[edit] Keep?

Clapping is common both in the real world and in music. Now, quirky cases of clapping, such as Clapping Party, might be worth making this page for, but I can only think of one potential other case of that: army. Thoughts? --Jay (Talk) 22:44, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

"just the claps" is another good one... still i agree, this page should go. — Defender1031*Talk 22:45, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Yup. Nothing special here. —BazookaJoe 18:58, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Or at the very least, not enough that's special, nor any particular thread to unify the article. Heimstern Läufer 19:00, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
This isn't very good. And that's coming from me. --Jnelson09 19:51, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I don't really think this page should be here. Why on earth was it created?Religious Corn   20:44, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
There are lots of verbs. Really. Lots of 'em. Take "chasing" for example. Way more instances of chasing than there are of clapping. So, to use the words of the Review Revue, this page "misses the mark!" (And, hey, maybe "chasing" deserves a page. I mean, I'm not going to make it. I'm just saying, you know.. someone could. Yeah. Someone could.) OptimisticFool 21:31, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Delete. See HRWiki:Spoons. Homestar-Winner (talk) 21:39, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, unfortunately clapping is a very common action and doesn't warrant a separate page. Trey56 21:41, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Give it a chance

I put this up again because I didn't see it get deleted so I couldn't defend it. Please give it another chance. Though I could understand TTATO or whatever that's called Super!SantanaDuper! 23:52, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

It's spoons, and i don't see how you sould have missed it seeing as how you were the one who originally created it... — Defender1031*Talk 23:54, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] More specific?

What about Clapping to the Beat or Clapping (running gag)? Super!SantanaDuper! 23:55, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Naw. Changing the name would not change the fact that this page is too general. Homestar-Winner (talk) 23:58, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
Neither is more specific... the first is just adding words, the second is adding a disambig title, which is unnecessary. — Defender1031*Talk 23:59, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
But we could make it a less general topic. EX. "Spoons" vs. "Wooden Spoons". Right? Super!SantanaDuper! 00:01, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
"Clapping" vs. "notable instances of clapping"? Naw. — Defender1031*Talk 00:03, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
...And the first one is NOT just adding words. It IS making a less general page topic. And what's with everyone saying "naw"? It's kind of funny. Super!SantanaDuper! 00:05, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
More like "Clapping" vs. "In Sync Clapping". Super!SantanaDuper! 00:07, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Still, no (naw). It doesn't work. Homestar-Winner (talk) 00:09, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Again, clapping to a beat or in sync, or however you want to phrase it would first of all rule out clapping party, secondly it's still too general an action... like... no one's going to say that "walking" deserves a page, nor would they say "walking to the left" deserves a page. You see my point? — Defender1031*Talk 00:10, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
lol Now I'm starting to think that you guys are only being contradictory to be stubborn, not to prove a point. So do me a favor and imagine my point of view. really think about it. We know Clapping is a good idea but too broad. Why don't we try to solve the problem so that everyone is happy, instead of just saying "naw" to everything. Super!SantanaDuper! 00:16, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Oh. I get your point. But Clapping is less general than walking. Super!SantanaDuper! 00:16, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Is it? I don't think so. — Defender1031*Talk 00:17, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Actually, NO! I don't get your point. "Clapping in sync" is totally specific and prominent enough. Super!SantanaDuper! 00:19, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Where did the article?Super!SantanaDuper! 00:22, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Okay, i'll humor you... assuming for a second it IS prominent enough, which i don't think it is, give me three valid instances of it anyway... clapping party doesn't count, as it's not actually in sync... so the only other one i can think of is "just the claps". — Defender1031*Talk 00:25, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Don't play me because I don't take kindly to stuck up egotistical nerds who like to pretend they're better than other people because they rank higher on a nerdy little website like this one. But besides that, what if we kept the article "Clapping" and got rid of the "Spoons"?Super!SantanaDuper! 00:32, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
TGS 12 Valintine Song.Super!SantanaDuper! 00:32, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Excuse me, there are no ranks here, no one is playing anyone, and insulting me isn't going to help the discussion. I'm discussing the merit of the page, that's it. — Defender1031*Talk 00:32, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Okay, two can play at that game. I did not insult you specifically. The website is the only thing I insulted directly. And you did play me, you just don't know how. And there are ranks if you think about it. Also, there is that "contradiction for the heck of it" again.Super!SantanaDuper! 00:38, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
What game? I'm not playing a game, i'm discussing the merit of a page. I just asked for your idea of what information belongs on this page. Also, you DID insult me, unless you don't consider "stuck up egotistical nerd" an insult... I don't know what you mean by "contradiction for the heck of it". Now, can we please calm down and discuss this page rationally? — Defender1031*Talk 00:41, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
You don't get it...Super!SantanaDuper! 00:44, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

