"A dorky chef's hat threatens to tear them apart..."

Homestar Runner and Marzipan, although officially dating, have a rather tenuous relationship, as has been evidenced several times. Homestar frequently insults Marzipan (although he may not realize that he is doing so), and Marzipan occasionally treats Homestar with contempt. Occasionally, they even break up or mention breaking up. Nevertheless, they always end up together again. Their relationship seems to be the opposite of that between The Homestar Runner and Old-Timey Marzipan, who are seldom seen apart.

Homestar offending Marzipan

Marzipan offending Homestar

  • In Search of the Yello Dello: Marzipan slaps Homestar after falsely assuming he killed the Yello Dello.
  • Marzipan's Character Video: Marzipan says that she and Homestar are one hot item when she says they are, after which she sometimes says "And today we are not." (sometimes she says "And today we are", and when she does, she "offends" Homestar by leaving to the chinchilla protest.)
  • Sensitive to Bees: After Homestar says Marzipan can tell people that he sang with her, she responds, "No thanks!"
  • Fall Float Parade: Marzipan is unsympathetic to Homestar's plight of being stuck in a pile of swee-atshirts.
  • Email narrator: Marzipan says Homestar looks like a dork in his chef hat.
  • Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 14.2: Marzipan fails to rescue Homestar from quicksand, although it is possible that Homestar is not really sinking.

Homestar and Marzipan Breaking Up

  • Pumpkin Carve-nival: Marzipan says she's breaking up with Homestar after he gives her pumpkin last place (although she learns later that it was really Strong Bad dressed as Homestar who gave her last place).
  • Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 9.2: Homestar breaks up with Marzipan on her answering machine because he believes that she told him to "go away and pick up sticks". He later realizes that this is untrue and seeks to cover up his rash message.
  • Store: In the third Store Thank You Message, Homestar tells Marzipan to go away, and she responds, "All right, broken up."
  • Email lady...ing: Marzipan asks Homestar if she's broken up with him yet, and he replies, "Yeah, a couple times."
  • Halloween Potion-ma-jig: In the Cycloptic Homestar ending, Marzipan tells Homestar "I don't think you have to worry about dating anyone from now on," to which Homestar responds, "Hooray!"
