Since Marzipan is the only main character that is female in the Homestar Runner universe, characters sometimes lampshade that fact by remarking about it.

- Who Said What Now? — When Marzipan is clicked on, she says "I'm the only girl."
- Homestar Runner's Character Video — Homestar says he dates the only girl.
- Email marzipan — Emily, the author of the email, mentions that the only girl she's seen even near Strong Bad is Marzipan.
- Halloween Potion-ma-jig — When Homestar turns into Freaky Marzipan, Marzipan says "Hooray! I'm not the only girl!"
- Why Come Only One Girl? — The entire toon and commentary explain why Marzipan is the only girl on the website. The commentary also explains The Brothers Chaps' numerous attempts at introducing another female character.
- Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 15.2 — Bubs asks Marzipan if she can introduce him to other ladies she might know, since she isn't his type.
- Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 17.2 — Strong Bad leaves a prank call pretending to be the new girl character, "Sharpdene", who acknowledges the fact that Marzipan was the only girl.
