[edit] Using Show Preview

Hello Jellote, I see that you have made several consecutive edits to the same page. I want to point out the Show Preview button. It's right next to the Save Page button when you edit. You should use it whenever you are making a lot of experimental edits, for example when you are trying to get formatting right. Using the Show Preview button is quicker and easier than saving and clicking "edit" again, and will keep recent changes and page histories from being flooded. Thanks, BBG 04:21, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, my mind works to fast to keep on one topic. I'll remember that. My mind just flysin jumps and sometimes I write without thinking. Applying that now, --Jellote 04:26, 15 December 2008 (UTC).

[edit] Attention!

There is a userbox contest. Whoever finds my hidden userbox can use it on their page. The admin, AKA --Jellote 20:49, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

found it. — Defender1031*Talk 20:50, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
Good. it was intentionally easy to find. The next time will be hard for even those who watch edits. --Jellote 20:53, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] N b/w tilde

I happened to come across your user page and noticed that you wanted to type "ñ". Well, not only do I have it there for you to copy on your clipboard an paste on your user page, but you can also access this key on a PC with the Alt-0241 (with the numbers input by the numeric pad while holding down the Alt key) for a lowercase "ñ", and Alt-0209 for a capital "Ñ". And on a Mac, you can access the lowercase and uppercase n with tilde by the key combos of ⌥(Option)-n-n or ⌥-n-N, respectively. Accessing the "⌥" character? No idea. I just copied it from a Unicode Chart --75.28.91.38 17:02, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Wow! Thank you! --Jellote 23:45, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Nasty

Hey There, Jellote. I deleted your comment "...you nasty" from Talk:cliffhangers. Please avoid personal attacks and don't call other editors names. Thanks you. Loafing 23:32, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

When I said that, I was refering to to the comment itself. His comment was focusing on a harsh adult topic, and I wanted to point out that he not say things like that. I'm sorry if it came off as me attacking him. --Jellote 00:00, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] The Cheat Being Eaten

Why did you create a page with a {{tbd}} tag and then immediately start a discussion whether to keep it? Please only create articles that you think make sense. If you're not sure whether an article idea makes sense or not, please discuss this before creating the article. Thanks, Loafing 23:32, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

I thought that all pages needed that template to start with. But if they don't, okay. I didn't think it needed to be discussed anyway. --Jellote 00:30, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
It's technically not wrong to start an article and bring it up for discussion in one process. Loafing remarks that an article you're not sure about should be discussed before it is created, but for borderline cases, it's probably okay to go ahead and make the article. The talk page for the proposed article is just as good a place as any to discuss whether the article should exist—possibly even the best place. It's usually not necessary to do that, though. In other words, if you're reasonably sure that the article should exist, there's no need to tag it. (Rest assured, if someone disagrees, they will be along sooner or later to tag it themselves.) — It's dot com 04:31, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Calm down a bit

Hey there, Jellote, I need you tone it down a bit. You're letting yourself get way too annoyed at others in that debate over the Leg/Ledge spellings. It's just a cartoon about dumb animal characters; don't get fired up over it, please. Thanks. Catch you next time. Heimstern Läufer 23:33, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

I really don't have much of a life outside of H*R, so reality and this show are blurred. If someone ticks me off here, it is like someone ticking me off in real life. I can't help it, and I had an off day anyway. I will try to loosen up, but don't expect a miracle... I need a hobby...--Jellote 15:18, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Hmm, if you can't calm down, you may find yourself running into some trouble on this website, since we're built on the idea of friendly, collegial interactions among editors. Remember, in real life, it's important to step back and restrain yourself when you are ticked off, otherwise you're held responsible for your poor actions. It is no different online and on this wiki. Just a friendly reminder. Heimstern Läufer 15:05, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Spelling

Hey Jellote. I'll try to say this as politely as possible, I honestly don't mean this to be offensive or come across as antagonistic towards you. Your spelling is atrocious. Nearly every time you edit an article, it includes a spelling error. Use a spell checker. Thank you.  Green Helmet 17:23, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

