- The computer-generated imagery ("C & G") used in this toon is presented in the style of technology of the mid-'90s. By 1996, Mainframe Studios productions ReBoot and Beast Wars: Transformers were airing as prominent examples of CGI-animated television cartoons.

- The song's (and episode's) title reflects that of "Rockin' into the Night" by .38 Special.
- The roadie's "Zeen Crue" shirt uses the same sensational spelling of "crew" as heavy metal band Mötley Crüe.
- Larry Palaroncini conversing with Gary's guitar is a reference to the song "Yankee Rose" by heavy metal artist David Lee Roth. Larry's high kicks and jumps are also references to Roth's stage antics.
- The extra necks that sprout of Gary's guitar resemble the tentacles from LucasArts' Day of the Tentacle.
