'Not sure when?' section?
Should there be one? Because you may never know when a page is updated and you don't know when. Like Coach Z's quote in 'The House That Gave Sucky Treats', or the new pop up in the museum for 'The Isle of Pom'.
- 1)Sign your posts.
- 2)When you discover it, post it on the template with the date. (At least, I think.) →FireBird
- You could always post something that you aren't sure about on the discussion page. -- Tom 20:17, 2 Jan 2005 (MST)
Updating this page for 2005
This page could do with a link to H*R.com updates 2005 some time soon. -- Mithent 06:59, 7 Jan 2005 (MST)
- Done. -- Tom 21:38, 7 Jan 2005 (MST)
And shouldn't it say "since January 3, 2005" instead of "since January 5, 2005"? --Tuquee 07:41, 10 Jan 2005 (MST)
- Fixed. -- Tom 10:32, 10 Jan 2005 (MST)
Experimental Film 'Official' TMBG video
On January 10th, They Might Be Giants released the official video of Experimental Film. It's quite a bit different than the one on H*R.com. While it's not directly on the site, it probably deserves mention on the updates page.
The video can be viewed (iTunes required) at:
- Sweet. I've added it to the list. -- Tom 16:54, 12 Jan 2005 (MST)
Updates and 2005 updates page template
Wouldn't it make it a little cleaner between the 2005 updates page and the main updates page (which is updated more regularly than the 2005 page) to have a template for the 2005 updates, and also put that on the main updates page? Then you could just stick what's left of 2004 below the template. --AndrewNeo 18:29, 7 Mar 2005 (MST)
- Looking at that, I guess it wouldn't work considering we only keep half a year's worth of updates. --AndrewNeo 18:31, 7 Mar 2005 (MST)
A record for all changes
Does anyone else think that the text for 'A record of all changes from January 3rd to...' ect should be changed to just 'January 1st?'. (And all the other accompanying years, for example: January 6th - December 16th = January 1st - December 31st, for example, in 2003). I find it kinda confusing, like we somehow missed the first few days and last few of the year or something. It's still a record of changes for those two days, it just so happened that nothing was updated. Does anyone agree with me on this? ?Thunderbird? 18:03, 7 Mar 2005 (MST)
- Actually, we probably don't need any part about the month and day. Would something like "A record of all the changes in 2004." work? -- Tom 18:19, 7 Mar 2005 (MST)
- Sounds good to me. You wanna change 'em? (See also 2001 talk page) ?Thunderbird? 19:38, 11 Mar 2005 (MST)
Stinkoman 20X6 Music
It says that on April 2, Stinkoman 20X6 music was added to the Videlectrix site. I thought it had been there before then, but I don't know the exact date. «Rob»
Man! No update!
It's been, like, 4 days without anything! What is taking them so long? --VolatileChemical 17:13, 7 Apr 2005 (MDT)
- It's probable that they consider HomestarRunner.com PAY PLUS! to be this week's update. Aurora the Homestar Coder 17:31, 7 Apr 2005 (MDT)
Well, we got that on Sunday, last week. Making the trip to getting to PAY PLUS about 30 seconds longer is no update. --VolatileChemical 20:01, 7 Apr 2005 (MDT)
- Wow. I hope you're just kidding, Volatile, because we got long pants and PAY PLUS last week. That makes two updates in one week. For free, even. I think people forget that they don't owe us anything. In fact, if they ever did want to charge for the website (perish the thought!), they could easily be millionaires. — It's dot com 19:12, 7 Apr 2005 (MDT)
- Indeed, indeed, but I've seen two updates in one week and then a new one next Monday before. But it keeps me going thinking that chances are they're just working on something that takes a long time to do. VolatileChemical 11:23, 9 Apr 2005 (MDT)
- True that. — It's dot com 12:10, 9 Apr 2005 (MDT)
- Folks, this is not the place to whine about the lack of updates. We have a forum for that. Though even there, it's obnoxious. There were no updates, let's move on with our lives. — InterruptorJones[[]] 12:16, 9 Apr 2005 (MDT)
- Hey man, I agree with you 100 percent. That's what I was trying to say with my first post up there. I think we're lucky to get any updates, ever. — It's dot com 12:42, 9 Apr 2005 (MDT)
- In response to Monsieur Jones, you may have a forum, but I was kicked off b/w frozen from it. So now, to me, it is now just a useless bunch of webpages with a prefix of "forum.hrwiki.org". And also, I've never seen a whole week without an update. So this is probably gonna be wither one really big thing, or like, ten little things. You know who I am. I'm just too lazy to log in.
