As with all famous cartoon character ensembles, Homestar Runner went through its fair share of line-up changes early on, before the final group of twelve main characters were chosen. The rejected characters are those who seem to have been abandoned, with very few sightings to date. Some appeared in an early toon or game, while others are only seen in the Museum Sketchbook or the Character Cards. All that is known about them for sure is that they won't be around much anymore.

Homeschool WinnerThe mysterious character of Homeschool Winner came about when a friend of the Brothers Chaps was unable to recall Homestar Runner's name. In the Club Aquatica interview, Matt recalls that his friend said: "What's your website, HomeschoolWinner.com?" Homeschool is described as "a big nerd, with maybe a creepy edge to him." The character seems to have been aborted, with few sightings to date. He first appeared and was named on the Character Cards, which are now on a secret page. He then made a cameo in one of the backgrounds of Dancin' Bubs. Humorously mentioned in the Sample of Style video on the DVD, Mike breaks the tube Matt uses to "make" Bubs' voice, and Matt says: "Great. Now we have to kill off Bubs. Just like Homeschool Winner."

The UnguraitsThe Unguraits are Nintendo-style bandits, (resembling Shy Guys and Bandits from popular Nintendo titles) that are seen in a set of Character Cards along with Homeschool Winner, shown above. The Brothers Chaps had apparently considered using them as the forces of Blue Laser in Cheat Commandos toons, but this idea appears to have been dumped. |
An Unnamed GirlThis unnamed character appears in the background of the Dancin' Bubs Game. In the Club Aquatica Interview, the interviewer refers to her as Strong Glad, but Matt Chapman never agreed that that would be the character's name. Strong Glad is really a sketch of Strong Sad with long, girly legs, seen in the Museum Sketchbook.
Dijjery-DooThe Dijjery-Doo is a character that was abandoned in the design phase because it was too "Cheat-like" and "walrus-like". It is only seen in the Museum Sketchbook. Its name comes from the didgeridoo, a traditional Australian Aboriginal instrument.
Trivia TimeTrivia Time was going to be Pom Pom's dog. Although there are some concept sketches in the Museum Sketchbook, he's never appeared directly in a Homestar cartoon because the Brothers Chaps couldn't make a good design. A cookie jar with his likeness is in a few toons, and in the Homestarloween Party, one of the girls' dog "Chris" looks a lot like Trivia Time. Trivia Time Appearances:
