This is the first Teen Girl Squad issue to take us outside the paper and into the regular Homestar Runner universe.

From: Teen Girl Squad Issue 10
Posted on: 18:12, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

Arguments for:

  • comic was more than Teen Girl Squad Issue 1.
  • This is the first one to feature outside-world content within the comic. In the email that features Issue 1, there's no outside-world content between the character introductions and the ending scene.
  • comic is a Strong Bad Email, not a TGS issue. It introduced TGS and contained the first issue of TGS, but the issue itself (if accessed from the TGS main menu) did not contain the regular Homestar Runner universe.

Arguments against:

  • The first Teen Girl Squad issue was within the email comic, which had the regular Homestar Runner universe both before and after it.
  • All of the TGS issues are simply comics that exist in the Homestar world.
  • It's blatantly obvious just from watching.

Additional comments:

  • If this item is accepted, it should be concluded with "(not counting the frame story in the email comic)."
  • I'm sceptical about the usefulness of "this is the first time..." Fun Facts. They seem like they offer creative outlets for our Wikiful watchfulness, but to the average non-editing user who wants a knowledge base... is it important knowledge? If it's a debut of a major character or element that's one thing, but let's cut down on the "This is the first time we've seen Strong Bad scratch his right ear with his left hand" sort of thing.
  • True, but it is already done all over the place. This point is more significant than the "scratching" example. This is more along the lines of "This is the first email in which Strong Bad makes fun of someone's spelling."

Electric Ozone

"Arrow'd 2: Electric-" also alludes to Strong Bad's Ozone (from Breakin' and Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo) costume in 3 Times Halloween Funjob.

From: Teen Girl Squad Issue 10
Posted on: 23:22, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

Arguments for:

Arguments against:

  • While it's true that B&B2 was referred to both times, there's no reason to assume that they had anything to do with each other.

Additional comments:

  • We've been over this before: do separate Real-World References to the same thing constitute Inside References? I'm not sure what I think myself; I'd be against describing it as an actual Reference, but inclined to note it in some way.
    • I agree. I would vote for a revision simply mentioning Strong Bad's costume was also from the movie while eliminating the "alludes to" inside reference.
  • I would say it might make a Fun Fact, not an Inside Reference though.

Blue is a reference to the sky

"Olympic Race" is a reference to Homestar's list on The Show.

From: Teen Girl Squad Issue 10
Posted on: 22:38, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

Arguments for:

  • What? I don't believe there's any race in the Olympics that is officially known as the "Olympic Race Event." All races in the Olympics are Olympic races! So actually, I think it's too general not to be a reference, in that neither are true Real-World references.

Arguments against:

  • Just because olympic race is shown in both doesn't make it a reference. "The" is not a reference to "The Best Decemberween Ever"
  • Olympic race is a common race preformed in the olympics. Maybe if it were "Super Grand Olympiad Raceathon", but olympic race is too common to be a reference.

Additional comments:

  • We've had facts like this before, they weren't accepted either.
  • This is the same issue as above: individual references to the same Real-World phenomenon.

Different Voices

This is the first time a voice beside Strong Bad's has been used in the comic (the coach's).

From: Teen Girl Squad Issue 10
Posted on: 01:08, 11 October 2005 (UTC)

Arguments for:

Arguments against:

  • Extremely nitpicky.
  • It's not the first time, as the Vultures (and possibly Mr. Pitters) in Episode 9 had voices that didn't sound like Strong Bad.

Additional comments:

  • Don't we close verifyably false fun facts immediately?