- *checks update log* The last time they went a week without an update was.... the week of February 28, 2005. So either you haven't been here very long or you have a very short memory... Aurora the Homestar Coder 11:28, 10 Apr 2005 (MDT)
- Strange. I just checked. It seems that on February 10th, a new Quote of the Week, Fanstuff and Sketchbook drawing was put up, and on the 14th, secret recipes was put up. Unless you're talking about a different February 8, 2005. --VolatileChemical 15:21, 10 Apr 2005 (MTD)
- My message says the 28th of February. That week, the only updates were the weekly stuff and the message about the talk. I guess that it's strange that the quote hasn't changed, but I consider that a minor detail rather than an update...Aurora the Homestar Coder 14:45, 10 Apr 2005 (MDT)
- Oh, oh, oh! The 28th! Well, I was on Spring Break then. This is the first time this has happened to me, so I'll stay annoyed, thank you very much. --VolatileChemical 14:49, 10 Apr 2005 (MDT)
- At the risk of prolonging this discussion, I must point out that since the beginning of 2004 the length of time between updates has been two weeks on at least a dozen different occasions. (I'm not counting minor updates like Quotes of the Week. And I say at least a dozen because that number is higher if you don't count certain games like Racewalker or a couple of the Puppet Jams, which I don't.) We'll get an update when we get an update. The bottom line is, as Strong Bad would say: Keep your pants on. For real. — It's dot com 23:49, 10 Apr 2005 (MDT)
rampage
Your update page links to the Edit tab of the current StrongBad e-mail, not to its main thing. I would've fixed it (that's the virtue of a wiki), but it's not editable. 24.148.19.210 06:12, 11 Apr 2005 (MDT)
The link to rampage is set to edit the page, not view it, for some reason. This needs to be fixed.
- Maybe you need to refresh your cache. Maybe you were trying to see the page as it was being created. Either way, it works now. If you still don't see it, press CTRL+F5 to do a hard refresh. — It's dot com 08:40, 11 Apr 2005 (MDT)
- I had fixed it. I think... I expierenced the same problem, but then when tried to edit it, the link looked fine. I deleted the link and then reentered it, and that worked. --Joshua 08:41, 11 Apr 2005 (MDT)
Edit on Lil Brudder
The link to the lil brudder page goes straight to edit mode for me.
Me too
Too bad this page is locked!-The Cheat Is Not Dead
- Just do a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5). That should fix it up. →FireBird
Screenshot
Much like JoeyDay's Mock Up, should we add a small screenshot every week of the newest update, then delete it when there's another update? I think it would look good. →FireBird
- Tha'd be easy. Since we always put one pic on the top right of every toon page to best describe it, we'd just use that one. That way we don't have to upload a bunch of useless ones. Right? ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 03:25, 10 May 2005 (UTC)
To <pre> or not to <pre>?
I noticed that the new comic con note has been put it blockquotes instead of <pre> tages, yet the NYU talk a couple of months ago is in <pre> tags. Which one do we use for these types of things? →FireBird</pre>
- The NYU thing was done that way (by someone, not me) in an attempt to preserve the formatting from the Flash. Since the comic con thing was just plain ol' text in plain ol' paragraphs, I didn't see any reason to use <pre></pre>, especially since that made it widen the page and was generally ugly. — InterruptorJones 13:01, 11 May 2005 (UTC)
H*R.com Updates & Updates '05
Do these two pages really need to exist at the same time? I say we remove this one and just keep H*R.com Updates. Gafaddict 23:06, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- The reason this page exists is for future indexing. It contains all edits done in 2005. The H*R updates only has the most recent updates (about five or six months is acceptable.) →evin290
- I really think that with the new main page, this template is now unneeded, and instead we can direct users directly to Updates '05. Anybody object? ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 21:39, 23 May 2005 (UTC)
- No objections here. I think having two pages violates Once And Only Once. You have a good idea there, Thunderbird. I'm late joining the party, but I must say your contributions to the 2001-2003 updates were most appreciated, Thunderbird. —THE PAPER PREEEOW 5:08, 24 May 2005 (UTC)

Template?
Now that we have the new main page updates template, can't we just get rid of this template, and direct Wikiers directly to H*R.com updates 2005? I think it would clean up the whole updates system, make it simpler. Any objections? ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 19:03, 23 May 2005 (UTC)
RSS Feed?
