Norman vs. Normal

For the "S to the C, R O double L, my name is not Norman, but still I rock well!" rap, I always thought of it as "S to the C, R O double L, my name is not normal, but still I rock well!" If I'm the only one, then I'll shut up, but yeah. ~senor

  • It's certainly Norman, because Norman Rockwell is a famous painter. It's a joke. Aurora the Homestar Coder 15:28, 9 Apr 2005 (MDT)
    • Okay, thanks. :)
      • It could also be a referance to those old emerald nuts ads, where, in one, there are two guys yelling "I am Norman and I am great! I am Norman and I am also great! I'm a greater Norman then you are!" etc. etc. — talk Bubsty edits 04:23, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

A long one

Is it me, or has the current rap been kept longer than the previous ones? -Kinsey

Yes, it has. —FireBird|Talk 15:35, 29 May 2005 (UTC)

Broken links

All the links to the sbemail raps on http://e2tl.playvectrex.com just come up with a "HTTP 404 Not Found" page.

These three links are the only ones that do work: http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail_lappy.swf http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail.swf http://porplemontage.com/media/sbemail_raps/Scroll%20it.swf The Tire 23:16, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I already changed all of these over to my mirror, problem solved. --Kit

Two things

First, the previous scroll rap link (scroll buttons and the Lappy) actually gives the present one.

Second, that mention of the Coach Z/Strong Bad rap duet being a reference to rampage is highly doubtful.. considering rampage came way after.

-- Mithent 12:56, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I know it would be hard now, but...

It would be cool if we had which emails the scroll button songs were active for, like for the second latest "119-130" or the latest "131-present."

Also, these shouldn't be called 'Email Raps,' they should be called 'Scroll Button Songs' or 'Scroll Button Raps' or something along those lines. »ßenit, known as señor« 23:08, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

The newest Scroll Button Song

The newest scroll button song that appeared after email 131 is also the song that Marzipan sings in replacement. Strong Bad says it is the worst song ever, but apparently he uses it now. - EMJS

Smoking crack

I don't believe that Coach Z is saying anything about smoking crack in the scroll button rap duet, I *think* he is saying then you must go crash, but I could be wrong.

I definitly hear a "sh" at the end of Coach Z's rap...besides i doubt The Brothers would put such a drug reference, especially one encouraging drug use... -- Tony Stony 01:57, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Oh, he's saying crack. Make no mistake. For one thing, it rhymes with "attack." But the absolute proof is the fact that the Chaps changed it so quickly. Like, within a couple days. I don't know the exact time frame - could have sworn the dates used to be printed on this page.

I think someone found TBC explicitly saying that it's "smoke crack." But he wasn't saying "must" as in "you should do this," he was saying it as in "you probably already do." --Jay (Talk) 19:08, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I'm just saying that if you listen to it with speakers on full tilt I hear coach z saying "crash"...then again it might just be Strong Bad begining to say "scroll"...but i still hear a soft "sh" rather than a hard "ck"... -- Tony Stony 23:01, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I recommend some new speakers.
Crack rhymes with attack. That's proof enough for me. Aurora the Homestar Coder 23:08, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Yes, I agree. Crack=attack. That's definitley enüff prüff for me. --VolatileChemical 20:44, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I always thought it was: CZ: And if you're tryin' to fade me then you must smoke grass! SB: Scroll buttons aww yeah like that heart attack. I guess that doesn't really rhyme, but it's what it sounded like to me.

And as a side note, yes, they did not mean: "SMOKE IT!" They meant it as: "If you're making fun of me then obviosly you smoke something." --Kit

crash is what I hear --jake 05:33, 21 Aug 2005 (UTC)

He definitely says "smoke crash," but I think that's just his accent acting up. - Joshua

Cut off

In the new "scroll buttons and random" rap, a sound clip of SB saying "Wha-" can be heard at the end. The sound clip is SB saying something else, but all we hear is "Wha-".

