Fan Costume Commentary Images

Hello. Thanks for diligently working on the images until completion. Nice work! I can't help but think that the recent More Fan Costumes might have sparked your interest in the creation of a table. Just one thing: It looks like you replaced an image. Do you think you still may need Weencostume11.png or can it be safely deleted? Thanks, and I look forward to your future involvement in wiki projects. —THE PAPER PREEEOW 06:45, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

I can't exactly remember, but I think you respond to messages from someone else on the same page as the original message, so that's what I'll do. Hey, you're helscome! Any time. As for the replaced images, I actually replaced three of them. The image you mentioned in your message, this image, and this image have all been replaced and can be deleted. Though I'm a bit confused about your closing remark, since I've been involved with wiki projects for about two years, probably more. --Ye Olde VolatileChemical 01:00, 8 November 2005 (CST)

Your userpage

Your userpage looks rather broken in Firefox (I dunno if it's just in Firefox or if it's broken in other browsers too - I don't have IE handy to check). If you want to fix it, change the top like of the table to

{| border="1" cellpadding="2" width="255px" cellspacing="0" style="float:left;margin-right:10px"

and the top line of the sbemail blockquote to

<blockquote class="lappy email" style="margin-left:265px">

and it looks fine. I'd change it myself, but I don't like to tinker with peoples user pages without permission. --phlip TC 15:20, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

Looks fine in IE I R F 16:05, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
Thank you, Invisible Robot Fish. I made this page, as I make all the pages made by me, in Internet Explorer. I have no idea what's wrong with in in Lavawolf, or whatever it's called. But I'll try to fix it anyway. --VolatileChemical 02:09, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
Well, the adjustments have been made, but it is Pyrrhic victory, for my Lappy quote is now way on the down-low, and just because I made adjustments to help someone I don't know and have never heard of. And I can't even see the improvement in brokenness, since I'm still using IE. Oh, well, I don't go on my user page much anyway...speaking of, what the heck were you doing in my user page, Phlip? And what the heck were you checking my talk page for, Invisible Robot Fish? --VolatileChemical 02:15, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

Uh... VolatileChemical's been here a while... Like almost a year... --Jay (Talk) 03:57, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

And yet I see he was never properly welcomed, but point taken. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 03:59, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

The actual committee was formed after I joined, so I didn't get a formal welcoming either. That is, until Rogue Leader so nicely did so. — Lapper (talk) 04:07, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
I think of the "Welcome!" as being mostly for the purpose of providing helpful links to newcomers (in a nice, friendly package); I always check User contributions to make sure they aren't older than the Welcoming policy. But there's certainly no harm in making even regular users feel welcome; you could just say something like "I know you know where your towel is, but you never got a proper welcome. Welcome!" (but without using the template 'n' all). —AbdiViklas 04:11, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
Everyone's come out to talk about me! I feel so special! I do know where my towel is. Thanks, A Cup of Coffee, for helscoming me. Thanks, Jay, for pointing out my long time existence here. Seven months and 20 days, actually. Thanks, AbdiViklas, for claiming I need a welcoming despite having been welcomed before (On my previous account. Yeah. You gotta check for the things you have no way of knowing about). Thanks Lapper, for...um...complaining about your inopportune joining time on my talk page. Well, now that this little shindig of weirdosity is over...in the words of Vice President Al Gore, "Peace out, y'all!" --VolatileChemical 06:19, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

Is there a problem with my name?

Just wondering why you seem to be going out of your way in the Talk discussions to say that my name is too weird for you. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 00:00, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

It's just a joke, man. Lighten up. I mean, KieferSkunk? What's that supposed to mean? I'm just kind of weirded out about how everyone on this wiki seems to have really weird usernames that you have to ask about to understand. I especially dislike the kind that sound like a vaguely English word, but then end up just missing their goal (like that Upilsom guy that used to always hang around the forum). So, uh, no actual problem...I just prefer normality. Also, I feel it necessary to tease you since we were both on the two ends of the reason spectrum during that Update Dry Spell discussion over on the Main Page. --Yœuwre Œldæst ænd Volætiœlyste æofe Chæmicailœs (Your Oldest and Volatilest of Chemicals) 02:28, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

