[edit] SB Email 51

In your introduction, you said you were watching "SBEmail #51, dragon!" Dragon is really email # 58. Is this correct? —BazookaJoe 11:09, 20 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Hey, you're right! I'll just go fix it... – The Chort 11:11, 20 Aug 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Not Ken

From the old FAQ:

Q: That drawing of Homestar in the fan section is NOT Michael Jackson like you said. Did you know that? Same with that one you said is Ken from Street Fighter. You guys are wrong!! (shortened to "Mistakes on fan art drawings?" in the FAQ body) A: We know. We've seen the movie and the cartoon. It's a joke. Now leave us alone.

It was a joke. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 16:36, 24 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Well, how has I to know that?! I never read the obsolete Email FAQ. I don't even know what the heck Street Fighter/Dragon Ball Z is! That's it, I'm going to sulk. {sulks}The Chort 10:52, 26 Aug 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Signature

Your new sig looks great, but you may want to consider having it link to your userpage instead of just being text. If you need help, feel free to ask. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 17:50, 11 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Whoops! My bad! Hang on a minute....fixed it! – The Chort 17:54, 11 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Super! small_logo.pngUsername-talk 17:55, 11 Sep 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Interwiki links

Hey The Chort. You have a popular name! At least, different versions of it seem to be. By the way, you can use an interwiki link to link to the Fanstuff, like this: [[HRFWiki:pagename]]. So, if you wanted, your sentence on your page could be: For the "The Chort" who uses the Fanstuff Wiki (not the same person as me), click here. — It's dot com 17:21, 21 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, It's dot com! You rock! – The Chort 17:51, 21 Sep 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Tae Kwon Do

Wow... your a white belt in Tae Kwon Do, that's cool since I'm a black belt. --Danny 23:43, 3 Oct 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image Maintenance

You have a good eye for noticing subtile differences. Thank you for pointing out all those old and duplicate images scattered throughout the wiki's image gallery. Your efforts help the sysops enforce the image use policy and we all appreciate your efforts. —THE PAPER PREEEOW 18:46, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

No probalo! – The Chort 18:47, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

Let's only mark for deletion any image that is violating the image policy above (wrong format, poor quality, etc.) or is an exact or near exact duplicate of another image. The two images you marked for deletion recently were different enough from other images that I coudn't really consider them duplicates. All these images are a big job, though, and I applaud you again for being willing to tackle them. Rock, rock on. — It's dot com 16:51, 24 December 2005 (UTC)
I only tried to delete them because they weren't being used and I thought that they were no longer needed. Meh, maybe someone could add one of them to their user page. – The Chort 17:01, 24 December 2005 (UTC)
For the time being, please take "unused on the wiki" out of your list of reasons to mark an image for deletion. It's okay for them to just sit on the server. :) — It's dot com 20:33, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
Oh, ok. I just thought that if too many unused images were left on the server, the server would run out of space! :) – The Chort 15:35, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
Nah. When we upgraded to the new server, we got gobs o' space. w00t! — It's dot com 15:37, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
Oh, that's ok, then. – The Chort 15:56, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Linking

Hey The Chort. I've noticed that a lot if not all of your links on talk pages are external links, like this, instead of internal links, like this. Instead of [http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php/Help:Link Help:Link], you can (and should) just type [[Help:Link]]. Hope that helps. :) — It's dot com 21:42, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

Oh, right. Okay, then. – The Chort 13:38, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

Have you ever not gotton your SBemail answerd well then send it to me and i'll answer it close to how good ol' SB and mabey i'll includ some crappy microsoft paint drawings...MABEY! But just put your SBemail in my talk pannal. With your name of corse! BYE -NOT Billy Bob Bob

Err...look, NOT BILLY BOB BOB....can I just call you NBBB?....Look NBBB, I don't mean to offend you but ARE YOU COMPLETELY NUTS?! Wait, don't answer that question. I mean, why would I want to send Strong Bad an email when he pretty much answerd all my questions in sb email 22? And even if I did want my email answerd, why would I even think about sending it to some nutter who can't spell correctly and greets people with "YO YO YO"? I thought that fad died out last decade. Also, I belive Fan Fictions are inferior to the genuine product, which is why I rarely visit to the Fanstuff Wiki. Now quit sending me spam or I'll sue. – The Chort 13:54, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Oh-STUFF'd Hundred Hours

Hey The Chort. Just curious, but why did you STUFF that fact? It seems like a pretty straightforward explanation to me. — It's dot com 21:20, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

The Chort, when stuffing a fact, you should probably put down an argument for or against so Savings is my left name, Ms. America! — Senor Cardgauge, Senor Mortgage

No, it can't be heaven. There's not enough twinkies. — Strong Bad, Where the Crap are We?

