General Discussion

Say whatever right here. First question, does everybody like the name, or should we move it? Thunderbird 23:20, 26 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Nice name, but it should be moved to HRWiki:Featured Article Selection. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 03:23, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Good point. Done. — It's dot com 03:57, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Themed Articles

How does everybody feel about themed articles, such as Halloween Costumes during Halloween week, Decemberween during christmas week, things like that? I think it's a good idea, but I figured I'd throw it out there as a conversation starter. Thunderbird 04:48, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I like that idea. «Rob» 11:34, 8 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Cool. So do I. Thunderbird 02:28, 14 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Featured Toons

How does everybody feel about featuring toons? The occasional interesting one, chuck 'em in all the time, or none at all, ever? Thunderbird 02:28, 14 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I think it would be okay to throw in a toon or sbemail every now and then. Looking into the distant future, we don't want to run out of non-toon articles then be forced to focus solely on toons. —BazookaJoe 02:38, 14 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I don't see why we couldn't rerun featured articles after a long period of time (not for a year at least... I'm sure we have 52 feature-able articles). Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 04:51, 15 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Yea, I wouldn't mind featuring the Floppy Disk Container again. Maybe if it's ever significantly featured in some way. Oh well, I'll keep my eyes open... Thunderbird 22:32, 22 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Featured Template

Made this featured article template. This is my first template as well as using borders. I hope it came out alright and not too big. The image is from a T-shirt I saw, most of the code from other templates and the text is mostly from Wikipedia. I already used it on the first featured article. So? What do you think? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 15:01, 28 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Hey, sticking it on the Talk pages doesn't look half bad. Good work. Thunderbird 05:29, 30 Aug 2005 (UTC)
That's neat. I like it on the talk page. Quick question about the wording: "...which means it has been identified as one of the best articles..." Is this right? I thought that some of the articles were ones we wanted to draw attention to so they could be improved, and others were just things we kinda thought were cool. Somebody clarify this for me. — It's dot com 05:39, 30 Aug 2005 (UTC)
P.S. Does anyone else think the template is a little large, perhaps a tad overpowering? Or is it just me? — It's dot com
The great thing about a template, is that they're all easily edited. And yea, I didn't want to say anything before, but it probably would be best if it were limited to two or three lines. The wording could do with some work too. But the basic principle of a template, it's not too too bad. Thunderbird 05:51, 30 Aug 2005 (UTC)
It's a bit large because of the picture. the text, like I wrote before, is from the same template in wikipedia. [1] And thanks. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:09, 30 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Hmmmm... Perhaps we could find a picture of the approximate same size as Wikipedia's choice... I'll look into it tomorrow, unless someone else beats me to it. Thunderbird 01:38, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Better yet, there's alot of graphic artists floating around this Wiki, I wonder if we could enlist somebody to create an applicible symbol of an excellent HRWiki article? Any suggestions/offers, anyone? Thunderbird 23:51, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I resized the image to 100 pixels height, which made the template considerably smaller. The picture, is still jaggy (like before) - I think we need a better image. «Rob» 10:33, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Daily Featured Blocks (On Occasion)

I've been thinking (Dangerous, I know), and was wondering if Article of the week could easily be changed to article of the day on occasion, to run through a large block of featured articles, mainly in the case of some time in the future going through all SBEmails day by day for about 150 days or so, or something along those lines. Obviously 150 weeks would be far more tedious and annoying. It could also be used for things like each cheat commando character, all the TGS's, things like that. I'm not saying right away or anything either, if it ever happened it would probably be in the far future, once FA is a bit more settled in. I'm just wondering if it's feasable, and if anybody else likes the idea. Thunderbird 01:54, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)

I think that's a good idea if we did that occasionally. — It's dot com 19:35, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Great, good to hear somebody else likes my idea. Just a few more allies, and we might even be able to get some kinda plan set up! Anybody else into our idea? Thunderbird 23:00, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I'm all for it. Sounds like there's a lot of promise in this idea as far as featuring the things that may not be large enough for a week long run but are still good pages. As soon as we get the stuff currently in the pipeline out we should go for it! small_logo.pngUsername-talk 23:38, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Good, I'm glad to see it's all sounding pretty positive. But before we consider moving ahead with this at all, I'd like to hear either JoeyDay's or Tom's opinion on it, since they're the ones that came up with the whole system in the first place. But provided it's feasable and endorsed by the head honchos, I think we just might be able to see this happen shortly... Thunderbird 08:17, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Themed Features: Looking Ahead

