[edit]  :-O !

Your username... it baffles me! --Da M-izz-uTizzalk 22:33, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

큰 뚱뚱한 분실자 is Korean, meaning "The big fat loser". — Lapper (talk) 22:39, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
... Oh. --Da M-izz-uTizzalk 23:19, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
Looks like "square squaresquaresquare squaresquaresquare" to me... Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 01:47, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
That's cause you don't have the Korean language pack, Qermaq. (I don't either, but to me, it rather looks like "? ??? ???" for some reason.) --Y2K (15px-Crystal_Clear_app_xchat.png15px-Crystal_Clear_app_kedit.png15px-Crystal_Clear_app_email.png) 01:53, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
And I've got the squares in the title bar, and the question marks everywhere else. Either way, it poses some difficulty for those of us who are Recentchanges junkies and should probably be changed. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 02:24, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
Another point - if another user signs up with foreign characters as a username and the letter counts match this name, they will not be discernable by most users. This presents a problem in telling the two users apart. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 02:34, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

I love Korean. 큰 뚱뚱한 분실자 12:23, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Me encanta Espanol. ¤ The Dang, Pom Pom, you see that? That's a nice golbol. Talk to me. 12:50, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
ואני אוהב עברית. א.ל. קול
Not you! I should know Hebrew, but I don't. ¤ The Dang, Pom Pom, you see that? That's a nice golbol. Talk to me. 15:47, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
The thing on his page reads "Hello from that place, you are Goodbye?" In my language pack. Stongbah 18:03, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
I do not speak or write Korean, but I used to know how to type/write my name in Korean. But not anymore. Nevertheless, that's why I have the language pack installed in my computer and can read the characters just fine. I like that your username is in Korean, though a more positive name would've been nice. Are you Korean? Anyway, welcome to the wiki! --Stux 21:38, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

No. I just like Korean. 큰 뚱뚱한 분실자 19:15, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, it's a good language to like! --Stux 08:12, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Nonetheless, I'm sure you realize the predicament. If I signed up with my name in Klingon, not one user would be able to read it (unless the user had the font I specified installed). It would surprise me if there were not guidelines restricting usernames to standard English characters. (If there are not, I will lobby for them.) As much as I admire your love of language, the fact that this language's orthography is unreadable to most presents an issue, does it not? I'd advise requesting a name change. Maybe a transliteration of whatever your name is would be fine, if not a translation. Or something else entirely... it is your username, after all... though I agree with the others that have mentioned it that having a username that cannot be read by a large portion of the userbase is a Bad Thing™. –флйп БВ 11:03, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Maybe change your username to "? ??? ??? (The big fat loser)". --Y2K (15px-Crystal_Clear_app_xchat.png15px-Crystal_Clear_app_kedit.png15px-Crystal_Clear_app_email.png) 23:18, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
It is too bad that technical difficulties lead us to recommend such measures. And, given the circumstance, they are perfectly reasonable, to be honest. However may I point out:
  1. Wikipedia itself strives to be as universal as possible when handling international standards and languages (which is why they have over a hundred servers for each major language in the world), we are a smaller wiki, and as such, do not strive to achieve such lofty goals, but it has been mentioned before (I'd link but i don't remember where to), and we often try to emulate wikipedia as much as we can.
  2. Other users have adopted sigs with other international characters and added the translation in parenthesis; I don't think a name change is necessary. I recommend just a well-crafter signature for those who are internaltional-character impaired (this sig from this user is a great example). For a guide to creating signatures go here and of course please don't hesitate to ask us for help.
  3. I don't have a third point, so I'm adding this to rationalize the use of a list ;).
