"Was" instead of "Were"

"How did you seen out when you was a baby?"

Sometimes, a character will say the word "was" when they should be saying "were", usually Coach Z. The phrase "when we was kids" is also spoken surprisingly frequently.

• Puppets on the Road — Homestar Runner talks about Overlook, a song that he and Mike Chapman made up "when we was kids".
• Email rampage — Strong Bad says to Strong Sad, "I didn't know you was hood!"
• Puppet Jam: Bad Jokes (DVD version) — Puppet Homestar says, "They was laughin'".
• Fall Float Parade — Coach Z apologizes to Marzipan for any inappropriate comments he might have made "while we was at commercial".
• Senorial Day (DVD commentary) — Strong Bad uses the phrase, "when we was kids".
• Happy Fireworks (DVD commentary) — Matt Chapman says, "I did most of this while you was gone, Mike!"
• Email disconnected — Coach Z says, "Sorry, Head Bad, but you was the only one competin' this year!"

• Marshie vs. Little Girl (Easter egg) — Homestar tells Little Girl, "I thought you was a little ghoul."
• Jibblies 2 — Coach Z tells Strong Bad, "I thought you was gonna dress up as the alien this year!"
• Email bike thief (DVD commentary) — Strong Bad says, "Seems like that happened when we was kids."
• Email magic trick (DVD commentary) — Matt, set to do a commentary about buried, says that Mike had a metal detector "when we was kids".

  • Coach Z says, "We was gonna burn it", referring to the effigy of The King of Town.
  • During the Cave Girl Squad, after a girl is shot by the shopper, she says "Remember when we was kids" at the beginning of her sentence.
• On Break — Coach Z says, "I didn't know you was the smokin' type!"
• Pumpkin Stencils — When the Old-Timey Strong Bad pumpkin is clicked on, The Homestar Runner says, "If I was you, and I had carved a punkin like that, I'd sneak-toe up to your house while you was sleepin'".
• Sbemail 136 Alternate Versions — At the end of the first draft, Strong Bad starts a sentence with "We was just, uh..."
• Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 17.2 — Coach Z says, "The rest I would ignore if I was you."

Variations

• In Search of the Yello Dello — Homestar says, "I think I has the solution!" This phrase is repeated in little questions by Strong Bad and Haunted Photo Booth by Strong Sad.
• The Homestarmy's slogan is "Do you has what it takes?"
• Email hremail3184 — Coach Z finishes a sentence with "but now I don't has to!"