I cut the crust off in the morning light... — Homestar, origins we know why it's being stuffed. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 22:46, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

Sorry for any inconvenience I caused. I just thought the fact was fairly obvious and didn't need mentioning. Like that fact about R&R. And you must know that I had STUFFED the fact just before I had to go to bed so I didn't have time to explain why I STUFFED it. Augh...I knew I was going to regret this idea for the rest of my life...crapThe Chort 16:47, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

Meh, I'm sure you'll get over it. Everybody makes mistakes at some point. Just be sure to include an argument in the future, and everything will be fine. Since it's being overehelmingly and unanimously accepted, I'm gonna go ahead and close the item now. — It's dot com 16:50, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

Well, if it's okay with you, I'm gonna stick to voting on STUFF instead of STUFFING the items themselves. It was the first time I ever tried it and I don't know what I was thinking at the time. I only did it because I wanted to be the guy too. But I'm just a kid. Maybe when I'm older... – The Chort 11:20, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

Please don't bite the anonnies. A simple "reverted" is all that's necessary, especially when someone might have a good reason (at least to him or her) why an edit would be appropriate. Thanks. — It's dot com 19:33, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Twelve days

I just thought I'd let you know that I'm really enjoying your twelve days of Decemberween. Nevermind the bullocks, Heimstern Läufer 16:55, 5 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks! I decided to do this for 3 reasons:

  1. It was shorter than doing an 24 day advent calender.
  2. It's a great way to getting people to visit regularly.
  3. It's the perfect excuse for filling up my user page with images.

The Chorte 17:52, 5 December 2005 (UTC)

I'm enjoying it so far. Keep it up!

Man, that is one sweet new Christmas carol. I just sang through the whole thing. I'll have to see if I can get the whole family to go through it next time.
Oh, and I'm just wondering if maybe you want the ninth day to read "nine butts a-dancing" instead of just "nine butts dancing"...? It just seems more rhythmic (and funnier) that way. Heimstern Läufer 17:24, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

Sure, why not? – The Chort 12:50, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

I think Butts a-grabbing is funnier, but the song is over now. Oh, well. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:41, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
Bravo! I thuroughly enjoyed it. It's an idea the is sure to be plagerized for years to come! I R F 17:29, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

I believe that it is true that the DVD came out before the CD, however, the bonus extra was made before a final cover was picked.. I was wrong. The DVD came out about a week before the CD. Rogue Leader / (my talk) 18:11, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

Thank you! It was actually just a version of "If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands" I thought up on the spot. – The Chort 20:34, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
Yeh, I noticed that. BTW, can YOU find all of the eggs? Bluebry muffin 22:11, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

I've decided not to. I bet you've only asked me to add a cool people list so you can be on it. Am I right? Remember that little chat you had with E.L. Cool? We don't want Awesome Users lists to become the next Guestbook fad, do we? Besides, I'm going to do a Caption Contest instead. – The Chort 18:17, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
O' I remember the E.L. cool chat but uh... this time it's different that was the past. --TheThin 21:30, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Images

If you're uploading an image that should replace an existing one, go to the original one and click the "Upload a new version of this file" link near the bottom. Whatever you upload there will replace the original one. That way, the sysops won't have so many images to delete. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 18:26, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

What? I have never uploaded an image in my entire life! I can't spell you! – The Chort 18:28, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Never mind. I thought you had uploaded Image:PomPomSkipper2.PNG, as a replacement for Image:PomPomSkipper.PNG and then marked the latter one for deletion. I'm going to back and revert what I thought was fixing your mistakes. (You didn't actually make any.) — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 18:32, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
Oh, ok then. Nevermind the Bullocks, eh? – The Chort 18:37, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] HRWIKI:Welcome

