[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 1 (Jan 1-7)

This has been suggested before — Cold One? --Trogga 15:11, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

What aboutHappy Fireworks???? That seems to fit the occassion/ocassion/occasion/however it's spelled. I'm pretty sure more than just the USA celebrate New Years with Fireworks. And the toon is pretty much not clear what time of year this is supposed to be (even tho we know it came out in July). It's nominated and seems apropriate. Anyone agree?--Image:Stinkwing.gif »Bleed0range« 19:56, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Meh, I'd rather not feature it on New Year's Eve. The Cold One page is good and I'm surprized it's not already featured. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 20:15, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Actually, thinking it through... I now see how The Cold One page can apply to New Years. lol. Ok, I vote on that too. It's a good idea.--Image:Stinkwing.gif »Bleed0range« 20:31, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
You guys might find this funny, but Cold Ones was going to be the featured article for the new year last year (this year). But due to technical bumbs in the road last year, Homestar Runner got bumped up early. I do not anticipate those problems this year. Jan 1, 2007 falls exactly on the start of MediaWiki's week 1. It won't be until 2018 when that happens again. —BazookaJoe 20:48, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Re:Happy Fireworks: I do think we should do this for July 4th of 2007. We kind of meant to do it this year, and somehow it didn't work out right. Heimstern Läufer 21:31, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
I like Cold Ones. And it's already written up anyways. (The reason it got bumped last year was we were hoping the system would make "2006, week 1" start and end on Sunday the 1st. Instead it just overlapped "2005, week 52" to Sunday the first, then started week 1 on Monday. So we hastily bumped Homestar up to week 1, making him the first full feature of the year, and we didn't get around to picking another good time for cold ones). In any case, let's do it this year. Thunderbird 00:02, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 2 (Jan 8-14)

What about Rather Dashing as a featured article? Everyone's favorite hero in short pants? That or we could do Naked Ned, which is a little more obscure. January always reminds me of them releasing the PQ Trailer, but that's already been featured before. --Image:Stinkwing.gif »Bleed0range« 20:51, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

I had a better idea, why don't we do Stinkoman as a featured article for the month of January? I was surprised it hasn't been done yet. Then maybe next month (February) we could feature 1-UP? Both articles have quite a bit of information and are interesting.--Image:Stinkwing.gif »Bleed0range« 03:56, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Stinky may need a cleanup. --Trogga 15:03, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Stinkoman sounds great to me. This year, our main focus, character-wise, has been on the main characters; that's probably why we haven't gotten to Stinkoman yet. If he needs cleanup, by all means, do it. It's a wiki! Heimstern Läufer 23:23, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
Hmm, too bad this article couldn't come up on 6 January, which is Stinkoman's birthday... that'd be even better than a Stinkoman-shaped pancake. But I guess we can give him a belated birthday present this year. Heimstern Läufer 00:03, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

We should do Stinkoman the week before and do Cold Ones this week. That would make sense. SaltyTalk! 23:20, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Well, the reason for doing Cold Ones the week before is so they could line up with New Year's Day. You know, the whole alcohol-New Year's connection? Heimstern Läufer 23:23, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
I think it's more important to feature Cold Ones for the New Years. But, it's only a few days off from Stinky's birthday. It would still be in the month of his birthday, and no one wants to see Cold Ones brushed off again. I likes it.--Image:Stinkwing.gif »Bleed0range« 07:28, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 3 (Jan 15-21)

How about we do one of those weeks where we feature daily articles? Specifically, a week devoted to some of the old games. A while ago, someone suggested featuring Strong Libs, but some people objected on the grounds that there's not much content to it. If we feature these articles for only a day, it's not such a problem if there's less content because it's only there for one day.

