[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2006, week 31 (Jul 31-Aug 6)

How about Analysis of Homsar's Speech Patterns? We should encourage, promote, and feature scholarly research wherever possible. — It's dot com 13:52, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

I think more people need to review and edit it before it's featured. Also let all the topics on the talk page be resolved. It may be a new kind of article, but it's still controversial and some users don't agree with the neutrality of it's POV. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:13, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
I also don't really like the idea of featuring that article before we feature Homsar himself, but that's just me. Heimstern Läufer 14:35, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
I say we do a toon this week. --Sam Goldfish 21:36, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
How about another milestone email? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 09:40, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
invisibility? --Sam Goldfish 20:42, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Perhaps, although I suggest that virus would be an even bigger milestone and more worthy of featuring. It's a whole email about the demise of the Compy and the end of that era of Email (as opposed to invisibility, which is indeed the beginning of the Compy era, but shortly thereafter moves on to other things; i.e., what SB would do were he invisable [sic] for one day). That's my thought. Heimstern Läufer 11:09, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
I agree. We're featuring Homsar in December, so let's put Analysis of Homsar's Speech Patterns shortly thereafter, perhaps January. As for the feature for this week, I wouldn't mind virus. It's one of the most popular emails out there. Thunderbird 20:09, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
With lots of links it could have. Agree on virus. --DorianGray
virus sounds good. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:40, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Wrote it with brilliance, boss. Can someone please(!) make the virus page look good before it goes live?! I will be away for most of tomorrow. Double-check the stage notes of the transcript (get rid of "The camera", "We see", make sure pan/tilt/zoom is correct), comb through any bad fun facts that leaked in, order the fun facts in the same sequence they occur in the email. Thanks, BazookaJoe 05:37, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Should we mention on the featured bit that this was the email that helped STUFF come to be? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:56, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Most readers won't know what STUFF is. Loafing 05:59, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
I debated it, but I tried to follow Wikipedia's practice of avoiding self-references. —BazookaJoe 12:36, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2006, week 32 (Aug 7-13)

I vote Bubs for the August character, which we could stick in this space. That leaves September for Coach Z, October for The King of Town, November for The Poopsmith, and December for Homsar. Thunderbird 20:07, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Sounds like a good order to me. --DorianGray
I concur. Not last place. Heimstern Läufer 07:50, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2006, week 33 (Aug 14-20)

Lappy 486? --Sam Goldfish 02:13, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Compy 386 came first and hasn't been featured yet. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 06:01, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Tandy 400 has already been featured, so I guess it makes most sense to move on to the Compy next. Heimstern Läufer 14:14, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
The Compy's been featured. --Sam Goldfish 16:17, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Strange... No one added the FA template. That's what throw me off. So Lappy it is. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 21:49, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
All right, Lappy. Heimstern Läufer 07:05, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2006, week 34 (Aug 21-27)

What about a non-main character, like Marshie or Senor Cardgage? --Sam Goldfish 01:20, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Can't decide. Both are great. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 09:57, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
"YOU CAN'T DESTROY ME..." I'm in favor of the non-main character that's been around since H*R was still in it's infancy, in this case Mr. Marshie. Thunderbird 16:03, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
I like the idea of featuring Marshie, too. Heimstern Läufer 07:06, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2006, week 35 (Aug 28-Sep 3)

Double Deuce? --Trogga 00:12, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

TROGDOR!: The first big game made by Videlectrix, and started the old-school style of games. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 06:06, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Maybe since next week is Labor Day, we could bump the Back 2 School type feature idea up a week? — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 19:44, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Nah, I think Troggie would be better. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 22:35, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Note: This is for TROGDOR!, the game. Trogdor the wingaling dragon has already been featured. --DorianGray
I think he already knew that. --Trogga 23:01, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Well we've gotta get a bit farther ahead, I hastily made last week's featured article 1 minute into the feature time. We've gotta get back to a comfortable 1 - 3 week buffer, and then stay there. I'm all for TROGDOR!. Thunderbird 00:11, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Hey guys, if Thunderbird and I are unable to do these FAs much in the future (I am currently unsure of the extent of my future wiki involvement), please step in. We need a couple more people to self-appoint themselves to FA maintenance. Thanks. —BazookaJoe 02:12, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
My recent activity is probably gonna be my new standard, perhaps even less as time goes on. I'll still pop in to watch over my pet projects, but I'm more than happy if others step in for things such as writing Featured Articles and whatnot. Thunderbird 04:21, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
How should this one be featured, exactly? It's kind of the same problem as with featuring a list. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 18:45, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
Never mind, I see that we could just do it like we do toons and emails. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 19:03, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2006, week 36 (Sep 4-10)