And VolatileChemical is normality? =3 --DorianGray
It's more normal than some of the stuff we get around here. And don't ever say "=3", whatever that means, on my this page again. And quit snooping around my user talk! --Too Lazy To Make Up A Clever Nickname 02:34, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
Let's play nice here folks. Be polite. Remember, people can't see you or know for sure your mood. Irony isn't always obvious, and blunt, raw text can easily appear rude. Be careful of the words you choose — what you intended might not be what others perceive, and what you read might not be as intended. -- Tom 02:49, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
Actually, Kiefer is a German name, and my online character happens to be a skunk, so Kiefer + Skunk = KieferSkunk. As for my question... I don't really have a problem with you disliking my choice of aliases, but please keep in mind what Tom said - the joke might have been funny to you, but it wasn't to me. If you don't want to type out my name, KS is fine. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 04:01, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Firstly: yes, of course, you're online character is a skunk. What the crap is an online character? Secondly: Tom, I appreciate your advice, but is it really that bad if I say that I find a user's name weird? By the way, I love your username. So original! That, to avoid wrongful perception, was sarcasm. Thirdly: to my previous poster, I think I'll just word my responses in a way that shows that I'm responding to you. --VolatileChemical 23:10, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Er, I'm not sure I quite catch the cut of your jib here, VolatileChemical. Specifically, I don't understand why you're going out of your way to be rude to people who are going out of their way to be cordial. Maybe it just seems that way. If I have misinterpreted your remarks, then just let me know. Incidentally, you know what else is an unusual username? FhqwhgadshgnsdbkhsdabkfabkveybvfIt's dot com 23:53, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
I'd just like to point out that, even though I find your name weird, I DON'T refer to you as anything other than VolatileChemical (or some shortening thereof - like Volatile, Chemical, VC, etc). I would appreciate it if you showed me the same courtesy - what you're doing now is awfully rude, regardless of how you feel about it. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 00:36, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
Okay, fine! Geese, man, lighten up. I'll call you KieferSkunk if it means that much to you. --VolatileChemical 01:24, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
Thank you. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 18:07, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
Any time. I was just seeing how long I could keep that joke going before people got upset. P.S. It's called subtlety, IDC. That account displeased me. So I had it liquidated. Simple as that. --VolatileChemical 19:06, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
Uh, I'll just...delete that comment forever. Anway, this is getting boring, so say whatever you want in this convo, I don't care, but I won't read it. I'm ingoring the "You have new messages" banner unless it's something interesting. --VolatileChemical 01:35, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

User Image

Mabye your image wouldn't look all fuzzy if you made it a GIF instead of a JPG.-- Benol, aka Coach B 12:42, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

I would, but I got the picture off the internet, and I'd have to edit it to get rid of all the compression. Thanks for the tip, though. Thanks for sneakin' round my back step. I mean—my user page. P.S. This wiki-image-related discussion page convo not being about my latest copyright infringement is a humongously positive change of pace. --VolatileChemical 02:44, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Sig-nature walks

Your sig is too big according to standards.]

The height's perfect, but, the length is a little too long.

Curse my desire for unneccesary Anglo-Saxon era prefixes! Now there's restrictions on sig lengths? What manner of moderatery 'tis shall plagueth mineself on the morrow? Maybe I'll just take the "eth" off. Oh, and I'd timestamp this remark, but that would be so autopoinetic. P.S. Is there, like, a page for sig standards? I need to read that.

Edit Conflicts

Hi. Citing your user page:

This is a cool website, but the main problem is that whenever a new toon comes out, the edit conflicts that follow immediately after would be hard for the United Nations to resolve. ... I got maybe a line and a half into the page text somewhere around every 7 minutes, if I was unusually fast, and it was usually on my fifth try, after I had realized that I had to copy and paste the text I wanted to add instead of taking the time to type it if I wanted to save it uninterrupted.

See, though, you worked on the transcript after Thunderbird placed the "inprogress" tempolate on the page. It'd seem to me that if you're so bothered by edit conflicts, you'd be sensitive about providing them to others who have followed policy and placed the template on the page. If you didn't know what that template meant, well, now you do, and we're cool. If you did, well, I hope you see what it';s purpose is, and we're still cool. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 16:50, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

That template always confuses me. If no one is supposed to edit it, then who writes the transcript? The person who puts up the template? Someone designated by the template up-puter? Are we to expect one person to write it while all other uses cower under the shadow of the in progress template, huddled together for wikiwarmth as we wait for the transcript to be completed? And by the by, the template's gone, so I'm gonna be editing that transcript all I want right about now. Vol Chem, 1st Tile of Ical
The person who is prepared to transcribe adds the template. Then when they are done they remove the template. If they forget, or if the template is sitting there for a long time, then usually a talk page post asks whether the transcript is still being worked on, and if no reply, it's removed.
As far as whether we all should "cower under the shadow of the in progress template, huddled together for wikiwarmth as we wait for the transcript to be completed" - yeah, that's basically the idea. There are other sections and other pages to work on.
Feel free to transcribe, but for your own good use the template. Then when someone ignores the template, you can get all smarmy with them, at which point they might point to this incident as a reason for the pot not to call the kettle black. Anyway, nice talking to you, have fun. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 17:09, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

"This section is in progress. As a courtesy, please do not edit this section until this tag is removed. You are still welcome to edit other parts of the page." I don't quite see how that's difficult to understand; it just asks you not to edit a specific section until the poster removes it. Is there something I'm missing? Should we reword it to be clearer?