I try my best to spell correctly. I just sometimes am pressured by annoyances (I.E. siblings) who make things harder. I am not offended at all, though. Everyone here has made a speelin' mistke b4. I hope it pleases you that I have recently taken to re-read all of my additions twice. --Jellote 17:30, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, I appreciate the extra effort of re-reading things. I can't ask anything more. And yes, everyone does make spelling mistakes, my spelling is far from perfect too. That's why I recommended a spell checker, it helps a lot to let the computer do it for you :) A lot of browsers have it built in these days, and if not the feature can often be added with some add-on or plug-in.  Green Helmet 17:35, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
I find it ironic that your original message had a typo in in. No offense, or anything. --Jellote 17:38, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Em Dash Spacing

I don't know if you've noticed, but I've corrected some mistakes you've made involving the spacing around em dashes. [1] [2] [3] Thought I'd point it out. Okay. Take the care. OptimisticFool 01:56, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Sure. Where is it parked? No seriously, thanks. I never knew there was a difference. I'll be on that. --Jellote 19:39, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Signature

Hey there, Jellote. With regards to this edit: Please always include a text version of your username in your signature so that people know it's you. It's required. Also, if you don't know anything about a topic, then you really shouldn't be contributing to the discussion. If you really do want to contribute, but have no clue, then you could always look the topic up. On 'Kipedia, for example. Loafing 00:03, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

I forgot to sign it. I went back to fix it, okay? I was under pressure. As for Fuzzies, well that really wasn't a fuzzy after looking it up, anyway. --User:Jellote 00:53, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
I think you missed at least one point of Loafing's post.. your sig (still) does not contain a text version of your username.. OptimisticFool 01:03, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Oh, that? That's just it. I have no idea why that is happening! I don't get it. I didn't try to do that. Can onyone help me? Please? This is getting annoying and bad for my reputation. Until then, I'll be careful about writing out my username. User:Jellote

Sure, "Jellote wuz here" works. Not bad at all. I like it, anyway. OptimisticFool 05:41, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Tact

Tact really is an excellent word, but I'm afraid you've been using it incorrectly. Tact is defined as "a keen sense of what to say or do to avoid giving offense; skill in dealing with difficult or delicate situations". Even if the word "tact" did apply to those edits, you cannot be tact just as you cannot be a keen sense of what to say or do. You can have tact, or be tactful, though.. and honestly, I hope that I have been tactful in this message. =] But as for the edits linked above, the word "tact" doesn't apply. There are lots of other words you could use, though. Here's my suggestion: Thesaurus.com. Start with.. professional, encyclopedic, concise.. I dunno. Here's to developing a strong vocabulary! <downs half a glass of Coke> .. =] OptimisticFool 05:41, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Userbox

Hey Jellote. Why don't you try copying all of your userbox code and pasting it at the top of your user page, above all the other text? It might make your page look a little better.--F Minus 23:21, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

I tried doing that, but luckily I showed preview or my page would have been a whole lot of crap. The sides were crunched, the sidebar was shrunken and there was a whole mess of lines. How do I make it go off to the side like that so it doesn't impede on other parts of the page? --Jellote wuz here 23:27, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
You need to put |} on the line after the end of the userbox and then it will work. — Defender1031*Talk 23:43, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll do that right now. --Jellote wuz here 12:35, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Changing tbd to delete

Hey there, i've noticed several times that you have changed the tag on an open discussion from tbd to delete, saying that there's consensus. The delete template's purpose is for tagging vandalism and nonsense pages for immediate deletions, not for closing discussions. Discussions are traditionally closed by a sysop, as they're the only people who have the ability to delete the page. In the future, please just leave the discussion, and a sysop will deal with it when they think it's time. Hope that helps. — Defender1031*Talk 20:41, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

'Kay, whatever. It's just there was no argument for it and that page was useless as is and with revisions. Sorry about that.--Jellote wuz here 21:01, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] It has come to my attention that a troll was here.

