[edit] Make a hole with a fun fact

The rhythm of Strong Bad's email song is taken from the They Might Be Giants song Ana Ng – the first time is the same as the rhythm part under the verse, and the second time is this and the vocal rhythm mixed together.

Arguments for:

  • The rhythm matches exactly
  • There is already a heavy TMBG influence on the email (they wrote the music for the song Strong Bad sings)
    • They also wrote the song for the email.

Arguments against:

Additional comments:

  • At Amazon there is a brief clip of the end of the first chorus into the second verse.
  • In fact, the second time he sings the phrase, the new voice is the rhythm of the lyric of the verse. Should this be worked in somehow?
    • Hey, you're right, and here I thought it was just an echo... I think this is pretty clearly a reference now... any complaints if I summarily verdict this now?
      • I always thought it was an echo, but the "e-"'s together and not echoed always bothered me. Now it's all clear to me. And I think this is indisputable now.
  • Currently the transcript says the second voice is an echo - that will need to change when this is accepted.
  • As much as I love Ana Ng, I can't hear it. Can someone make an OGG of the two songs overlaid?
    • Forget it, I just happened upon it on the good 'ol TMBG Clock Radio, and I hear it perfectly.

[edit] First Song on Our STUFF'd Album

Strong Bad introduces his next song in the same manner that Cheap Trick frontman Robin Zander famously introduced "Surrender" on their landmark album Live at Budokan: "This is the first song off our new album!"

Arguments for:

  • The two phrases sound remarkably similar.

Arguments against:

  • It seems to be a big stretch.
  • I'm pretty very sure more people have used wording like this.
  • The same phrase from a different CD was declined

[edit] No Soup for You!!

The Cheat pouring hot soup on Homestar's eyes is a reference to the HBO Series OZ, Episode 305; U.S. Male, where this is done to inmates Poet and Pierce. This episode aired on 7/28/1999.
