I'm so badly addicted to that site, and this site, and fanstuff, and homestarrunner.com... ok, so I barely get off the puter all day 'cept for classes, and barely for homework. Oh well. Oh, and flash... i'm addicted to flash. Maybe someday i'll be almost as famous as TBC for somethin in flash... like when pigs fly... but you never know. Get autographs now while they're cheap! Hehe! It's a secret! Actually, it's a little thing called domain parking! You register your domain (you gotta pay for that part) and "park it" -- you don't buy hosting. Many sites will offer free website redirection and will mask the real address (this is what I do). Two A good place is godaddy.com which is dirt cheap and offers lots of features, and is the only registrar I use at this moment. and names direct which offers a couple (not really that many) of other features but at a greater expense per year. Well, the geocities page is one of their free ones (hence the ads and the limit on web space and traffic -- but mine's not a very big and important page so I don't care about that). All I pay for is the domain -- this one runs at about $40/year, while another one I have is $14/year and both include "domain protect" which keeps my personal information private in the Whois Database. --Stux 06:02, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

In the news...

I think I will no longer be reading my current news from regular, hyped up news franchises, but instead from a truly unbiased (relatively speaking) source like the Wikipedia. Case in point:

  • The 2005_Indian_subcontinent_earthquake is a very recent, tragic event. This article on the wiki has been published the same day of the event. It cites the BBC article among others, and you can tell the night and day difference in tone, sensationalism and objectivity. Wow.
  • How I long for jounalists to attain the same level of true objectivity as encyclopedia writers are required (this wiki is a great example, beleive it or not). My apologies to those who are in the journaling business and also contribute/read the wiki. I am not trying to offend anyone but rather to make an observation.
  • In the meantime I will keep the people in Pakistan, Afghanistan and India in prayer.

Stress

The templates are meant for "easy coding" for the stress level images (they link to them directly), that way people just need to change the level simply by changing the stress level number. I wanted to try it out and see if people would like to use that for their pages. If they are too much trouble I can remove them. --Stux 01:01, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

IDs

The IDs for the costumes page were to the individual years, which are now taken care of by the individual pages. That's why there aren't IDs on the new pages (although, if someone wanted to get really ambitious, he or she could put 'id="homestar"', etc. on all the pages. But that's a topic for another day, probably). Also, you don't need to put underscores in the links. The software takes care of that. — It's dot com 18:17, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

Edit Conflict: I thought the one for Thy Dungeonman specifically was for the specific costume it was referring to (that is Strong Sad's costume? (LOL i didn't even catch the "pub" the first time I read it. ) Of course, SS is third on the list so it doesn't really matter as much now, does it? As for the underscores... um yeah... I was kinda lazy there, cuz I just copied and pasted the corresponding URLs and removed the header part of the url... :) *whistles* anyway... since you already fixed the old ones while I was typing, I'll keep an eye out for the new ones! Oops, sorry about that early post thing. Was an accident. But what I wanted to say is that if a troll has been blocked, it doesn't need to go on the WikiTroll page. That is simply to bring the troll to a sysop's attention, and especially with this WikiTikiTavi guy, it is just not worth the time and energy. LoL I thought that was an interesting message. I was thinking of leaving some smart quip like "nice message" but I figured I'd wait and see what developed. BTW you're fast on them reverts! Yeah, you're right, it really isn't worth my time and energy. But when I started noticing, I didn't know if there were sysops around so I did it anyway. Yeah at least I know now they're being block so yeah you bring an excellent point. The last ones I still wanted to make sure they didn't get 'missed' or whatever might've been going through my mind. Now to breathe... and then go to bed!

Ok, problem solved, thanks for helping. But, what it said was something like, This IP adress has been blocked by Homestar Coder for some bad editing thingy. Initial something was "wow."

What does (+be) stand for?--Stephen923

Oh! Now I know what you're talking about! At the time, some main pages had a "Button Effects" title, though most didn't. As a result I went ahead and added that title to all the main pages that didn't so that they would be uniform and would look better. The first change I'm sure I labeled "button effects", but all subsequent changes I made i labeled "+be" to refer to that first change (to mean that I was adding(+) a "button effects title) and to save time while I was doing all 20 or so pages. For example, on 62.101.126.223, you put 62.101.96.0/19. But I get 62.101.126.208 - 62.101.126.223, with a range of 62.101.126.208/ 28. — It's dot com
In that case, the /19 domain does come up on the page as a parent to the range you put. So both appear. Better to use the more specific ones though. --Jay (Talk) 05:29, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

Homestar User

On the other hand, weren't you a little hard on Homestar? (I can't believe nobody'd taken that name before now!) The word "panties" has, after all, itself appeared on H*R, and Marzipan's dubious anatomy makes it more of an improbability than an "obscenity." Hmmmm you make a good point. I, myself don't remember the word panties, maybe I do ... vaguely, however the way he used it did not sound like something TBC would say in a H*R cartoon. I was talking about where "panties" has been used on the site (such a strange word. I have several female friends who absolutely refuse to use it!). I actually didn't get Thunderbird's message at first either: I missed the word "other", which, needless to say, changes the meaning quite a bit. Well, suffice to say my reaction would have been the same as Strong Bad's reaction to Homestar's falling for him! But eventually I figured out what it really meant. Thunderbird's trivia was no doubt made more confusing by the fact that you aren't actually German, are you, Läufy? (And as for your homework, I can summarize for you:
  • Stravinsky's neoclassicism was one of the earliest examples of corporate downsizing among composers. After the roaring success (?) of Rite, he was planning a lavish production incorporating a Russian fable into grand pageant, as he had with The Firebird. There were to be grand song-and-dance numbers showcasing the soldier and the devil, chorus scenes with the inhabitants of the soldier's native village, and a live jazz combo on stage in addition to the full pit orchestra. The task of casting the soldier and the devil was difficult, since they would need to be not only strong operatic vocalists, but skillful violinists and trained balletists as well. In the end war broke out, and Stravinsky was forced to settle for a few instruments and people talking. Actually, I wasn't even thinking of that when I wrote it, I just wanted a Sandbox talk page! ;) But now that you mention it, I did talk about something like that before once in someone's talk page (I tried to remember where but I can't, does anybody remember?) Someone made some weird edit (I think I called the section "trolls write the darndest things"), which was reverted, but we went on to talk about how we could keep an archive of stuff like this much like the Big wiki does. Oh that's where it was! I tried looking for it and I was sure I'd used the word darndest, but it wouldn't show up in the search! I just realized I misspelled the word as dardnest. Oops. So yeah, darndest is misspelled in that entry and I'm not gonna fix it. Nope. Not at all. I'm just mention it here. This might just nit-picking after all, it's your poem, but, I thought I'd share that traditionally Haikus have 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second, and 5 in the third line. Lol! Ah! I knew someone would come to me with that! Just not this quickly. This I actually wrote (well assuming i got the first line right), during a workshop I had in college where one of the Biology Teachers (yes, Biology) who is an avid Haiku-ist gave us the task to write a Haiku. Among some of the things that we were taught: Japanese haiku's do not always strictly follow the 5-7-5 rule. Some of these even portray some picture with irony or surprise in it. I'm not sure exactly where she got her style (since it was so long ago) but it was that style I was following when I wrote it! :) --Stux 17:12, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