Lumpy is back? That little loser... can someone tell me what happened? What did he do? Is he blocked? I want whoever did this permanently banned! --Jellote wuz here 01:44, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

He replaced your userpage with that stupid fish and added some of them to this talk page anonymously. Nothing more. DorianGray reverted it. People can't ban IP addresses permanently, however, so he'll probably back eventually. I'm going to bed. free 01:54, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
You can ban an IP permanently, it's just not a good idea. IPs cycle to different computers all the time, so somebody else might have that IP some day, and thus be unable to post if blocked indefinitely. --DorianGray 01:57, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Apparently, he blamed you for his previous block. 'Cuz apparently his own behavior had nothing to do with it. --Jaybor Day (Talk) 02:10, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Or, you know, the person who blocked him. --DorianGray
Hi, Jellote. Yes. Lumpy was back. Sometimes that happens: we get vandals who decide once isn't enough for them. When that happens, or for that matter any time we have vandals in our midst, it's a bad idea to start yelling angrily at them or making a point of how much you hate them, or making extra notes after the fact about how much you want them banned. This is exactly what the trolls want: recognition for their dastardly deeds. We call this feeding the trolls, and it just makes them want to troll more. Instead of reacting angrily to them, revert them calmly, using calm edit summaries like "rv/v", and other than that, deny them recognition. Thanks. Heimstern Läufer 11:22, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Warning users

Your recent warning of that IP editor was completely uncalled for for at least three reasons. First, the edit you reverted was made two months ago, making it completely pointless to warn the user now. Secondly, you told the user that we had clearly told him to stop, but this is absolutely not the case. He had never received a note on his talk about this, and many anons have no idea that Recent Changes or page histories exist, so they may never know to read comments left in edit summaries. Thirdly, good faith edits to pages are never considered "vandilism" [sic]; only edits made in bad faith are. There was no way we were possibly going to block for something like this, so it was wrong for you to warn the user of a block. Indeed, you should pretty much never tell a user they might be blocked, as you are not a sysop. The one condition we tend to be accepting of non-sysops warning users of blocks is in the case of truly blatant vandals, and even then only using the appropriate template. In your case, since you've admitted you have a hard time staying calm when editing, I'd suggest you stay away from using the template, even. I'd also advise you to steer clear of anything that involves "policing" the wiki at this point; I don't really think you're familiar enough with our practices for that yet. OK. I've said what I needed to say. Just be more careful with what you say in the future and we won't have to be here again. Talk atcha later. Heimstern Läufer 16:23, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

On a similar note, please don't feed the trolls. Trying to talk back to people that can not or will not understand the process is ultimately futile, so it does not good to add fuel to the fire. wbwolf (t | ed) 01:46, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Forget about Feeding The Trolls, I want resolution!

I only want to know why Lumpy is always after ME!? Every time he comes back, I AM THE ONE who is defaced. Granted, others have too, and I don't want them ignored, but the guy targets me each time he goes on his rampage. What did I ever do to make him mad. No, really, what did I do? If anyone can find what I said that made him hate me so much, I'd feel more complete about being a chew-toy for this guy. --Jellote wuz here 14:52, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

You know, this guy reads your talk page. This is going to make him even more vicious. Besides, he's also vandalized Dorian, Dot com, MichaelXX2... free 14:56, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Sorry

I am very sorry for ripping off your page. I just wanted to have fun. Do anything you want to me, or better yet, forgive me! --FangoriouslyFotoshopStar.png 03:39, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Fangy, I was joking. Seriosuly, why you got to be so serious? --Jellote wuz here 10:35, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Because I like to. And I was very happy about you ripping off my user page. --FangoriouslyFotoshopStar.png 14:11, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Do not police

Jellote, your actions today in edit warring over the Spoons article are the latest in a long line of failed attempts to police our wiki. In the past, you've left undiplomatic messages on new users' talk pages while attempting to enforce policy, which is harmful to our attempts to welcome new users. Enough is enough. Do not police the wiki any longer. If there is a policy that needs enforcing, the odds are better than excellent that a sysop will get to it. If no one does and you're sure it needs to be done, please contact a sysop about it (we're generally pretty available on IRC, as well as via talk page). But do not attempt to enforce policy yourself. You have shown on multiple occasions that you're not ready to do so. Thank you. Heimstern Läufer 02:15, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

