I'm a little confused. If you guys are just engaging in good-natured ribbing, please don't do it in a way that's confusing to the rest of us watching. If you are, in fact, trading petty insults and ultimately meaningless accusations, then knock it off. Y'all know better. ::::::''"Forcing all localities to run their clocks in synchrony would solve this problem, but under such a scheme, in many places the time shown by clocks at sunrise and sunset would differ too markedly from the solar time values to which people are accustomed. As a compromise, a scheme was devised where the surface of the planet was divided into twenty four "time zones", each separated by 15° of longitude and offset by one hour from its neighbor. Under this scheme, local time is always close to mean solar time, while comparing the time in different places is a simple matter of adding or subtracting whole hours."'' - Wikipedia on why we have [[Wikipedia:Time zone|timezones]]. {{User:Kookykman/sig}}

::(x3) One more suggestion (don't you feel rich?): use the "Show preview" button once you've voted to make sure it came out in the right place; '''then''' click "Save page." Also, you can see all these instructions in pretty colors at the top of [[HRWiki:STUFF]], above the voting. And yeah, there are only two issues being voted on at the moment. (And if all of this seems daunting, don't worry; the great thing about wiki is that if you make a mistake, it can be fixed in a split second!) —[[User:AbdiViklas|AbdiViklas]] 23:49, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome!

Note: I've sized this welcome message down because I want to keep it, but I don't want to have to scroll down as far to get to my recent messages.

Welcome to the Homestar Runner Wiki! I wanted to extend a personal welcome, since I believe strongly that a Wiki should be a democratic and non-threatening place where everyone feels like they can contribute. Unfortunately it can be very frustrating at first if you make changes that are ignored or changed back by other users, but if so I encourage you to hang in there; as you get a feel for the way things are done around here you'll feel more at home. That was my experience, anyway!

If you need any help, feel free to ask anyone on the welcoming committee (like me!). You can also post questions on the FAQ talk page.

Here are some tips to get you started:

 • If you need general information, editing tips, or answers to frequently asked questions, check out the help page.
 • Before you do any significant editing, be sure to familiarize yourself with our wiki standards.
 • Read up on the rules and guidelines for your user page. What you're reading right now, by the way, is the "Talk:" page that goes with your user page. It's a good way to communicate directly with specific users. The best way to respond, though, is on the same user page where the conversation was started. E.g. if you have a question, go to my user talk page and edit it, then watch my page (via Recent changes) for a response.
 • If you're not sure what you can do to help out, head over to The Stick.
 • If you're looking for more community interaction, you can also register over at our forum and get More Community Interaction Than You Or Your Grandmother Can Handle!
 • Above all, be bold and have fun!

Feel free to delete this message when you're done reading it. (In general, it's frowned on to delete other people's input on talk pages, but this entry is just here to be helpful. When it's done being helpful, I guarantee you won't hurt my feelings by ditching it!)

Sincerely,
AbdiViklas and the rest of the welcoming committee (23:25, 14 October 2005 (UTC))

[edit] New HRwiki Page

Making the new wiki page has come up against a few (hopefully minor) roadblocks, your help would be very appreciated! --Stux 18:14, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

Holy crap, they're trying to delete the page before it even exists! - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
As I mentioned in the other wiki, I must thank you as well for such a speedy reply. :) --Stux 21:11, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
It's nothing. It's my super power. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
I think, mustering extra support for this is in order. BTW that was an uh... interesting comment you posted there. --Stux 21:23, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
What was an interesting comment? - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)

[edit] Edit summary discrepancy

Hey Kookykman. The edit summary on this edit reads "Accepted both revisions." However, you actually declined both revisions. Just so you know. By the way, if you really did mean to accept the fact, let me point out that you can currently only vote to accept one or the other, not both. And in that case, I should point out that the top one is the one with a chance. — It's dot com 22:02, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

Sorry, I'll fix that tomorrow. I've got a Halloween party to go to right now. Thanks! - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
Heh, it's a party with internet access. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
Those are the best kind. Not that I'd know, actually... --DorianGray
I'm sorry to bother you again, but the edit summary of when you switched your vote read "Put original vote in wrong place." However, you actually switched your vote on the revision. The only reason I bring it up is because we're actually trying to eliminate the revision altogether since it's not that different from the original, and since it doesn't stand much of a chance of being accepted (especially compared to the original version). — It's dot com 15:45, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
Well, I've really got this whole STUFF thing perfected, haven't I? Thanks for bringing it up. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
No probalo. :) — It's dot com