These are the games I was thinking of (most of which have had at least one reference in the modern era of H*R):

Heimstern Läufer 23:35, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

I can definitely make decent-sized FA write-ups for all of these. Here are your links:

BazookaJoe 00:03, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

I suggest Audition with Marzipan instead of Spin n' Say. —BazookaJoe 08:09, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Concur. Heimstern Läufer 08:12, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Strikeout'd accordingly. Heimstern Läufer 07:27, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 4 (Jan 22-28)

Bug In Mouth Disease? It's been suggested before and had a lot of support, although ultimately consensus went to Cool Things. Heimstern Läufer 00:34, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

That sounds good. --Trogga 17:25, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Is anyone else cool with BiMD? --Trogga 19:57, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Any toon what stars a bug is cool by me. --DorianGray
Well, even though it's been made and my opinion will probably be ignored/not cared about/deleted/removed by a vandal, methinks it's a good idea. Bluebry 20:03, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 5 (Jan 29-Feb 4)

Everything Else? We've featured strongbad_email.exe, and Vol. 2 was just released, and it seems like a good article. --Trogga 01:17, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

The content is a bit on the short side, but we could probably make it work. Heimstern Läufer 22:48, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 6 (Feb 5-11)

Seeing that the Super Bowl's this week, Peasant's Quest Movie Trailer or Superbowl Dealie seems like a no-brainer. --Trogga 01:17, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Peasant's Quest Movie Trailer seems more suitable to me, as it's got substantially more content. After a little calculating and researching on the internet, it looks to me like the Superbowl starts at 11 PM UTC, so this would come up an hour later, which I imagine would put it not all that far from halftime. Heimstern Läufer 05:49, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Then Peasant's Quest Movie Trailer it is. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 19:27, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 7 (Feb 12-18)

How about Strong Sad's Lament. It has the only Valentines Day reference. --Theyellowdart 08:37, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Already been featured. --DorianGray

Thy Dungeonman (character) or Ye Flask. Awesome articles. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 11:11, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Well... how about... The Secrets That I Keep. That's probably the least-known H*R toon. Like, most people have never even seen it. --TheYellowDart(t/c).
Oooohhh, I like The Secrets That I Keep double link'd! Bluebry 19:24, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Is there enough content in the article? It's good and all, but Elcool's suggestions do provide a lot more content. Heimstern Läufer 01:06, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Woah. From now on, I look at the articles I'm voting for <embarrassment>(Heh heh)</embarrassment>. Yeah, Ye Flask, totally. Bluebry 01:16, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
It looks like there could be some more info added to Secrets..., but If we can't, Ye Flask is good too. --TheYellowDart(t/c).
I vote Thy Dungeonman. I think we should first feature that guy before we try to feature his flask. Has Matt? (talk) 13:26, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
It looks like we have consensus to feature either Thy Dungeonman (character) or Ye Flask, but I'm not seeing any clear consensus as to which of these two we should go for. Anyone who's interested should consider commenting to help us determine consensus. Heimstern Läufer 20:22, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Leaning toward Thy Dungeonman (character). Like said, character before item. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:25, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
Hmm... I vote for Ye Flask — more recognizable and I think the article's more interesting to read. Trey56 07:15, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah. Go with the Flask. Vital idea to the whole series, whereas I suspect the Dungeonman is different every time. --DorianGray
Consensus is not clear here, but as we have less than 24 hours before this goes live, I'm calling in favor of Ye Flask because there is a greater amount of support for this article. To those who preferred Thy Dungeonman (character), consider nominating this article again in the future. It would probably make a great FA. Heimstern Läufer 00:48, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 8 (Feb 19-25)

Howsabout we do Songs here? Or better yet, Songs By Character! I've worked that article up to its fullest (I hope) and it seems like a decent topic. Thoughts? -Brightstar Shiner 20:06, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