Is it at all possible to make this page an RSS feed? computerdude33
- See HRWiki talk:FAQ#RSS or ATOM. -- Tom 23:48, 24 Jul 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks. -computerdude33
- Also, I found this feed, provided and hosted by theblackforge.net. More information can be found in this livejournal post, the livejournal feed page, and the livejournal feed info page. -- Tom 17:45, 2 Aug 2005 (UTC)
is it me or
are the H*R.com updates getting smaller and smaller? We have not had a short in more than 2 months!! -Kinsey
They have been focusing all of their work on the DVD, and the Strong Bad emails. Me thinks. Oh yeah, and Stinkoman too. They are just busy. Rogue Leader / (my talk)
And why does it say that when the "I'M THE HUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" quote came out the font was changed bauhaus 93. When was it not Bauhaus 93? ——↑Darklinkskywalker|Talk_|i did this stuff_↓ 14:24, 9 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Trogdor Beanie
I swear I saw this in the Store on Wednesday, was it just on display then? Or has it just been noticed. --82.32.90.55 08:18, 20 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- You know, I swear I saw this prior to Friday. I just can't remember when. I just didn't think much about it. Shame on me. —BazookaJoe 09:23, 20 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- In an effort to find the correct date of release, I've found our good friends at BHZ have documented the first sighting on Tuesday, August 16, 2005, 09:57:46 PM (my forum time), which is August 16, 8:57 PM Eastern Daylight Time, which is 00:57 UTC 17 Aug 2005. We can only assume that it came out shortly before that, on Tuesday. —BazookaJoe 10:15, 20 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Main Page Messages
What do we do to the days that have a Main Page message like "new sbemail a-comin'" and "new toon soon"? Remove them once the full update comes out or keep them? —BazookaJoe 14:19, 24 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Dude, I don't know. Really, they DO come soon. So I'll be ready when needed. The 386
- Joe- I say keep 'em. I think it's nice to keep a record of these things. —FireBird|Talk 23:20, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- Agree'd. Especially since they don't do it everytime, and sometimes the notices are interesting, like Halloween 05's "Working as Fast as we Can". On the whatsnew template for the main page, they're not needed after the toon is released. But for this page, every bit of info may as well be kept. These are not so much articles as "Archives". ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 22:03, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
- Also agree'd. — It's dot com 22:20, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
Email Rap and Random Email feature
What proof do you have that this was released on Friday, September 9? I don't remember seeing it until today. —BazookaJoe 11:51, 12 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- Did you look there September 9 and not see it? - Joshua
- I don't remember seeing it this weekend. I'm surprised it wasn't added until today. Wouldn't someone notice that before then? —BazookaJoe 15:41, 12 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- Well, the wiki was down during the weekend. Didn't you know that? - Joshua
- Find me a forum entry or anything noting this change well-prior to Sunday night (circa 0300 UTC Sept 12), and I will be content. Because I can't find any trace of anybody noticing this change before then, and I find that hard to believe. —BazookaJoe 19:37, 12 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- Somebody could have found it but never bothered to post it. But I have no proof for and against it. Who posted the update at that time? I would think it would have been released at the same time as the main page version. - Joshua
Turns out it was some IP adress. Go ahead and change it. We have no proof either way. - Joshua
- I don't know why Tom said in his edit summary, "Random toon was on Friday the 9th," but I am going to move Random Email feature and Email Rap to the Monday update. I still can't find any note about this being updated on Friday, not even from BHZ; and I am fairly confident it was still "And that's why I like to scroll with scroll buttons" when I checked it yesterday. —BazookaJoe 21:21, 12 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- The edit summary was my mistake. I didn't see the Random Button on the front page at the time, which was why I changed it back in the very next edit with an edit summary of "Okay, there we go." I think the way we have the dates now is correct, with the additions of the random stuff all happening on Monday. -- Tom 02:36, 13 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- Whew! And that's a wrap! —BazookaJoe 02:38, 13 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Active Desktop page?
Would it be possible to make an active desktop page for updates? So that it would tell you on your desktop when a new H*R update is available, and have a link directly to hrwiki.org and homestarrunner.com . . . All it would have to be would be a page with only the newest updates in a square box, small enough not to disturb the desktop.. i was thinking of just putting the whole home page of hrwiki.org as a desktop item (as its called in XP) but then it would have the whole side bar and everythign else, and is designed to be viewed full screen. Another idea is an IE toolbar that just flashes when somehting new you haven't seen has been added to the hrwiki or h*R.com. just an idea. i always go to hrwiki.org when i first get on internet explorer, but it would be cool if it tells me when something is new to save me the trouble of going there in the first place. --Collin 21:13, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- I think you might be interested in RSS. The Wikipedia article is a great resource to learn all about it and feeds exist for H*R.com and the Wiki's updates page. (Both were written and are maintained by a third party, so I don't know much about them.) -- Tom 21:42, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- no i mean like just even a simple HTML file that says the latest updates.. maybe has a h*r background.. ill make a sample page to show you what i mean. --Collin 22:46, 14 Sep 2005 (UTC)