I was just thinking about which articles to feature at the end of october, and came up with an idea. What about Featuring Halloween Costumes on October 24th - 30th, and then The Brothers Chaps on October 31st to November 6th (Matt's birthday). Discussion's looking a bit slow on this page, so I figured I'd just throw something discussable out there. If anybody has any other Themed features for September or October, post 'em here. Thunderbird 11:28, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Weeks 36–40

HRWiki:Featured article for 2005, week 36

Oooh, brand new feature block. So clean, so full of promise. Soo... Does anybody think we could make a good feature out of Main Pages, or does somebody have a better idea for the article? Thunderbird 01:18, 24 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Or another good suggestion, the final feature to be featured, Marzipan's Answering Machine. Thunderbird 05:49, 30 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I want to say Answering Machine, seeing as how it's the final feature. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 02:41, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Then again, with Labor Day upon us, is there an applicable article for that occasion? Perhaps Holiday Toons, since this marks the begnining of the Holiday season... I'm just throwing suggestions out, feel free to pick one of them, anyfolks. Thunderbird 04:04, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I was going to go with Peasant's Quest, but shoot, it need cleanup and we missed its one year anniversary by a month. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:16, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Yea, there's no rush. We can hold off until it's all clean and spiffy. Good choice for later though. Thunderbird 12:35, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Another suggestion, -now that it's been re-vamped and cleaned out-, we could try Sightings. Do any of these appeal to anybody? Thunderbird 00:51, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Not yet. There's still a lot of work to do. Those are some of the most neglected parts of the site. There needs to be a community project in order to correct all the spelling and grammar and comb through any of the minor or bogus sightings. Either Main Pages or Marzi's Answering Machine will do just fine. —BazookaJoe 00:55, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Sightings need to be alphabetized. They're in a random mess. - Joshua
I think Limozeen would be a good choice. No real preference, though. I'm down with whatever. —FireBird|Talk 01:13, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Limozeen's cool, but how about Homsar? I'd love to see his image on the front page for a whole week. :3 - Joshua
I think we could probably do themed features for all the characters, basically wait until just the right oppourtunity. Or something. Which now leaves:

Anybody wanna make the final decision? Personally I think Limozeen could wait and be a themed article too sometime, then again I'm not really sure if everybody's keen on too many themed articles. Thunderbird 01:49, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Until Perry Palaroncini is not on the shortest article list, I think Limozeen is out of the question. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 04:36, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Okay, then Holiday Toons, Main Pages, or Marzipan's Answering Machine? Or do we have the next three features right there? Thunderbird 00:53, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Pick something and go with it. I would prefer seeing Main Pages this week. —BazookaJoe 01:00, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Fine fine, I'll just go ahead with something then. Main Pages it is. Thunderbird 01:21, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)

HRWiki:Featured article for 2005, week 37

I'm thinking Marzipan's Answering Machine. So provided there's no negative feedback by Wednesday, I'll just go ahead and do it. Always open to suggestions or whatnot though. Thunderbird 08:20, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)

