[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2005, week 30

Well I think week 29 is well in hand, so any nominations for week 30? I'm personally up for BazookaJoe and The Paper's suggestion, Teen Girl Squad. Any other ideas? Thunderbird 09:11, 17 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Personally, I like Strong Sad's Lament. But that's just me. --acekirby13|My Talk 20:34, 18 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Actually I was just browsing the nominations page and noticed that little gem. I was just coming to suggest this one in TGS's stead. Maybe bump TGS to next week. That way if we miss a bit due to bandwidth, it's a pretty obvious feature anyways. Anybody else? Thunderbird 21:02, 18 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Sounds good. Now that you mention it, we probably will miss next week due to bandwith. --acekirby13|My Talk 22:46, 18 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I'm down with Strong Sad's Lament. —FireBird|Talk 23:25, 18 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Yea, I think we're gonna have to plan our featured articles around bandwidth until JoeyDay annouces an upgrade. I'm still a bit dissapointed about what happened with the floppy disk container. Thunderbird 04:14, 19 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Agreed. Perhaps when bandwith runs out, the article that was up should stay there for another week. I just don't want SSL to get the short end of the stick and be up there for two days, while TGS, a feature everyone knows about, runs up there at full strength for a week. --User:acekirby13/sig 15:06, 19 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Well since the month ends at the end of next week anyways, we should be able to easily gauge whether or not TGS was up long enough. If it makes it to Wednesday or Thursday, I figure an already high profile article like that can be counted as featured and done, in my opinion. And next week we could give SSL a full week. How's that sound? Thunderbird 23:41, 19 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Sounds good. Roll with it, Thunderbird. --User:acekirby13/sig 13:46, 20 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Okay, I cleaned up the article a bunch and added stuff to it, and also made up the feature for next week. Feel free to tidy it up further before the big day. Thunderbird 00:35, 21 Jul 2005 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2005, week 31

How about Teen Girl Squad for this... Likely disadvantaged week? Thunderbird 23:20, 26 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Why would this week be disadvantaged? Next Monday is August 1. — It's dot com 02:02, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Teen Girl Squad is a good idea. This article should be written relatively soon, so when/if the wiki goes down, there will be an article ready to go when the wiki comes back up at 0600 UTC Monday. —BazookaJoe 04:03, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Concern to be addressed: how long would the week have to progress for Strong Sad's Lament to be considered to have served its proper time as a Featured Article? If the wiki goes down, say, tonight or tomorrow, I'm willing to let SSL go for another week. —BazookaJoe 04:08, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Oh whups, slight miscalculation on my part. Somehow I was under the impression that NEXT WEEK was the last week of the month. Oops. Well, in any case, I figure if SSL makes it to say... Thursday, it's probably served it's purpose. FDC got less time than that. But in any case (again), what about bumping TGS again in favor of... Dum Dee Dum!

strongbad_email.exe?

Pros:

  • It is an article that will interest others now especially.
  • It is an article that will very soon benifit from random user's help.

Cons:

  • Disk four isn't quite ready, and might not be by Monday.
  • It is currently on the What's New section of the Main Page, which already makes it quite visible.

Ooooor...

  • We could wait a few weeks, until disk four is common, well known.

(Note, I don't think this format has to be strictly adhered to or anything, it just seems most useful in this case, as a simple demo, which could possibly be used more in the future. Simple, organized, easy to read. Overall though, I'm rooting for an informal, conversational atmosphere, not as cut and dry as STUFF). Thunderbird 04:47, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I think SBE.exe should be put off at least one week to give us a little time to get some good work done on it. By week 32, it will still be new enough to be timely and also benefit from casual users' help. We should postpone it briefly because who knows whether we'll receive our discs in time, or if we do, whether we'll even be able to edit the wiki. — It's dot com 04:56, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)
For what it's worth, UPS's tracking page is predicting that I will get the DVD tomorrow. Doesn't mean we'll get everything transcribed by Monday, though... --Jay (Talk) 05:05, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)
From the looks of things, we aren't going to make it too far into Wednesday before we go 509 for July. I'd say if we make it to noon we're lucky. -- Tom 05:10, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I'll get my DVD on Thursday according to the tracking info I have. Jay, do you want to figure a way to divvy up some of this? — It's dot com 05:13, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)
If Tom says tomorrow afternoon, I think we may as well just go with TGS, and set it up now, so that it's ready for the 1st, no stress. I have to go to bed right now, because I gotta be up for work in 6 1/2 hours, but if anyone just wants to get it done, be my guest. As long as everybody's happy with TGS. And in light of Tom's new information, that brings BazookaJoe's concerns back into light. Is Wednesday noon long enough for SSL to be up? Thunderbird 05:24, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2005, week 32