  • I think that this has more to do with your flash player than it does the scroll button rap. Sometimes, (and I have no idea why), the sound doesn't cut off when it's supposed to. You probably heard the start of one of the random.bat noises. --Blu Aardvark (talk) (edits) 11:13, 5 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Moving Suggestion

I think this should be moved to "Strong Bad Scroll Button Raps". It has more relevance. -- Super Sam 14:59, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)

I agree with Super Sam. --69.40.181.52 15:04, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Sorry, I wasn't logged in. I agree with Super Sam --Smileyface11945 15:06, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Well, I hear no objections, so I'll move it. -- Super Sam 12:35, 28 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I don't like it, and there should be more of a consensus before a move like that. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 12:37, 28 Sep 2005 (UTC)
What is it called in the DVD? (If they call it something...) Anyway, I'm fine either way. - Joshua

It would be nice to know why you object. (Some HSR themed username and Lapper) To me, Email Raps are the things Strong Bad says at the start of each email. Scroll Button Raps/Songs/Whatever are the things Strong Bad says on the menu page. -- Super Sam 12:53, 28 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Update: Alright, following Joshua's suggestion, I looked at the DVD page. (strongbad_email.exe_Disc_One) It says this:
Scroll Button Songs: A video featuring every scroll button rap up until the "S to the C" rap.
I think that speaks for itself. -- Super Sam 12:58, 28 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Yep. Scroll Button Rap. Any objections now? - Joshua
For clarification - "Scroll Button Songs" is what it's called on the DVD. The "every scroll button rap" part was added by the wiki, saying what it was, but it's only called "Songs" on the DVD itself. --phlip TC 17:05, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

I think I will move it back now. Rogue Leader / (my talk) 13:35, 2 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Why? What's the problem now? When you object to something, you really should say why. -- Super Sam 07:00, 3 Oct 2005 (UTC)
  • Unless I'm mistaken, his message was in response to the above discussion, and this was a comment stating that he was moving the page back to Strong Bad Email Raps. Which is were it is now. --Blu Aardvark (talk) (edits) 07:08, 3 Oct 2005 (UTC)

I figured that. I want to know why he moved it back. -- Super Sam 10:05, 5 Oct 2005 (UTC)

  • Oh, I see. I mis-read the discussion, and thought it was a decision reached by consensus. Looking over it again, I see your point. Disregard. --Blu Aardvark (talk) (edits) 11:10, 5 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Alright. Now, unless I start getting some valid reasons why this should not be moved. "Scroll Button Songs" is the official name, as noted on this page. It's been almost a month. Reasons, or I'm moving it. -- Super Sam 12:02, 11 October 2005 (UTC)

Do it. Accuracy is best. - Joshua

Top H*R Listen button & Firefox

For most of my browsing I use firefox, and firefox gives you an interesting feature: it puts the site icons next to some of the links placed in this wiki (if you use firefox or netscape you'll know what i'm talking about, if you use IE or Opera you won't see anything). For the longest time I thought this was a feature of the wiki -- that it automatically added these sprites into the HTML code. I found out that it doesn't when I surfed this page. Ok -- on to my point in this page. If you surf this page with firefox, the first "Listen" button is shifted to the left because of the icon, and so it crossed the table boundaries, looking not-so-good! IE and opera do not do this, as I mentioned earlier, and so they look fine and line up fine.

  • Does anybody have an explanation as to why Firefox does this with this site
  • Does anyone have good suggestions as to making that table look good in both Firefox and IE (other than the one i thought of which was to make that column bigger).

--Stux 13:49, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

I saw what you were talking about. all it needed is just a fixed width. I set it up to 70. looks good? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:13, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
Looks great! Thanks! It bothers me though that only certain users will see what we're talking about. They probably thing we're crazy ;)... Ironic ain't it? --Stux 16:12, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
By the way, it isn't Firefox inserting the icons. The Wiki does insert them by itself, but only certain browsers (i.e. Firefox) can see them. If you are on a different browser, and wondering what we're talking about, see this image. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 17:33, 13 October 2005 (BST)
Ahhh! Thank you! That clears things up a lot! If you don't mind, I'll post a link to the discussion being shown in the screenshot. --Stux 17:06, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
Yes, those icons are displayed using CSS3. See the W3C specs for more information. Oh, and in addition to Firefox/Mozilla/Seamonkey/Gecko etc., I pretty sure Safari supports them, but I don't have a Mac so I couldn't tell you for sure. -- Tom 20:27, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
