Not Quite The Right Voice

In the beginning, Cheerleader's voice is not even close to how it usually sounds. This could be due to how long it was since Issue 10 was made.

Arguments for:

Arguments against:

  • Cheerleader sounds just like she does in the last few Teen Girl Squads.
  • If this is referring to the "Cheerleader! So and So!" intro, which is unclear, it is not re-recorded for each issue (except Teen Girl Squad Issue 10). The current TGS voices are much higher than they were in the first issue.
  • The Cheerleader's pitch in her "Don't look now, ladies..." speech might be a bit lower than usual, but it's still very close to usual.

Additional comments:

  • This fact does not make any sense.

You my wingman

In this context, a wingman is a person who assists a friend in approaching a member of the opposite sex.

From: Teen Girl Squad Issue 11
Posted on: 14:49, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Arguments for:

  • It fits the context like a glove.
  • The term isn't exactly common knowledge for many.
  • It might've confused a lot of people.

Arguments against:

Additional comments:

  • I don't think this needs a proposed revision at this point, but I would prefer the wording "A wingman can refer to a person who assists a friend in approaching a member of the opposite sex.", since the far more commonly understood meaning of "a wingman" would refer to somebody flying alongside you in your squadron of fighter planes. I would also be fine with something like "In this context, a wingman refers to a person who assists a friend in approaching a member of the opposite sex." Any reasonable objections?
    • I second that. This is not the original meaning of "wingman", so I would prefer these suggestions.
      • I went ahead and added "in this context" above (although I don't truly believe this is necessary, given that there is a big link that can be clicked if someone's confused). The verb "is" should not be watered down though.

Braves Win! Braves Win!

The page title "11 Division Titles!" likely refers to the Atlanta Braves, who, at the time of the toon, had won 11 consecutive division titles.

From: Teen Girl Squad Issue 11
Posted on: 16:56, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Arguments for:

  • The Braves have been mentioned various times by the Brothers Chaps (who live in the greater Atlanta area) in commentaries and, of course, with the various Lemke sightings.
  • There is a baseball stadium featured in this issue (complete with a double play).

Arguments against:

Additional comments:

  • The 11 consecutive seasons stretch back to 1995. The 1994 season was cut short by the strike, and the Braves were in second place at the time the season was canceled.
