By the way, I moved your discussion to the [[HRWiki_talk:FAQ#Links_using_images|FAQ]]. I didn't notice that other thread above. Oh, well. — [[User:It's dot com|It's dot com]] 02:42, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Picture Text

On my user page, I'm trying to get the text "One of My Favorite Game Consoles" underneath the picture of the Nintendo DS, but it's not working... any suggestions??? --arrow4.PNG~Rebecca~ RJMT speaker-noise.gif 19:40, 4 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Template for Customized Welcome

Am I allowed to make a template like this: "{{subst:User:RJMT/welcome|~~~~~}}" to make my own customized welcome like I saw before from someone else's talk page? --arrow4.PNG~Rebecca~ RJMT speaker-noise.gif 04:48, 5 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Yes, although the page would be at User:RJMT/welcome. The "subst" is a special command that you use once you've set up the template to copy the text of your template to the page instead of just a link to the template. It's used in cases like these. — It's dot com 04:52, 5 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Is the code that I put on my user page correct?? --arrow4.PNG~Rebecca~ RJMT speaker-noise.gif 05:31, 5 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Yes, it's just perfect. — It's dot com 12:38, 5 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Kool! Thanx! --arrow4.PNG~Rebecca~ RJMT speaker-noise.gif 18:55, 5 Aug 2005 (UTC)

3 pics on the same line

Is there any way that I can get 3 pics on the same line on my user page??? --arrow4.PNG~Rebecca~ RJMT speaker-noise.gif 18:08, 6 Aug 2005 (UTC)

At least two ways:

  • Set them up as thumbnails all with the left attribute:
Excardon me
The Poopsmith speaketh?
I remember learning that in school

  • An image gallery:

Edit your page to see the source code. — It's dot com 18:55, 6 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Kool thanx --arrow4.PNG~Rebecca~ RJMT speaker-noise.gif 20:12, 6 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I told you wrong. It should be "clear:both" instead of "clear:all". I have fixed it on this talk page and on your user page. Sorry for any confusion. — It's dot com 17:06, 15 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Your Sig

First of all, it's generally considered useful to have a link to your User and/or Talk page in your sig. Secondly, you aren't actually linking to your Contributions page properly. As I recommended here, try a link to Special:Contributions/RJMT. --Jay (Gobble) 04:04, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Hey Rebecca. I fixed your contributions link on one of the STUFF pages as well as some of the code for your color. Generally, if you want to go by a name other than your official username, then just go by it and don't worry about explaining it in a footnote. As long as you do it consistently, people will make the connection. Also, a good practice is to place long signature code on a sig template, like this: {{User:RJMT/sig}}. Then all you do to sign your name is put the braces and the code in between in your preferences. — It's dot com 04:18, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this kinda stuff. I don't exactly know what ur sayin about all that sig templates and stuff... mind if u explain it 2 me??? -~Rebecca~ Username: RJMT 04:25, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)
  1. Click on the (currently red) link in Dot com's above message.
  2. Create your sig however you want on this page.
  3. At the top of the page is a "Preferences" link. Click this.
  4. Where it says "Your nickname (for signatures)" type two curly braces, "User:RJMT/sig" (without quotes), and two closing braces.
  5. Save it. Whenever you type three or four tildes in a row, it will automatically add your sig while taking less space in the editing box. Also, if you change your sig (on the template page, not your preferences), it will change EVERY instance of your sig. --Jay (Gobble) 04:30, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)
That's awesome! Thanx! -arrow4.PNG~Rebecca~ RJMT speaker-noise.gif 04:38, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Now if only I knew where that blank line was coming from... (there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with your sig template...) --Jay (Gobble) 04:42, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Blank line?? --arrow4.PNG~Rebecca~ RJMT speaker-noise.gif 04:45, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Eh, fixed now. Either I fixed it when I made a small edit to your sig (nothing that changes its appearance) or it was just an odd glitch. --Jay (Gobble) 04:48, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Well thanx for fixing whatever it was!--arrow4.PNG~Rebecca~ RJMT speaker-noise.gif 04:49, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Link using images

I have another question about my sig! I want to put the little speaker thing from here on my sig, but I want it to link to my talk page... how would you do that?? --arrow4.PNG~Rebecca~ RJMT speaker-noise.gif 00:07, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I don't think you can use an image as a link unless it's already uploaded to the wiki. External images can only be inserted inline. — It's dot com 00:22, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)
ok I uploaded it (Speaker.gif) Now what do I do??? --arrow4.PNG~Rebecca~ RJMT speaker-noise.gif 00:31, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I think I told you wrong. Gimme just a sec... — It's dot com

Testing. — It's dot com http://clpic.newark.rutgers.edu/Portuguese/images/Speaker.gif 01:09, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Okay, so far I can get it to work for things like contributions (that's what that is above), but so far not for talk. — It's dot com

When I use the talk link, here's what I get: http://clpic.newark.rutgers.edu/Portuguese/images/Speaker.gif ← click on that link and it will take you to my talk page. I'll keep looking...

If I try to link the image to anything except a special page, it doesn't work. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if it is an actual technical limitation. Do you have an example of anyone else who has done it so I can see how it was done? — It's dot com 01:27, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Well I found one that had the pics linking to something, but they were only the special things. If you want to look at them, here's Venusy's sig. --arrow4.PNG~Rebecca~ RJMT speaker-noise.gif 16:07, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, that's the one I was using yesterday to try and make it work. Hmm. If you see another one, let me know. — It's dot com 16:15, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I tried to do that link-picture thing, and Rainer tried to help me out. His answer is here, do with it what you can. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 00:21, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Thanx! I'll try to get someone to help me with that, because I really don't understand it. Once I get an answer, I'll tell you, Some HSR themed username if you still need that info! --arrow4.PNG~Rebecca~ RJMT speaker-noise.gif 00:30, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)
That would be awesome. I got that answer and didn't get it either, and since I didn't think it was that necessary I didn't follow up, but if you get it you are far wiser than I. I offer you good fortune and encouragement on your quest. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 00:34, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Well even if I do eventually understand it, I probably would figure it out with a lot of help! --arrow4.PNG~Rebecca~ RJMT speaker-noise.gif 00:46, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)

By the way, I moved your discussion to the FAQ. I didn't notice that other thread above. Oh, well. — It's dot com 02:42, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)
