Strong Bad and Strong Sad's Relationship

Strong Bad's relationship with Strong Sad usually consists of Strong Bad hurting or making fun of Strong Sad, though not all the time. It appears that Strong Bad is at least partly responsible for Strong Sad's depression; Strong Sad writes that in Strong Bad's absence, "I feel... cooler, and... less like I suck so bad."

Matt Chapman has said that Strong Bad and Strong Sad's relationship is very loosely based on the relationship between himself and Mike, apparently from when they were kids. [1]

• Strong Bad has created various insulting nicknames for Strong Sad.

• rough copy — Strong Bad and The Cheat sue Strong Sad for custody of Not-So-Thin Mints by throwing water balloons at him.
• concert — Strong Bad breaks a record over Strong Sad's head, causing one shard to become lodged in his scalp.
• bike thief — Strong Bad say "[he] would rather die" than play "Cats: the Musical" with Strong Sad.
• pizza joint — Strong Bad denies invitations to join Strong Sad's friend list at virtualpizz.biz.
• slumber party — Early on, Strong Bad speaks of dislocating the shoulders of younger siblings. Later on, Strong Sad appears with his arm in a sling. Additionally, Strong Bad tells the viewers that Strong Sad used to miss his mother during the slumber parties they held in their basement and forces him to admit that this happened once. A week. For ten years. Strong Bad later attempts to dislocate Strong Sad's other shoulder.
• business trip — Strong Bad leaves Strong Sad's lecture right after the introduction.
• yes, wrestling — The photo labeled "Master of the 1/8th Nelson!" shows Strong Bad's arm grabbing Strong Sad below his own arm.
• environment — Strong Bad tries to drop a "65 mile per gallon hybrid piano" on Strong Sad and Marzipan.
• fan club — Strong Bad gets back at Strong Sad for coming up with a fan fiction of his own: He causes an entire bag of Twizzlers to fall out of his mouth, has him squeezed by a eight-foot sandwich constricter and introduces a naked Homestar Runner to the story.
• hiding — Strong Bad tells the Cheat to switch to capturing Strong Sad in a cage.
• your edge — Strong Bad and The Cheat throw feathers at Strong Sad.

These are times when Strong Sad has either proved Strong Bad wrong or made fun of him, much to Strong Bad's chagrin.

• Strong Bad is in Jail Cartoon — While Strong Bad is in jail, Strong Sad turned the e-mail room into his tai chi space. Later, he sells out Strong Bad and The Cheat to Homestar and Pom Pom.
• Teen Girl Squad Issue 10 — Strong Sad catches Strong Bad trying to make out with a drawing of the made-over The Ugly One.
• Somber Vacation — Strong Sad tricks Strong Bad, as well as Bubs, into watching his slideshow by telling them that he found a dead body and that there would "be's casseroles," respectively.

Strong Bad Email

• stand-up — Strong Sad shows the viewer Strong Bad's failed comedic act.
• gimmicks — Strong Sad tells Strong Bad that a computer like his (the Tandy 400) could be bought in a garage sale for 15 dollars.
• marzipan — Strong Sad does not fall for Strong Bad's "vinegar toast" prank.
• 2 emails — Strong Sad fools Strong Bad to believe that "About a million ladies called... and said they'd be a few minutes late".
• labor day — With Strong Bad's absence, Strong Sad jokes that maybe his invitation got "da-leet-ed".
• couch patch — Strong Sad reveals that Lil' Strong Bad believed Carl Lewis was a woman. And that she was hot.
• colonization — Strong Sad "hassles" Strong Bad about his use of ketchup as a topping on eggs.
• kind of cool — Strong Sad proclaims that the "different kind of cool" Strong Bad would be if he was like Senor Cardgage is not cool at all.
• army — Strong Sad joins the Homestarmy, which rallies against the "two-bit wrestleman and his yellow dog".
• different town — Strong Sad confuses Strong Bad and calls him a weirdo.
• dangeresque 3 — Strong Sad refuses to say his line for Dangeresque 1: Dangeresque, Too? Instead he says the movie is stupid.
• looking old — Strong Sad acts as if Strong Bad is his great-grandmother after receiving a "lace lift" in an attempt to look young, and eventually takes him back to "the home".
• rough copy — Strong Sad repeatedly throws snowballs (which he had been storing in the freezer since he was eight) at Strong Bad and The Cheat.
• concert — Strong Sad smiles as he remarks to Strong Bad's "Hollywood Boulevards," "Oh, hello, pleatèd boots. What are you all gussied up for?"
• pizza joint — Strong Sad gives Strong Bad's website, virtualpizz.biz, and the email itself negative reviews.
• slumber party — Strong Sad mocks Strong Bad about his choice of pajamas at a slumber party.
• environment — Strong Sad, along with Marzipan, boycott Strong Bad's use of the Lappy 486 and try to convince him that he should use it in a more "eco-friendly" way.
• fan club — Strong Sad comes up with a fan fiction about Strong Bad: He makes him speak out of character, puts a bonnet on him and attempts to make him give Homestar Runner a deep-tissue massage.
• buried — Strong Sad calls Strong Bad "crazier than ever" for mistaking garbage for artifacts.

• different town — Strong Sad doesn't mind getting Strong Bad a bust of Bubo from the Clash of the Titans convention.

• extra plug — Strong Sad helps Strong Bad with his unplugged email.
• alternate universe — Strong Sad helps Strong Bad with his email song. Afterwards, Strong Bad thanks him.
• Accent — Strong Sad shows Strong Bad a projection of what Strong Bad's voice will sound like in five years, then calls in a specialist to help him recover his old accent.
• concert — Strong Sad attempts to get Strong Bad to like a band that isn't metal, and the two of them almost bond over it.
• bike thief — Strong Sad attempted to get Strong Bad to play Cat Burglar with him.
• pizza joint — Strong Sad gives Strong Bad's restaurant, The Pizz, a favorable review.
• winter pool — Strong Bad, Strong Sad, and Homestar all wait for the gelatin in the pool to achieve "maximum jiggle."