Why did you delete it saying "Messed up user?" TheThin

I marked it for deletion with "user messed up" because I thought you made a mistake. I thought you accidently created a page that wasn't needed. Come to think of it, it does sound a bit rude. I better change it. – The Chort 15:10, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Caption Contest

Hey there, The Chort! I'd like to let you know some information about your Caption Contest. Although I really like the idea, you need to move it elsewhere. Seriously did the same thing with the competition. You will either need to move it to your talk page or the Fanstuff. Just thought I'd bring this up. See this discussion, if anything else pops up. teeeffoh! 17:33, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

I knew this would happen eventually. Sadly, I don't have a Fanstuff account and if I wanted to create one, I'd have to choose a different name because there's already a The Chort there! I bet he hasn't been on for months now. Ok then. I'll move it to this here talk page. But not just now. I'm busy. Playing a game. Warbears or something like that... – The Chort 18:35, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
Hey, no problem, man. Nice doin' business with you. teeeffoh! 18:39, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dummy edits.

Hi man, no need to edit your page for updates to be seen. Just purge it. I have a purge botton at the top of my page for those cases. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:47, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

Purge the whatnow? Oh, right, clear the browser's history somehow. Ok, I'll just go and add a purge button onto my toolbox. You know, just in case I ever need to use it.
Isn't technology amazing/confusing/magic? – The Chort 18:29, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image deletion

The Chort, where do you intend to get the image from? I'm using background-image, which has been implemented to only use images on this server, first of all. Secondly, it's my one user image. Thirdly, I don't believe an equivalent transparent image is available.

I apologize if there's an obvious reason for marking it for deletion, I just don't see it at the moment. -- 205.222.248.72 17:31, 3 March 2006 (UTC) (Jweb Guru, no time to log in)

Hang on, I gotta eat dinner now. I'll answer later. – The Chort 17:32, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
Er, doesn't it take as long to say "no time to log in" and "I'll answer later" as it would to just log in and answer now? But never mind that. ;) The image should not be marked for deletion or as abandoned, because it is currently in use on his user page (although it's not linked to in the normal way, so that's where the confusion arose). — It's dot com 17:53, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
Edit Conflict Ok, I'm back. I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about so I'll explain what I did and why I did it. Firstly, I marked Image:276001.jpg as abandoned as it wasn't being used on your user page. Maybe I should have asked for your consent before I added that. Secondly, I tried to add a To Be Deleted tag onto Image:Jweb Ibanez Artcore AF75.png because I thought that you had replaced it with an identical image which was held on a different server. I guess I messed up pretty good. I'm sorry for any confusion caused, including my own. I've been here for over half a year and I'm still not sure how this wiki works! Oh, and BTW, I really had to go downstairs and eat dinner. It's almost 18:00 over here in England and I still live with my parents, you know! I'm 15! – The Chort 17:57, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
The Chort: Okay, cool. Thanks for adding TBD to the other image, by the way, it needed it (but consent, or at least notification, would be cool in the future).
It's dot com, I just couldn't waste the time to log on, because I'm at a public terminal and would have had to log off, taking even more time. Does look a little silly, though.
(edit conflict) England, eh? Well, I'll tell you what I think of—oh wait, someone's already done that one. :) — It's dot com 18:13, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
I know several have done that one to me. =3 Just coz England's one of my favourite places in the world, even. --DorianGray

[edit] Personal images

It is our policy not to delete images unless we absolutely have to. Please stop telling people to mark images for deletion. It's sufficient for users with too many personal images to simply remove them from use (they should not be linked to from any page) and mark them as abandoned. Thanks one million. — It's dot com 15:22, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

I'm really sorry for any incovenience caused. I didn't know that they could just be left as abandoned. I've been on this wiki for almost a year now and I'm still not very good at this wiki thing. I'll go and adjust all the messages. – The Chort 15:27, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hello The Chort

I just wanted to let you know I changed the HTML code in your sig. I just changed all the <font color="orange">'s to <span style="color: orange;"> so that we can be valid with XHTML/CSS standards and stuff. Don't worry, it should still look exactly the same. [edit] Welcome Back Toon

Howdy the Chort. I'm sure the reference to Johnny Castaway is present in the Welcome Back toon. Bubs yells at a seagull from the island which reminded me of the screensaver, but you can't dispute the reference when at the end the poopsmith and pom pom's thoughts are displayed in those thought bubbles. Classic Johnny Castaway.