I started working on Limozeen's band members and will add much more info on them. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 10:54, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Mmmm... Good call. Don't forget to meantion how they were all played by different people for the Thanksgiving E-Cards, but all by the same person by flashback (At least, I think that's how it happened). Thunderbird 16:32, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Alright, come Wednesday, provided there's no better ideas or objections, Limozeen it is! Thunderbird 11:30, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
How about Free Country, USA? The Smoking Monkey made it all cool-like and it's as best as as a featured article should be. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:03, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC)
How about Stinkoman 20X6? Or should we wait until the game finishes?. Rogue Leader / (my talk) 22:47, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Personally I could wait until a week after it's finished, but I wouldn't mind hearing other peoples takes on it. Somehow I feel after it's over, TBC just might throw out a short based on the game... Free Country USA is also a good idea. I wouldn't mind doing FCUSA next week, and either Limozeen or Stinkoman 20X6 the week following, depending on whether or not it's finished by then. How does that sound? Thunderbird 00:22, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
That sounds good, and maybe get MAM done for this week, just to finish off the features. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 00:27, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I'm thinking we do Marzipan's Answering Machine; see if we can't add to or fix anything on Limozeen and Free Country, USA. —BazookaJoe 00:32, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
With all these good suggestions, I totally forgot about MAM. Two endorsments from upstanding Wikiers is good enough for me, Marzipan's Answering Machine it is. Thunderbird 01:26, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Marzipan's Answering Machine? It's not much of an article. And it doesn't seem to be very NPOV. In the first sentence, "even though it is actually quite funny" doesn't sound too encyclopedic. Does what I'm saying make sense? -- Tom 04:32, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Hmmm... Well I do realize the article needs work, if you'll look at the featured write up, it's somewhat further advanced, and will be replacing the paragraph currently on the article before the weekend. The revised article is about as long as TGS, which was also featured. If you feel strongly about it even after the revision, then of course we won't feature it. But it kinda feels right to feature all of the Toons categories at least once each. Thunderbird 04:39, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Much better. Good work. -- Tom 12:42, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I just did some more on it, made it more NPOV, ect. I think it's pretty good, if not maybe a bit long. It could maybe be shortened a bit for the feature paragraph. Thunderbird 03:53, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)

HRWiki:Featured article for 2005, week 38

Free Country, USA, thanks in great part to The Smoking Monkey, has become one of the best, most interesting, and most informative articles I've ever seen on this wiki. — It's dot com 02:48, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Hear hear. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 02:53, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I second the motion. Or third it. Whatever number we're up to now. This IS one of the best articles on the site. It certainly deserves the honour. --DorianGray
Hey, three nominations is good enough for me. AND it is a quality page. Very well then, FCUSA is it, Provided that Stinkoman 20X6 doesn't finish next week. Then it'll probably get bumped to the week after. Thunderbird 03:34, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)

The article is great, but the image.. I just don't think it says Free Country USA, more like Sweet Sweet Rainbow Birdge. I know it doesn't say anywhere that this is Free Country, but how about the globe with the USA shaped continent from Theme Song Video? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:56, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Hmmm... Okay, it's on the page now. Does that look better than the rainbow bridge? Thunderbird 13:23, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Much better. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:37, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)

HRWiki:Featured article for 2005, week 39

Any suggestions for this week? Limozeen or Holiday Toons perhaps? I somehow feel Holiday Toons could be formatted better, but I'm not sure how. Thunderbird 12:26, 13 Sep 2005 (UTC)

How about Games? Rogue Leader / (my talk) 20:10, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Hmmm... If we're gonna go that route, I'd rather hit Characters. Games could use with a bit of improved formatting or something. Thunderbird 23:37, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Again, I'm down with Limozeen. —FireBird|Talk 23:42, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I think characters would be a little strange to do. Limozeen is good. Maybe Dangeresque? Rogue Leader / (my talk) 23:48, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Hmmm... Limozeen or Dangeresque. Or... Maybe with the recent revival, The Cheat Commandos? I think any of the three would do, but if we pick Cheat Commandos, I wouldn't mind moving moving it ahead a week, switching with Free Country, USA. Thunderbird
I was thinking The Cheat Commandos since we haven't seen them for a while... Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 03:18, 16 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Great, sounds good to me. Then I'm thinking we move it to next week, and bump Free Country, USA to this week. Unless there are any objections, I'll get on it sometime tonight most likely. Thunderbird
Made base, but the paragraph needs more, somehow. Thunderbird 15:34, 17 Sep 2005 (UTC)

HRWiki:Featured article for 2005, week 40

How about The Paper? Nice page with lots of info. An integral part of every SBEmail and a pretty cool dude. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 10:43, 19 Sep 2005 (UTC)

How about Lappy 486? We should really feature Strong Bad's current computer. --Color Printer 12:07, 19 Sep 2005 (UTC)
