If there is an active vandal, most likely there is a sysop watching recent changes who will block him without prompting. If it continues for a few minutes, add the name to WikiTroll. ~~If that doesn't work, try contacting the most recently active sysop, according to Recent Changes~~. If that fails, you could also try alerting somebody on the IRC. If even that fails, and the vandalism continues for more than 10 or 15 minutes, then likely by some bizzare happening there are no sysops here at all. Then you may leave a message on my talk page. But even then, it probably won't do any good, since by the time I log in and see it, most likely another capable sysop will already have logged in, seen the problem, and blocked them. Unless I'm visably active, leaving a message here really doesn't do much. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 22:56, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

If there are no sysops that are logged in and active but not checking recent changes, it won't do much good to contact any of them. You'll just have to keep reverting until a sysop comes around. They always do eventually. —BazookaJoe 23:00, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

It changes your specific Wiki display options. You can do all sorts of things with it, FireBird even made his sysop "rollback" button flash. I really don't know much about HOW to make stuff happen though, best I can do is see what users do and copy them. It is. As another example, it seems as though Tampo's trying to make his new messages bar appear blue. Like I said, customization that effects only the user that implements it. And as for your userboxes not appearing on your userpage, it was probably because you didn't purge the cashe. When you add a userbox, if you want it to appear right away, go to this link, and then it should appear. Feel free to copy this link and put it somewhere. You can also make this link by pressing edit on your userpage, then replacing "edit" in the url with "purge", and pressing enter. It's the same thing. It looks a bit small. I suppose that an image wouldn't really line up with the text, since it would depend on your screen resolution and other things, correct? If you'll look on my userpage, the thumb image with the caption "⇔Thunderbird⇔"; the arrows from that look pretty close to the same as the arrow from your image. The Stairs

Thunderbird, I am so, so sorry about the rating and stairs pages. I am known on the bswiki to be a great editor and troll lookout. I have never vandalized any wiki before. (Unless you count what I just did, but I thought you would be ok with that.) Don't worry about it. When I first came here I was unsure of the rules for any wiki, and got myself blocked for a day. ;) I hope you turn out to be a great contributor. We don't get new sysops very often, usually less than 10 a year. Becoming a sysop is an admirable goal to work towards, and some general guidelines are written out in the FAQ. We don't get new sysops very often, and being only a sysop, I don't have the power to promote users. Hey man, long time no see! The camera is my parent's, it's around 4 years old, and I rarely use it. I really didn't know much about it, now that you mention the diamond thing, I seem to recall something about it, more diamonds means better quality, or something, right? As for how many I used, I didn't even think to change it or anything, so it really just depends on what the default is. I haven't recieved your package yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Unfortunately, my idea for a Talking Heads wikicity fell through, but I will be creating my own wiki soon. (over the weekend, most likely). It's going to be a wiki version of this site I made. (the rest of this only makes sense if you've already followed the link and then returned) My plan is for the current site to be the "canon" version with real material, and for the wiki to be "based on a true story", so to speak. (The stuff at the top is technical stuff, but if you really want to be creative with your table try changing it around a bit. obviously "#eeeeee" means color, and most of those little one digit numbers mean how thick most of the table lines are)

Remember that after your four (or however many columns you chose), press enter, add a vertical line break, and then a dash, then go enter again.	When starting a new line for your table, you have to start it with a single vertical line as well, like the single ! you put first when naming your columns to begin with.		You can even make sections blank, but you still need the right number of double line breaks.
<-- Don't forget that line to start your column.	<-- Or that there's the same number of those sets of breaks as there are title columns, in this case four.		Finish off your table with a new line, then...

I hope that helps! There's lots of other technical stuff you can do as well, such as making a table only a certain width, lots of color variations, etc, but if you want a basic table, that's the layout. Contents Question

Is it possible to get a contents for your user page? I see that you got one in this user talk but when I went to see what you put in to get one of em the only thing I saw seperating the "⇔Thunversations⇔" from this part of the conversation page was a in caps message about not editing above this line or haveing to face the rath of some undetermined fate. So I look all over everywhere I can't find anything in there that let's you have a contents box though I did realize that the URL is different. Am I overlooking something, Is the Box supplied when you get a long enough page, Are some pages just equiped with this from the begining? When I held my mouse over the hide / show button it reads "javascript:toggleToc()" and I know what javascript is. Whenever i go to edit something I look at where the contents are and... it pulls a Houdini.... upon hiting the "Show preview" thing It includes this in the contents. If you don't mind clearing this up for my that would be appriciated.