What's Johnny Castaway? No, really, I have never seen or heard of this screensaver before and I didn't think it was likely that The Brother Chaps would have referenced it. [1] Maybe they did, maybe they didn't; we're not sure. To me, it seemed like either a stretch or a TTATOT. But if you really want to add it to the article, maybe you should take it to STUFF first for discussion. – The Chort 16:43, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

  • Heimstern Läufer, and I think it's cool that you know who Richard Wagner is!
  • Lapper, I'm still too young to drive in this country (you need to be 17 in England) so I haven't decided yet. Probably a French car.

[edit] Abandoning other users' images

Hey there, The Chort... I noticed that you added {{personal-image-abandoned}} to quite a few images; have you checked to see if those users are beyond the personal image limit? From HRWiki:Personal images#Abandoned images, "Before labeling an image as abandoned on behalf of another user, please ensure that he or she does not intend to continue using it in the near future (especially if the user is still under the numerical limit)." The case may be that those users do not plan to use those images, but it would be better to check with them before marking them as abandoned. I would suggest just leaving them be, though. Laters, Trey56 14:17, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Well, the thing is many of those users left a long time ago and are probably never gonna come back. I just assumed that if a personal image is removed from their user page a long time ago, it is very unlikely they'll use them again. After all, doesn't "abandoned" mean "deserted" or "forshaken"? However, I will check if any active users still need them, just for you. – The Chort 14:21, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Well, I'm try to make less work for you, not more. I don't think they need to be dealt with at all (that is, they won't be deleted without the users' consent). And I haven't checked all the users, but are you sure that they're all inactive? The one that grabbed my attention was Image:The Paper Hushpuppies.PNG, uploaded by The Paper, who is a sysop and still fairly active... Sorry, I wasn't advocating that you go through the trouble of asking all those users and following up with them; I was just trying to save you work. Trey56 14:27, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Oh, that edit. Yeah, I've just undone it, seeing as he'll probably revert his user page back someday. Poor guy, it must be really hard on him. – The Chort 14:33, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Accept for that one Paper image, i think you're doing a good job, being bald and all that. Keep it up and remember to check when the user last edited and if the image could actually be abandoned. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 15:25, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Thank you, E.L. Cool. But I am most certainly not bald! I still have plenty of hair on my hair, thank you very much! – The Chort 16:13, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
{imagining a bald The Cheat} Although I don't agree that inactive users' unused images should be marked as abandoned, I will say that I appreciate your marking of duplicate images for deletion... :) Trey56 16:18, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
I think I'm going to puke my pants!
Thank you, Trey. May I produce a visual stimulus? – The Chort 16:23, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Oooh! Sweet mercy! This is orful! :P Trey56 16:26, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Pass me the Sticky Notes and a pen. ;) – The Chort 16:29, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
On the contrary, I see absolutely no need to mark personal images as abandoned if the user is not over the limit. The only reason the abandoned category exists is so that users who would be over the limit can put a different tag on an unused image to get back under the limit, and because we don't delete images simply because they're not being used. — It's dot com 18:38, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
The thing is many people who remove personal images from their user page don't bother to put the abandoned template on said personal images, and only do so when specifically asked to by another user. Additionally, many users sign up, upload a few personal images and then suddenly disappear and never return. I know unused images aren't deleted but I wanted to at least sort them out and help the wiki. Meh, it doesn't matter anyway because I'm done with the job. – The Chort 12:29, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Toolbox

Hey The Chort. I was just wondering, can I kind of copy the toolbox thing you have. It will just be kind of like yours only a little different. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 18:13, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Sure! I'll let you in on a secret. I didn't design my toolbox myself; I actually copied it from Firebird's userpage and added my own stuff to it! It's only fair to let you do the same, isn't it? ;) Just make sure you change a few things around to make it different. – The Chort 18:17, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