[edit] STUFFing

Hey! Kookykman! Just wanted to drop you a line regarding STUFF. Firstly, the item you just STUFF'd has already gone through the process and was declined 17-2. The record is on the talk page. Also, for anonymous edits that are not so great (I know you liked that one), it is not necessary to immediately go to STUFF. If it constantly gets put up, then we can take care of it that way, but an IP "reach" fun fact can simply get the old Deltaco straightaway. Thanks for the time, see you around. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 21:52, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. I did notice the previous STUFF landslide a bit too late. Even then, I figured that this one was in depth. Well, take car. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
On the other hand, there is the little-used ability to contest a fun fact... I've never been present for one, and the only one I recall was the infamous 'Change of Pace' fact. I'm not sure this one totally deserves the contesting, but it's worth looking into anyway. --DorianGray
Although this one is a whole lot less infamous than "Change of Pace", I may like to contest this one, if it's not too impossible. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
Before you go making a fuss, I would like to say that making the fact include more information is not going to make people that don't think it's a reference change their mind. They will still feel there's no reference, and therefore decline the revision. Plus the only way to contest a fun fact is to find a flaw in the voting process, of which there was none. Just trying to save us all time. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 22:02, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
Thanks. Sorry about acting a little amateur there. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
Don't sweat it. By the way, you changed the size of the text of the welcome notice, but it doesn't actually make the page any shorter. Just thought you should know. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 22:08, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
Yeah. It's still less intrusive when I'm browsing my talk, though. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)

[edit] Pewter Van Buren award

If someone wants to come along and spruce up my page a little bit, it'd be much obliged. In fact, I might award a Pewter Van Buren award for it. (P.S.: Would it be okay if I gave out a Pewter Van Buren every week or so to congratulate great contributions to the wiki?) - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)

you definately should. We could always use a new award. And yeah, I can "spruce" up your page. If you tell me what to put on. — talk Bubsty edits 23:50, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
Actually, the whole "spruce up" thing was just a general welcome to edit any coding/spelling/grammar errors you see. Well, I guess I'll start giving out the Pewter Van Buren at some point. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)

[edit] Nicknames linkage?

Hi Kookykman - I noticed you backed out my changes on Nicknames for linking the toons and emails that Homestar has. Your comment was "no other character has this". Can you tell me what the other characters don't have? It looks like they all have links to the toons their nicknames came from. - KieferSkunk 22:34, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

Sorry, I RV'd the wrong change. Feel free to change it back, Kiefer. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)

[edit] Signature Recipes

Hi, it's me again. :) In response to your comment in my talk about our sigs: I actually modeled my sig after yours. I believe you've been here a lot longer than I have, and when I decided to do a sig of my own, I thought yours was the best one to base mine off of. Hope I didn't offend. :) — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 21:08, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

Ach, I thought that I based my sig after yours! Well, defintely no offense taken. Imitation is the best form of flattery, no? :) - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)

Whoa! It's Homesar! You don't have the ASCII source available do ya? Is this the java client that you're using? So you have a program that generates ASCII art? --Stux 05:32, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

No problem! I hope you didn't mind. There's also a problem with his right foot (from our point of view), the questionmark doesn't line up (how fitting), but I don't know how to fix it. --Stux 21:01, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
Didn't mind at all. Say, want to come to the IRC channel? Me and Homestramy are bored. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
Lol thanks for the invitation, but unfortunately I'm in the lab and I don't have my IRC client here. :( --Stux 21:23, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
Have you guys seen these?--Stux 22:50, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
By the way, we always have the web applet. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
Yeah, I used it once before... briefly. I'm not too keen about using it, i'd rather use a regular client. And it's harder to work and chat, whereas I can interlieve wiki...ing and "working". :) Eh but that can change ;) Thanks though! --Stux 00:09, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

It's true, it's true! I heard it with my own two eyes!!!!! Thunderbird 23:40, 25 November 2005 (UTC)
It's not true! And Thunderbird used to have 2 personal images on his userpage! - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
So? I fixed it once another user figured me out! Cookieman, stop digging up the past! Thunderbird 23:56, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

*Tried*. *Ended up blocking myself again*. *Confused*, How did THAT happen? Thunderbird 02:23, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

I'm a little confused. If you guys are just engaging in good-natured ribbing, please don't do it in a way that's confusing to the rest of us watching. If you are, in fact, trading petty insults and ultimately meaningless accusations, then knock it off. Y'all know better. (Now let's go break open that glow-stick and pour it into Homestar Runner's Mountain Dew. I heard they have to pump your stomach when you drink that stuff.) —AbdiViklas 03:24, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

Sorry if it was confusing. Tis' all in good fun. Such is the side effects from ye olde chat channel. They'll drive a man insane. Thunderbird 04:19, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Coo'. I really ought to get on there some time. (But as if I don't already spend too much time here! Maybe I won't.) —AbdiViklas 04:29, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, you really should. It was a blast. I was actually present for this conversation--and other wild discussions--and, lemme tell ya, we coulda used you. It was a bit quiet, I think (although it was my first time visiting, actually). It's a good place to go when the wiki is slow. --DorianGray
Sorry about that, Abdi. 'Twas indeed good natured ribbing. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
Man.. I miss all the fun! I'm logged in right now and I'm the only one there (Exept for JelloB_ and Tom39Away, but they don't say anything). Why do earth have timezones, why oh why?! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:55, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
"Forcing all localities to run their clocks in synchrony would solve this problem, but under such a scheme, in many places the time shown by clocks at sunrise and sunset would differ too markedly from the solar time values to which people are accustomed. As a compromise, a scheme was devised where the surface of the planet was divided into twenty four "time zones", each separated by 15° of longitude and offset by one hour from its neighbor. Under this scheme, local time is always close to mean solar time, while comparing the time in different places is a simple matter of adding or subtracting whole hours." - Wikipedia on why we have timezones. KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
Thank you obvious Dan. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 18:18, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Hey, ask a smart question, get a stupid answer. With me, anyway. :P - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)

[edit] Excuse me, Mr. Kookykman.