Perhaps strongbad_email.exe? 'Tis the season. —BazookaJoe 05:32, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)

My word. Not an ounce of discussion, even with about two hours and fifteen minutes left in the week. Methinks I will take the liberty of writing something. Anything. —BazookaJoe 21:44, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2005, week 33

Heh, sorry to see what happened last week. I was on vacation. But I'm back now... Somewhat. Working hard Thursday and Friday, but I might be here and there a bit. So any nominations for this week? Thunderbird 05:45, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest Videlectrix. Mostly because I really want a Stinkoman 20X6 article but those probably shouldn't be featured until after the game is finished. Besides, we haven't had a game-related article yet. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 06:45, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Ooooh. good call. I'm on board for that one. Anybody else have an opinion? Thunderbird 11:10, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I'm all for Videlectrix. I think that and ThoraxCorp are up there as some of TBC's best work. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 03:33, 13 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Videlectrix. Go for it. —BazookaJoe 03:38, 13 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Done and Done. Thunderbird 21:12, 13 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Oh! I just had a sudden thought. What about featuring Marshmallow's Last Stand instead, and moving Videlectrix to the following week? The only reason I suggest this, is that it might clear up last weeks Strong Bad Email somewhat, to those who don't know TBC original style. I dunno, just a thought. What do you think? Thunderbird 02:30, 14 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Edit: It's now Sunday morning. Since the article goes featured tommorrow, if I don't hear any other opinions before then, I'm gonna just go ahead and switch 'em tonight, move Videlectrix to next week. Unless anyone doesn't like the idea. Thunderbird 16:10, 14 Aug 2005 (UTC)
EDIT: Okay, it's done. Thanks BJ for the rewording. Thunderbird 01:18, 15 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Good idea! Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 04:50, 15 Aug 2005 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2005, week 34

Due to the recent Strong Bad Email, and without any visible opposition, I moved Videlectrix to this week in favor of Marshmallow's Last Stand Thunderbird 01:17, 15 Aug 2005 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2005, week 35

Well, let's get an early start on this one. Put alot of time an thought, and whatever into it. I'm thinking we hit... Main Pages this time. Whaddaya think? Thunderbird 02:26, 14 Aug 2005 (UTC)
(I'm also thinking instead of choosing the article of the week for the week following, it would be best to keep a week ahead, especially while the bandwidth problems are rampant. Which means hopefully we can get this one decided on by this weekend (20th/21st). Thunderbird 05:31, 18 Aug 2005 (UTC)
JoeyDay has suggested Strong Bad Email Statistics. I think we should do that one. It's a very interesting page, and the stats have been updated recently. All that needs writing is a good paragraph for the FA, which several people are already willing to do. —BazookaJoe 16:01, 22 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Which several people already did. Waiting for a feedback. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 16:07, 22 Aug 2005 (UTC)
BTW, it is my understanding that since the forums have been moved to a different server, the bandwidth problems are a thing of the past (or, at least, a thing of the distant future; either way, not a problem right now). — It's dot com 16:13, 22 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Oh really? Bandwidth is fixed? First I heard of this. Guess I missed Da memo... Since there wasn't one. But that's great about the bandwidth, sure makes me happy. Anyways, I'm up for Sbemail Stats. If you've already got the paragraph ready, then by all means, go for it. Thunderbird 22:26, 22 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Main Pages sounds good to me. I think that before we do the statisticts, we should do Strong Bad Email first. Rogue Leader / (my talk) 22:34, 22 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Strong Bad Email was the second FA that we did. —BazookaJoe 22:45, 22 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Oh, my bad. I think that the statistics would be a little hard to make into one paragraph. Don't ya think? Rogue Leader / (my talk) 22:48, 22 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I think the introductory paragraph that is there now would do just nicely. — It's dot com 22:53, 22 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Nevermind. I looked at that first paragraph, and seems good on the main page. Rogue Leader / (my talk) 22:55, 22 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Okay. Sounds good then. Let's do it! Thunderbird 22:59, 22 Aug 2005 (UTC)
And so now we cut to a montage of us preparing the article with background music? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:20, 23 Aug 2005 (UTC) (And thanks again)
*Looks around*
<.<
>.>
*sigh*
Okay, I'll do it. Thunderbird 23:50, 23 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Update: It's done, but I'm not totally happy with the wording to work in the title of the page. Feel free to improve it, anybody. Thunderbird 23:56, 23 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Heh heh. The image looks slanted. :p —FireBird|Talk 00:04, 24 Aug 2005 (UTC)
... Well BESIDES that, since that image is sorta supposed to be slanted, do you think that's the best image for the article? I couldn't choose which one to display... Thunderbird 00:27, 24 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, it's cool. Just making a small joke. —FireBird|Talk 00:28, 24 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I know, I got it. I was feigning annoyance. It really was quite clever. Well, I'm going over to next week. Thunderbird 01:16, 24 Aug 2005 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2005, week 36

