ends just above the July 10 text (the second from bottom one). A smaller resolution like 1024x768 would best remove the bottom entry from June 30 only, and for an even smaller resolution, like 800x600, the featured article section is a little bit larger than the whats new section. So...what resolution should it be made for? --Mini-Geek 14:46, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

As of January 2008, 1024×768 was in use by about half the clients out there, with most of the other half having something higher. — It's dot com 19:52, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