I've never really been sure how we could make a list work as a featured article, just because there's never enough prose to make for a good read on the main page, and because it's usually hard to summarize a list the way you can summarize a transcript. Of course, if you can think of a way, I'd be glad to hear it, I just can't think of any way myself. Heimstern Läufer 08:13, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
Maybe we could say something like, "The Homestar Runner universe has a variety of songs in the toons, ranging from Homestar's on-the-spot Bread Song to the famous Trogdor that has appeared as a playable bonus tune on Guitar Hero II. Many of these songs blah blah blah..." you get the point. If this doesn't work out, that's okay. I just wanted to throw out an article that I worked on heavily so that I could be as proud as when Integral Article (I created it and spruced it up sufficiently) was featured. -Brightstar Shiner 16:45, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
I wanna see either Sightings or Secret Pages. --Trogga 18:08, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
About Sightings: Eww! No. No no no... No! those bunches of pages are messed up, un-consistent, and full of speculations. About Secret Pages: I like it, nice idea and one of the most visited pages on the wiki. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 21:37, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, no, definitely not SightingsLoafing 21:38, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
I agree, Secret Pages is good. And Sightings could be... disastrous. Bluebry 21:40, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
I fourth that opinion. If anything, Sightings should be deleted. As Bluebry said, it's a complete disaster. So much of the information is unverifyable, almost none of it complies to standards, and some of the links are just plain wrong and never deserve to be in a featured article. — Lapper (talk)
Is Secret Pages really workable as an FA? To me, it seems like another list, and I've aleady suggested the problems I see with featuring a list. Could someone at least give me an idea of what a writeup for that article might look like? Heimstern Läufer 23:30, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but who are you again? Please don't forget to sign your posts. He has now. Anyway, Secret Pages would work just fine, I think. It's not so much a list as it is a collection of smaller mini-pages that are fully explained and interesting, so this looks to be a suitable option. -Brightstar Shiner 23:29, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Actually, I agree with Heimstern. Secret Pages IS more like a list...are there any articles about secret pages that haven't been used? Those would be good. Bluebry 01:57, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
What do you mean by "about Secret Pages"? Like the actual articles that are linked to from that page? -Brightstar Shiner 14:58, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, you know a secret page article that's not, well, you know, Secret Pages. Maybe, uh...Email Processing Room? It hasn't been done yet. Bluebry 19:11, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Gotcha. Have we done Marshmallow's Last Stand? That's a bigger toon (?) than Email Processing Room, but we don't want too many options here. -Brightstar Shiner 20:44, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I think we did MLS back when lady..ing came out. --DorianGray
How 'bout the other lost Homestar toon, A Jumping Jack Contest? --Trogga 14:50, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Give me a week (that's less then we need) and I'll try to write something up about Secret Pages. I think I can do it. If I fail, then do any other page. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:54, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Fine by me. Heimstern Läufer 05:56, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
And the results are looking pretty good! Heimstern Läufer 02:33, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 9 (Feb 26-Mar 4)

Since we've featured Stinkoman in mid-January, maybe we could do 1-Up this week? Heimstern Läufer 04:53, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, 1-Up's good. Hasn't been featured, good article, it'd do well. Bluebry 23:11, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
I'd be more inclined to say Old-Timey Strong Bad, and push for a different Strong Bad variation every month throughout the year. Thunderbird 04:31, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
I don't like that idea. I don't feel we should focus a whole year of character features entirely on SB (he already gets enough attention, anyway, IMHO). I still think 1-Up is a good way to go. Heimstern Läufer 21:19, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2007, week 10 (Mar 5-11)

Strong Bad Lore? I like that page, it is niiiiccce. --Trogga 15:27, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Hmm, I do like that page, and it's on a non-obvious topic (which I think is sometimes good for an FA). Heimstern Läufer 21:26, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
Good long article. I like it. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 04:54, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Agree. Interesting topic, fun read, unusual subject, somewhat unknown. Most Improved! *ding!* --DorianGray 04:58, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Yeh. I can't see why not. Although, I've never really "understood" that topic. I guess it's just stories by Strong Bad, AKA stuff he made up watching Miami Vice reruns. I'm worried others won't REALLY get it. But, they'll most likely get it. So, I guess I vote agree. Bluebry 22:27, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