apparently not, would you like to explain it to me calmly and rationally? — Defender1031*Talk 00:45, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Look Satana, this isn't about peoples egos, it's about the Wiki and what articles are suitable for it, and currently we are judging this one. If you don't like it, then don't discuss it, trolling isn't going to help you, or the article, or to offend the users of this Wiki, we are cool headed people.--~ SlipStream 00:48, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
This is gonna be a long one. You sure you want to here why I'm so upset? Or, "explain it to you".Super!SantanaDuper! 00:52, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
If it pertains to this article then yes. If it's something like "my girlfriend who just broke up with me used to love to clap" then no. — Defender1031*Talk 00:54, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Whatever... Delete your little article. I'm done with all this disrespect. I can't believe you still don't get it...Super!SantanaDuper! 00:59, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Look, obviously i'm missing something important here, as i really am totally in the dark. Please, explain what's going on. — Defender1031*Talk 01:00, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
YOU ARE DISSING ME! I was about to tell you but you said it had to pertain to the article (which it did not) and then you insulted me one more time so I didn't.Super!SantanaDuper! 01:06, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Look, if it really is what i said, i apologize for being so direct, but again, such things have no real bearing on the article. I would still be willing to listen to whatever it is, if you want to talk... If you separate the issue from the article. Come on irc and i will be glad to talk to you. — Defender1031*Talk 01:09, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
What is IRC? I've always wondered but never asked.
Also, the article is dead. That is one reason I'm upset. And that I know I have no say in the matter. I talk but no one ... You know what, before I spill my heart out I'll just stop myself and go on this IRC you speak of. I hope it has free therapy. Super!SantanaDuper! 01:20, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
I'm no therapist, but i am a very good listener. Go to and join #hrwiki, then i'll talk to you there. — Defender1031*Talk 01:21, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
I can't because I have to install a plug-in but then it says that if I can prove it exists than I can install it. So... bye... if you get this than DON'T wait for me on IRC, I can't go there. Unless you know how to go...Super!SantanaDuper! 01:43, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
oh... dumb plugins... well you can AIM me then... df1986. — Defender1031*Talk 01:46, 21 October 2007 (UTC) right?
Yes, or instant messenger. — Defender1031*Talk 15:28, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Spoons?

The article name is too broad but the article has three not-too-general instances of Clapping.

[edit] Clapping

[edit] Clapping in sync/to a beat

Already that could be an okay article.

I don't think that TGS really counts, but let's see what everyone else has to say about it. — Defender1031*Talk 15:29, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Okay, Strong Bad invented a song on the spur of the moment and somehow his brothers appeared and started clapping along to it. Teen Girl Squad's invented cheer (incomplete as it was), we can only assume, was rehearsed in their own little world beforehand (as evidenced by the intro "Two, three, four"), and their claps are pretty standard to cheers. These two instances are too unrelated to indicate a trend (or running gag) for TBC. And Clapping Party? Besides not being related to clapping in rhythm, I'm thinking TBC were more likely going for a laugh in the lack of visible arms department (similar to the secret handshake in Ever and More!), rather than a laugh in the "hey, can you tell we like clapping?" department. OptimisticFool 21:23, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
This article is dead in the water. Delete already. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 23:25, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
