"And, the Goblin, he had a Gremlin!"
Behind the wheel
Not to be confused with The Goblin.

The Gremlin is an AMC Gremlin. A popular subcompact car produced in America during the 1970s, the Gremlin's retro style is fitting with many elements of Homestar Runner. It appears to be a 1973 Gremlin X model, indicated by its trim level.

The Gremlin was first introduced as a fictional vehicle owned by The Goblin, made up by Bubs; however both Goblin and Gremlin soon appeared as real things in Free Country, USA.

It is unclear who owns the Gremlin. In Where's The Cheat?, The Goblin is seen hiding underneath it. It made an appearance in the Senorial Day holiday short, mostly to give Senor Cardgage's commercial a hint of "car sales" flavor, despite the event having apparently nothing to do with selling cars. In road trip, Strong Bad has ownership of the Gremlin, likely having bought it from Bubs. However, Bubs was seen behind the wheel of the Gremlin in Blubb-O's Commercial (with the car inoperable, standing on four cinder blocks). Bubs refers to the Gremlin as his car in sbemail 206, while Coach Z refers to it as his apartment.

Strong Bad has used the car in his production of action movies, though it is infrequently seen actually driving. It has appeared as Dangeresque's car, later dubbed "DangeCar-esque", in Dangeresque 1: Dangeresque, too?, Dangeresque 3: The Criminal Projective, and Dangeresque Puppet Squad: The Hot Jones Hijack. In the action-packed credit sequence of rough copy, Strong Bad and The Cheat are seen driving the Gremlin.

It also appears in Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, but is referred to generically as "Cool Car", "hot car" (in Baddest of the Bands), or "DangeCar-esque". This is likely done for copyright reasons. In Strong Badia the Free, the Gremlin became two countries, Frontzeatserland and Hatchbackistan.

It appeared on the Everybody Everybody Poster, despite not being a character.

The car's puppet variation is a miniature model Gremlin, painted to have its distinctive white and red colors. Due to its size, Strong Bad and The Cheat are portrayed by their figurine models rather than regular puppet iterations when riding inside.

"...I mean, he had some freakin' muscle!"

In Bubs's contribution to the flashlight story in Homestarloween Party, he describes it as The Goblin's car. During his story, the Gremlin is upgraded with a great deal of features (many quoting a scene from Dazed and Confused):

When the Gremlin appears in Free Country, USA, it has never been seen with these customizations. To the contrary, it is rarely even seen to be capable of running. It has no visible door handles, and its windows and doors are broken so that they cannot be opened from the inside. It does have an eight-track player.