Something Back to Schoolish? Thunderbird 06:24, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Hmm, Crazy Go Nuts University has already been featured. If we want something Back-to-Schoolish, we could think about featuring Teen Girl Squad Issue 4. Heimstern Läufer 07:58, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
We could try a good "list" type page that we've got around here: School? Thunderbird 16:08, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
Hmm, would a list work as a featured article? I admit, I'm having a hard time envisioning it there on the main page: I see that one sentence at the top of the article, and then a partial list with the old "more" link at the end. It doesn't strike me as too aesthetically appealing. Heimstern Läufer 07:09, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Maybe CGNU, highschool or technology? --Trogga 16:23, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
I just found out that September 4, 2006 is Labor Day. It seems more appropriate to do either labor day or Labor Dabor. --Trogga 23:54, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
Sounds like a good idea to me; which shall it be? I've always found Labor Dabor funnier, but labor day stands on its own better (since Labor Dabor clearly refers to army). Heimstern Läufer 04:56, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
Ok, there's not much time, but here's what if think: Labor day toons: Too short. Something back 2 skoolish: go with 'highschool. good email, have been referenced in alternate universe, long and have many fun facts. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 06:26, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
I would prefer labor day, but highschool is good as well. And the back-2-school theme would probably topical throughout the whole week, not just for labor day. Loafing 06:43, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Highschool. Sure, why not? It's gettin' kinda late, isn't it? --DorianGray
Meh. I'm leaning towards labor day myself. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 06:52, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
OK, I'm'a go with supporting highschool. I think I see a bit more support for it than for the other candidates, so I'm going to go ahead and call this one in favor of highschool. (Yes, I know consensus isn't really clear, but we're running short on time.) Heimstern Läufer 00:23, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
Good choice. Fellow gnomes, make sure that the article looks pretty, too. Make the stage notes on the transcript look/read good/well, order the fun facts into a better-than-random system (preferred chronological order), and make sure they sound good. Have a happy week. —BazookaJoe 03:02, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
I guess there's always next year for Labor Dabor... Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 03:10, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2006, week 37 (Sep 11-17)

Coach Z? Thunderbird 06:24, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Maybe it's just me, but I was thinking of something more sober for the American users. Just a thought. -The4swordImage:The4swordssigpicisbetterthanyours.PNG 13:55, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
What do you mean by that? Coach Z is one of the first main characters dating back to the second book. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:42, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Or do you mean sober as in "Coach Z is a drunk"? Because we came this close to featuring Cold Ones last New Years, and we might do in this year instead, since the 1st is a Monday. Thunderbird 15:51, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Coach Z is good. He ought to be featured in September, and this week is as good as any. Heimstern Läufer 07:11, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
I think he's referring to the date here... September 11th. I don't see why we should take that into account for our stuff... The coach is fine. --DorianGray
Yeah, what's "sober" by that account on H*R? Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 03:11, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2006, week 38 (Sep 18-24)

How about Fourth Wall Breaks? --Trogga 16:08, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Could use some cleanup, but looks alright. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 19:56, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Hallrunner? ¤ The Dang, Pom Pom, you see that? That's a nice golbol. Talk to me. 18:32, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Fourth Wall Breaks sounds fine to me. Heimstern Läufer 01:41, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2006, week 39 (Sep 25-Oct 1)

Something real-world. —BazookaJoe 22:27, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

I think it's time to do If I Ran the Camera. --Trogga 12:50, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
That's still a bit too cartoony for me. ;) —BazookaJoe 12:56, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Maybe Harmless Junk, Inc.? --Trogga 13:07, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
That is a major part of the Homestar world, but is the article really that insightful? Need alot more information Elcool (talk)(contribs) 15:23, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
It has plenty of information to me. --Trogga 21:10, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Ok, I have an idea: A joined feature of Homestarmy and The Battle of Strong Badia. I won't mind even if the two articles will somehow be merged together. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 13:38, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Sometime in the future, with plenty of preparation (more than the 1 week we have now). I still want something real-world. I like Harmless Junk, Inc. A good-sized paragraph can be squeezed out of that article easily. —BazookaJoe 04:34, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
Is HJ OK with everyone? --Trogga 19:25, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
No. That article have hardly any info. a small opening, some dates and a boring table. I still suggest Homestarmy. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 21:21, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
It's still bigger than most pages. --Trogga 23:47, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
It may be, but still not FA worthy. You know what? try to make a faux FA page for it to put on a fake front page on your userspace. If it's big enough I guess it's alright. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 08:56, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
I agree with Elcool. The Harmless Junk article is not very inspirational. It's also most probably not interesting to first time visitors who stumbled on our main page. I suggest we feature the Homestarmy (not a starmy/battle mashup). The article is good and the Homestarmy certainly deserves to be featured. Do you has what it takes? Loafing 10:16, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
But if we do something real-world, I also suggest Matt. Homestarmy sounds OK, too. --Trogga 17:11, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
Hooray, motivation. emorolleyes.gifBazookaJoe 23:04, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2006, week 40 (Oct 2-8)

The King of Town? Thunderbird 06:24, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

How about Hallrunner? We seem to have a comprehensive guide to that. ¤ The Dang, Pom Pom, you see that? That's a nice golbol. Talk to me. 21:37, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Although I do like Hallrunner, I agree with the King. He does need to be featured this month. And no one likes him, so let's get him out of the way fast. =3 --DorianGray
I like the KoT! Get him out there fast! ;-)  Loafing 21:53, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Agree. KoT should be featured. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 22:31, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
KoT is good. Heimstern Läufer 01:42, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
