Lapper

Welcome to me

Hey everyone. This is Lapper here, or you can call me Alex. I'm a sixteen-year-old guy living in Missouri, United States. Feel free to come to me with concerns, questions, or requests of service at any time. Homestar Runner has been a large interest of mine for a long time, and I hope to see that it keeps doing as well as this wiki is.

Science again! I said science again!

I was turned on to Homestar at the same time the stunt double email came out, late July 2003. It was then that I first saw Homestar at a local Science Center's Internet station, saw Strong Bad do all of his own stunts, and I was hooked immediately. Every single day I was on the site, watching the 'toons, playing the games, and exploring the easter eggs. Every part of the site was wonderful.

No, I'm pretty sure it was dot-wiki

In April of 2005, I discovered the Homestar Runner Wiki through a Google search some forgotten Saturday morning. I was amazed with how the wiki knew what was on the Homestar site before even I did. I created an account as fast as I could, for I wanted to be part of the community, to contribute my knowledge. However, during this initial period, my contributions were sparse. I mostly watched and learned, trying to pick up MediaWiki syntax while subtly making the occasional edit. More recently, a now good friend of mine welcomed me to this wiki after seeing one of my edits. I saw the array of helpful links and was suddenly enlightened. I opened my eyes and saw the wiki for the first time. It was at this point that one thing led to another. I since have become outgoing and active not only in the content of HRWiki, but also in the community.

And who could resist memorizing all these fabulous stats?

  • Real name: Alex, since birth, probably. "Lapper" is a nickname from school a few years ago, and is my IRC handle, forum handle, and wiki handle. "Lapper" is not, in any way, a reference to Lappy 486.
  • Rank: Sysop, since March of 2006. Although it is easy to categorize users into "who will become a sysop" and "who won't"; it all comes down to the fact that the more you put into the wiki, the more you'll get out.
  • HRWiki time: 19 months, since April of 2005. This is part of the "more you put in" idea. Sticking with this project has been really great, and I intend to continue doing so as long as possible.
  • IRC time: 12 months, since October of 2005. The #hrwiki chat channel is great fun. All the cool guys are there, so check it out. You can also find me around #freenode-social, #wikia, and ##cabal, among several others.
  • Wikiholic: 3035, hovering around the top 20 in Wikipedia. Yeah, HRWiki is that great.
  • IQ: 136, last checked in 2006. Yes, it's somewhat high, no, I'm not a genius, and yes, it's higher than Rogue's.
  • WPM: 65, last checked in 2006. I'm a pretty good typist, and can do dictation fairly well. It's good for things like XHTML, CSS, and the immortal TriviaTime.
  • Site: http://lapper.stevebalogh.com/, since August of 2006. The site's basically a weekly collection of various links. I don't know, I'd check it out if I were you. It'd make Lapper happy....

What's the best thing you've ever seen, done, eaten?

Homestar Quotes

  • Homestar Runner: Oh, hey, Marzipan! ... I can't think of what to get my girlfriend for Valentine's Day. Um, she's kind of annoying, and overbearing, and kind of a big hippie. So if you could buh... oh.
  • Homestar Runner: And he still kinda owes me five bucks. So, if you could just... fork it over....
  • Strong Bad: The martinis have gone straight to their heads. The neighbors will probably call the cops.
  • Homestar Runner: {cracking up} What were you doing with Mike this morning, Marzipan?!
  • Dolph Hauldhagen: How many times a day do you ask yourself, "Why do I suck?" I firmly believe that with my battle axe lessons, we can cut that down to two or three.

User Quotes