This is a big misunderstanding. I thought IDC was using his powers to bully other users, but I did not see what was happening in context. I felt as if he was telling me my edits were no good. I wouldn't mind, but the thing that made me mad was the fact that the page seemed like it was a vandal page, which he was protecting for the sake of humor. We already have have seen the problem for what it really was. If you take another look at the Spoons page, you'll see I understood the problem and stopped my "Abuse of Power" rant. I'm sorry if I came of as brash, rude and impatient. I'm also sorry for telling Dot Com he was abusing his power.
In addition, I know not to bring the hammer down prematurely, I just was enraged because I felt the the syopses were ganging up on me. When I attempted to rename the Hrwiki version of the spoons page, I know I was getting carried away. I jumped to conclusions that the page needed a name, so I gave it a temporary one. I knew immediately I made a mistake, but someone else beat me to reverting it. I was just on a roll, what with a huge misunderstanding. From now on, I'll let others have a chance to do their part, lest I jump the gun.
I just hope that this was cleared up, and no one's feelings were hurt. --Jellote wuz here 11:21, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
I think the point Heimstern is making which I don't think you have taken to heart yet is you haven't been asked to not "bring the hammer down prematurely", you have been told to not bring the hammer down at all. I R F 12:35, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
That's the point: I think I can do more than I can when I people contradict me. Luckily I've been away for a weekend and I have had time to realize I shouldn't have been enraged. Dot Com's been here longer. He knows what he's doing. I just need to stop thinking of my self as an unofficial syops. --Jellote wuz here 18:58, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
Bumping this section to remind you about this. Please leave the Cheergly One to us. In particular, note that while it is not encouraged to remove comments from one's talk page, there is no policy against it, so you shouldn't have restored the deleted comments. Sorry sirs. Just trying to look out for the good of the wiki, but I'll stay within my bounds.--Jellote wuz here 02:28, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Sorry about the Bricks comment

I also posted this on the talk for bricks- i didnt know wich you'd see first Jellote-- i apolgoze that my behavior regaurding your comment made you so upset. I am a new user 'tryin to figure stuff out. Your second comment explained more fully your reasons for the first, wich i took more as a derogatory comment than sympathy. I did not entirely comprehend it then, and i do now-for this I am sorry. I will try to improve this article as best I can, but if you think that it should be deleted, so be it. I have no negative opinions of you- simply a post i did not understand. Truce? Please?

Apology accepted. And I admit I was harsh. I just wanted to show mercy to a new user, like the others did to me. I shouldn't have snapped at you.

So, we're cool, then?--Jellote wuz here 14:12, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Block warning

I gave you an answer in my revert summary. Putting it back is disruptive. Posting messages antagonistic of the sysops is disruptive. Disruption is a blockable offense. This is a warning. — It's dot com 21:48, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

Yes sir. Sorry. Didn't mean to be mean. --Jellote wuz here 21:49, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Troll feeding

You've been warned about this before, but apparently the message didn't sink. Your behavior only encourages vandals to continue vandalizing the Wiki. All the vandals want is attention and recognition, and you're giving it to them. Do not talk to them. Do not complain about them. Do not keep their vandalism on your talk page to "show people that they're real" or whatever. Just revert (or put up tbd notices, depending on the situation). That's it. Anything more you do is recognition that they want. If these people want recognition, they can get it by being productive users. Vandals don't deserve it. --Jaybor Day (Talk) 02:20, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] I accuse Jellote!

Should I have been banned by now? I seem to be bossy, arrogant and disruptive. Let us not forget my constant attempts at doing the jobs only Admins should do, such as warn users, remove templates and so on. I have been warned several times, but sadly I don't know if I've learned anything. May I ask if I should have been banned, because after looking through all my prior edits, it seems I was a jerk. Why have I not?--Jellote wuz here 13:47, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Jellote, don't be silly. There's a simple reason you haven't been blocked, and anyone can tell you that: The sysops haven't ever decided to. Now, instead of needlessly pondering why you haven't been blocked, just from now on behave in such a way that it won't be an issue anymore. It's that simple.