Oooh, brand new feature block. So clean, so full of promise. Soo... Does anybody think we could make a good feature out of Main Pages, or does somebody have a better idea for the article? Thunderbird 01:18, 24 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Or another good suggestion, the final feature to be featured, Marzipan's Answering Machine. Thunderbird 05:49, 30 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I want to say Answering Machine, seeing as how it's the final feature. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 02:41, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Then again, with Labor Day upon us, is there an applicable article for that occasion? Perhaps Holiday Toons, since this marks the begnining of the Holiday season... I'm just throwing suggestions out, feel free to pick one of them, anyfolks. Thunderbird 04:04, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I was going to go with Peasant's Quest, but shoot, it need cleanup and we missed its one year anniversary by a month. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:16, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Yea, there's no rush. We can hold off until it's all clean and spiffy. Good choice for later though. Thunderbird 12:35, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Another suggestion, -now that it's been re-vamped and cleaned out-, we could try Sightings. Do any of these appeal to anybody? Thunderbird 00:51, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Not yet. There's still a lot of work to do. Those are some of the most neglected parts of the site. There needs to be a community project in order to correct all the spelling and grammar and comb through any of the minor or bogus sightings. Either Main Pages or Marzi's Answering Machine will do just fine. —BazookaJoe 00:55, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Sightings need to be alphabetized. They're in a random mess. - Joshua
I think Limozeen would be a good choice. No real preference, though. I'm down with whatever. —FireBird|Talk 01:13, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Limozeen's cool, but how about Homsar? I'd love to see his image on the front page for a whole week. :3 - Joshua
I think we could probably do themed features for all the characters, basically wait until just the right oppourtunity. Or something. Which now leaves:

Anybody wanna make the final decision? Personally I think Limozeen could wait and be a themed article too sometime, then again I'm not really sure if everybody's keen on too many themed articles. Thunderbird 01:49, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Until Perry Palaroncini is not on the shortest article list, I think Limozeen is out of the question. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 04:36, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Okay, then Holiday Toons, Main Pages, or Marzipan's Answering Machine? Or do we have the next three features right there? Thunderbird 00:53, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Pick something and go with it. I would prefer seeing Main Pages this week. —BazookaJoe 01:00, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Fine fine, I'll just go ahead with something then. Main Pages it is. Thunderbird 01:21, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2005, week 37

I'm thinking Marzipan's Answering Machine. So provided there's no negative feedback by Wednesday, I'll just go ahead and do it. Always open to suggestions or whatnot though. Thunderbird 08:20, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)