The top line regarding Thundery rath and all that, is just to protect my Talk archives navigation template, so you can go from month to month of old conversations. The reason my userpage does not have a table of contents, is simple. If you look at the very bottom of the code (by clicking "edit" but not saving it) I put at the bottom a little "__NOTOC__". What that does, is prevents a table of contents from appearing. "Don't ask me why I did it... Because I already forgot." Now whether they appear or not, is somewhere under your personal preferences, the same place you set your sig, etc. You choose in your personal settings to display Tables of Contents or not. If you choose to show them, then once a page gets more than three headers (A header is defined by a little edit tag so you can edit the sub section), then it will display a table of contents for you. Putting "__TOC__", "__NOTOC__" or "__FORCETOC__" on a page will override your preferences. The first one will make the TOC appear after a page has three headings (regardless of what you have selected in your preferences), the second one will not allow the TOC to appear, and the third one will cause a TOC to appear on the page even when there's less than three headings. Some of these are used on pages around the wiki, for instance you'll notice The updates pages shouldn't have tables of contents whether it's selected under preferences for you or not. Since that page has so many headings, a TOC would be very long, therefore we use __NOTOC__. But whether they appear or not, they're automatically generated, you won't see a code for them or anything. To clarify: normally a page will automatically get a TOC just before the first heading if there are more than 3 headings on the page (provided it's turned on in your prefs). __NOTOC__ forces there to be no TOC, __FORCETOC__ forces there to be a TOC, and __TOC__ forces there to be a TOC and moves the TOC to where you wrote __TOC__ (instead of the normal place, between the opening text and the first heading). This lets you do fancy things, like <div style="float:right">__TOC__</div> to get a floating TOC (like on my talk page). Actually, I've been planning on getting around to it, but I'm still gonna be pretty busy for the next few days. What I was planning, was instead of trying to transcribe the whole thing, summarize it in the same fashion as the Flashforward page. Not only is that easier to write, as you can listen to a minute of it and then summarize without going over it repeatedly, but I find it's also an easier read than a terribly long mega-page. If you want to try and get some done in that way, go ahead. I'll also try and get it done sometime later, and I'm sure various users would go over what you write and fix any spelling or grammatical errors. The reason my userpage does not have a table of contents, is simple. If you look at the very bottom of the code (by clicking "edit" but not saving it) I put at the bottom a little <nowiki>"__NOTOC__"</nowiki>. What that does, is prevents a table of contents from appearing. <small>"Don't ask me why I did it... Because I already forgot."</small> Now whether they appear or not, is somewhere under your personal preferences, the same place you set your sig, etc. You choose in your personal settings to display Tables of Contents or not. If you choose to show them, then once a page gets more than three headers (A header is defined by a little edit tag so you can edit the sub section), then it will display a table of contents for you. Putting <nowiki>"__TOC__", "__NOTOC__" or "__FORCETOC__"</nowiki> on a page will override your preferences. The first one will make the TOC appear after a page has three headings (regardless of what you have selected in your preferences), the second one will not allow the TOC to appear, and the third one will cause a TOC to appear on the page even when there's less than three headings. Some of these are used on pages around the wiki, for instance you'll notice [[H*R.com updates 2005|The updates pages]] shouldn't have tables of contents whether it's selected under preferences for you or not. Since that page has so many headings, a TOC would be very long, therefore we use <nowiki>__NOTOC__</nowiki>. But whether they appear or not, they're automatically generated, you won't see a code for them or anything. This lets you do fancy things, like <code><nowiki><div style="float:right">__TOC__</div></nowiki></code> to get a floating TOC (like on my talk page). What I was planning, was instead of trying to transcribe the whole thing, summarize it in the same fashion as the Flashforward page. Not only is that easier to write, as you can listen to a minute of it and then summarize without going over it repeatedly, but I find it's also an easier read than a terribly long mega-page. If you want to try and get some done in that way, go ahead. I'll also try and get it done sometime later, and I'm sure various users would go over what you write and fix any spelling or grammatical errors.
