[edit] Necessary?

I don't see any correlation or connection between these events. Just because it has been mentioned a few times, doesn't make it a running joke, there needs to be some common theme. — Defender1031*Talk 18:13, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Care to elaborate? They seem common enough to me. HaldoHelscome!
They are common enough, sure, but there's no common THEME to all of them. As in, there's no connection, nothing that makes me think "oh, this instance is related to the other 3". — Defender1031*Talk 19:54, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
I gotcha. I admit, the What's Her Face one was kind of a stretch, but I think the others can stay. HaldoHelscome!
You still seem to be missing the point. Just because, let's say, someone eats a sandwich, and then later, someone else eats a sandwich, does that make it a reference? It's only a reference if there is something similar about the WAY they ate the sandwich. If i'm still not making myself clear then maybe let's wait for some more opinions, maybe they can explain it better? — Defender1031*Talk 20:04, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, let's wait for some more opinions. HaldoHelscome!
I think the first two are definitely related, and if we found a third occurrence of Strong Bad or someone else hypnotizing themselves, then this would make a great article. However, the other two are a bit weak. I don't see Strong Bad hypnotizing Strong Sad. Strong Sad is only spacing out, that's not hypnosis in my book. Now, "putting a trance on this guy" sounds much more like hypnosis, and someone might add it to a well established article without a problem, but right now, it makes a questionable third occurrence. This is a cool article, and I think that one day, we will get a solid third hypnosis from TBC. But for now, the article is ahead of its time. Loafing 20:40, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Agreed, some day, this page will more than likely exist, but right now, the connection is too tenuous. — Flashfight 22:31, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
That 'some day' I spoke of earlier is today, there are more than enough instances to be shown as one of TBC's oft-used devices. KeepFlashfight 20:17, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
If you both think that some day hypnosis will be relevant, can we keep this for, say, a year and see if there IS more hypnosism before deleting it? Do you know what I'm talking about? HaldoHelscome!
That never works. Anyways, I say delete until another 3 appearances comes up. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 22:39, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Of course we can keep it... in the deleted archives. The page can be restored if it becomes relevant later. — It's dot com 22:40, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
"Deleted archives"? Seriously? HOW DO I FIND THIS HOLY PAGE?!
Waiting for a page to be relevant would be akin to making a page for EVERYTHING StroBro says and just waiting for it to become a running gag. That system would simply never work. — Flashfight 22:45, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Oh, I'm a sysop on the Simpedia (my wiki). He means if that you delete a page, you can search the page again and click on "Restore page?" little thing. It's a little complicated. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 22:46, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Okay, but is there a way to look at a page without bringing it back? HaldoHelscome!
No, you just revive the page. Whatever the last edit was, the last edit will be there. Also, you can select edits you want to be brung back, and which ones you don't want to be brung back. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 22:51, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Only sysops can see revisions of deleted pages. The closest you can get is the deletion log. --DorianGray 22:53, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

First of all, let's bring this back over here. Second, I vote keep this page. On one hand, I personally don't really like it, but on the other hand, we as a wiki seem to have an affinity for finding dumb ways to connect unrelated crap. Why should this one be any different?--.Johnny Jupiter! talk cont 00:55, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

All five articles you cited have enough entries to make the occurence ubiquitous enough to merit a page. Hypnosis is neither connected enough nor prevalent enough to merit a page at this time. A-deleted. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 03:00, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
After adding A Jorb Well Done to the list, I'd like to see this page kept. Hypnosis hasoccured at least 4 times on the website, which in my opinion merits a page. And we have lots of other activity running gags which aren't related to each other either. Keep it.The Chort 18:35, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
I relized something: look at the freakin' dates! 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006.... It just isn't reasonable to say that it won't come up again in the near future! we should keep it. HaldoHelscome!
Haldo, if in the future it becomes necessary, then we do it then. That's a non-argument, and fails to support the proposition at hand. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 02:34, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I know. Just thought I would bring it up. Kinda pointless... but I still think that the article, now that there are 4 appearences, should be kept. for now. HaldoHelscome!
I think that the current appearances are both significant enough and related enough that this page merits keeping. In three of the cases, cartoon, what i want, and Fall Float Parade, you have an unusual stimulus inducing hypnosis in a character. The A Jorb Well Done instance is a different kind of hypnosis, but equally notable. Hypnosis is an uncommon event, and I think the ways in which it is used are notable enough to give merit to this article. Trey56 23:05, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

The arguments against this page raise valid points. Many of the arguments for keeping this are weak (for example, the existence of other non-related pages or the possibility of more appearances later), and I have largely discounted these. But the other arguments for keeping have convinced me that there is no consensus to delete this article. I do think the arguments against this page as a running gag are convincing and have not really been refuted, so I have recategorized the article as a Recurring Theme instead. I'm hoping this will help assuage the concerns of those supporting deletion. Heimstern Läufer 23:52, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