No, this is not bad. I'm new, and I just wanted to ask a few questions to a user that's on currently. Er..I wantedto vote on a STUFF, and I'm confused. How do you vote? Where? Thanks in advance. -Grabboarm700

Let me tell you, first thing, thank you so much for asking for my help, it's an honor. :) Now then, STUFF 101:

Click "edit" inside one of the boxes. Keep scrolling down until you see something that looks like:

{{stuffaccept}}
#{{User:Kookykman/sig}}
#{{User:Example/sig}}

{{stuffdecline}}
#[[User:Example|Example]]
Sign at the bottom of the list you want (accept or decline) with this code:

Click "save page", and you're in! - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
Dagnabbit, edit conflict. I was gonna answer before you kooky. But I think my answer is better, so I'm still gonna post it.

1. First, edit the stuff page. (Duh).
2. There should be a section that says:
{{stuffaccept}}
NAMES OF USERS
<!--# list-->
{{stuffdecline}}
<!--# list-->
MORE NAMES OF USERS
{{stuffendvotes}}
3. Now here's where you gotta choose to accept, or to decline. If you want to accept, then...
{{stuffaccept}}
<!--# list-->
NAMES OF USERS
ADD YOUR NAME HERE
{{stuffdecline}}
<!--# list-->
MORE NAMES OF USERS
{{stuffendvotes}}
</nowiki> 4. If you decline, then...
{{stuffaccept}}
<!--# list-->
NAMES OF USERS
{{stuffdecline}}
<!--# list-->
MORE NAMES OF USERS
ADD YOUR NAME HERE
{{stuffendvotes}}
5. So... thats it!

Sorry, I didn't say it good...I know all that stuff (No pun intended), but where do I vote? I looked on the STUFF page, and it only showed accepted and declined Fun Facts, no ones where I could vote. -Grabboarm700

STUFF. :) - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
Edit Conflict x2 Just a reminder: make sure that you don't mistakenly vote on a STUFF archive page like (*ahem!*) yours truly. :) --Stux 23:48, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
(x3) One more suggestion (don't you feel rich?): use the "Show preview" button once you've voted to make sure it came out in the right place; then click "Save page." Also, you can see all these instructions in pretty colors at the top of HRWiki:STUFF, above the voting. And yeah, there are only two issues being voted on at the moment. (And if all of this seems daunting, don't worry; the great thing about wiki is that if you make a mistake, it can be fixed in a split second!) —AbdiViklas 23:49, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

<coachz> Oh, now I understand! </coachz> Thanks, guys! Oh, and by the way, I know some of this stuff. I'm on the fanstuff wiki. -Grabboarm700

I didn't think that Fanstuff had STUFF... - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)

No, it doesn't. I meant subpages and all dat stuff. -Grabboarm700

Oh, okay. Gotcha. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)

[edit] Van Buren

Hi Kookykman, Just a note: I don't deserve the van Buren award you gave me, all the work was done by Homestramy20, not me. I ask that you thank her properly. --Stux 01:29, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

Alright. But since you were so truthful about it, you can keep yours too. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)

[edit] public service announcement

you stated the following: THE FOLLOWING IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: I have two "K"s in my name, folks.

Should that say, "I have THREE 'K's' in my name..."? I R F 17:35, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

D'oh! I fogot how to spell my own name again. Thanks. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)

[edit] Ah, good ol' IRC

I was just strolling around your user page when I saw your "Super Happy Fun Time Chili Cook-off" quote. Good times, man, good times. The chili didn't end up tasting very good though. It had too high of an electricial charge. Probably had something to do with someone dunking a TV in there. Well, while I'm here I have a commonly ignored page for you: Index Page or, as the Dotcominator likes to call it, "Come On In". —Zelinda 01:21, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

"The Dotcominator"? — It's dot com
Erm, yes... the Dotcominator. It's sort of my "thing" to add -inator, -meister, or -arino to people's names. I have a nickname for a lot of people on the wiki (Pa-stramy, "minus h" for Dolpins, and of course the big JD), but I lack for for you, so I just threw that -inator in there. —Zelinda 01:45, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
Oh, okay. So then you're not, like, calling me a terminator or something. Cool. — It's dot com 01:49, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Happy New Year!

I know it's a little late, I just wanted to wish you a happy new year, and may the Van Buran Award be as big as the Oscars! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 10:45, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I would do some kind of incredibly funny New Year's joke right now, but I'm tired. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