I started working on Limozeen's band members and will add much more info on them. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 10:54, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Mmmm... Good call. Don't forget to meantion how they were all played by different people for the Thanksgiving E-Cards, but all by the same person by flashback (At least, I think that's how it happened). Thunderbird 16:32, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Alright, come Wednesday, provided there's no better ideas or objections, Limozeen it is! Thunderbird 11:30, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
How about Free Country, USA? The Smoking Monkey made it all cool-like and it's as best as as a featured article should be. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:03, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC)
How about Stinkoman 20X6? Or should we wait until the game finishes?. Rogue Leader / (my talk) 22:47, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Personally I could wait until a week after it's finished, but I wouldn't mind hearing other peoples takes on it. Somehow I feel after it's over, TBC just might throw out a short based on the game... Free Country USA is also a good idea. I wouldn't mind doing FCUSA next week, and either Limozeen or Stinkoman 20X6 the week following, depending on whether or not it's finished by then. How does that sound? Thunderbird 00:22, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
That sounds good, and maybe get MAM done for this week, just to finish off the features. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 00:27, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I'm thinking we do Marzipan's Answering Machine; see if we can't add to or fix anything on Limozeen and Free Country, USA. —BazookaJoe 00:32, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
With all these good suggestions, I totally forgot about MAM. Two endorsments from upstanding Wikiers is good enough for me, Marzipan's Answering Machine it is. Thunderbird 01:26, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Marzipan's Answering Machine? It's not much of an article. And it doesn't seem to be very NPOV. In the first sentence, "even though it is actually quite funny" doesn't sound too encyclopedic. Does what I'm saying make sense? -- Tom 04:32, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Hmmm... Well I do realize the article needs work, if you'll look at the featured write up, it's somewhat further advanced, and will be replacing the paragraph currently on the article before the weekend. The revised article is about as long as TGS, which was also featured. If you feel strongly about it even after the revision, then of course we won't feature it. But it kinda feels right to feature all of the Toons categories at least once each. Thunderbird 04:39, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Much better. Good work. -- Tom 12:42, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I just did some more on it, made it more NPOV, ect. I think it's pretty good, if not maybe a bit long. It could maybe be shortened a bit for the feature paragraph. Thunderbird 03:53, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2005, week 38

Free Country, USA, thanks in great part to The Smoking Monkey, has become one of the best, most interesting, and most informative articles I've ever seen on this wiki. — It's dot com 02:48, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Hear hear. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 02:53, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I second the motion. Or third it. Whatever number we're up to now. This IS one of the best articles on the site. It certainly deserves the honour. --DorianGray
Hey, three nominations is good enough for me. AND it is a quality page. Very well then, FCUSA is it, Provided that Stinkoman 20X6 doesn't finish next week. Then it'll probably get bumped to the week after. Thunderbird 03:34, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)

The article is great, but the image.. I just don't think it says Free Country USA, more like Sweet Sweet Rainbow Birdge. I know it doesn't say anywhere that this is Free Country, but how about the globe with the USA shaped continent from Theme Song Video? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:56, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Hmmm... Okay, it's on the page now. Does that look better than the rainbow bridge? Thunderbird 13:23, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Much better. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:37, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Featured article for 2005, week 39

Any suggestions for this week? Limozeen or Holiday Toons perhaps? I somehow feel Holiday Toons could be formatted better, but I'm not sure how. Thunderbird 12:26, 13 Sep 2005 (UTC)

How about Games? Rogue Leader / (my talk) 20:10, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Hmmm... If we're gonna go that route, I'd rather hit Characters. Games could use with a bit of improved formatting or something. Thunderbird 23:37, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Again, I'm down with Limozeen. —FireBird|Talk 23:42, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I think characters would be a little strange to do. Limozeen is good. Maybe Dangeresque? Rogue Leader / (my talk) 23:48, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Hmmm... Limozeen or Dangeresque. Or... Maybe with the recent revival, The Cheat Commandos? I think any of the three would do, but if we pick Cheat Commandos, I wouldn't mind moving moving it ahead a week, switching with Free Country, USA. Thunderbird
I was thinking The Cheat Commandos since we haven't seen them for a while... Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 03:18, 16 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Great, sounds good to me. Then I'm thinking we move it to next week, and bump Free Country, USA to this week. Unless there are any objections, I'll get on it sometime tonight most likely. Thunderbird
Made base, but the paragraph needs more, somehow. Thunderbird 15:34, 17 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Okay, I think it's presentable now. Is that the correct usage of 'rehashing'? Thunderbird 23:04, 19 Sep 2005 (UTC)
