![]() | Videlectrix is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute. |
What is Videlectrix?
I'm confused: Is Videlectrix the brothers Chaps, or is it some other guys they outsource the games to?
- Videlectrix is the Chaps' "company", and most Videlectrix games are credited to Matt, Jonathan, and Mike. We're not sure who Jonathan is, but I'm guessing he's a Flash guru who does some of the scripting stuff that the Chaps aren't as good at. To my knowledge they have never outsourced any of their games. -- InterruptorJones 07:29, 15 Sep 2004 (MST)
Description
Does anyone remember what the description of the Videlectrix Main Page was prior to January 14? I think this may have been before the catalog, game music and gallery sections were added, but I think there still was some text on the main page. --The Paper 10:38, 22 Mar 2005 (MST)
Revert
I don't think the music track would be a sighting... the band's track was released October 24th, 2000, but Videlectrix didn't even publicly exist until February 17, 2002, so the band's track definitely came first. --DMurphy 02:42, 27 Mar 2005 (MST)
Inside joke
- Should this really be an inside joke? It's been featured way more than 3 times. --thatkidsam 18:03, 20 May 2005 (UTC)
real world refernces
Their company may be a nod/reference to the computer/game company "Vectrex"
- I think the wanton abuse mascot is a nod to the wanton abuse the DMA Design logo got on the starting screens from Grand Theft Auto 1 to 3. -- 84.65.143.192 19:48, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
I was wondering
I was wondering if anyone knew what they used to make Peasants Quest. I really like it and would like to create my own quest; without a peasant of course.
- My guess is they used flash. It probably took a long time though. -Swimma Dan.

Who are those people in the picture? Are they Mike and Matt? --Martin925 03:22, 22 Aug 2005 (UTC)
"Recent" update
The Videlectrix server still gives the last modified date of the main page swf as "Mon, 17 Jul 2006 06:55:52 GMT"... I'm not sure what that means, but I think either there's a glitch in the server (or the matrix) making it give the wrong date (unlikely), or it hasn't actually changed, and we made a mistake in the original transcription, which was only just noticed today. Thoughts? --phlip TC 00:15, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'd like to catch the original transcriber, Venusy's thoughts, as well as if anybody remembers double checking his work at the time. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 01:16, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'm fairly sure that I made a mistake transcribing it. I seem to remember it being something like the "free clinic". I guess my brain and fingers were communicating not good that day. --

- For some reason I can remember and/or I somehow have it logged in my brain that when I expected it to say "cure", it said something else unexpected (most likely "free clinic" of course). I'm not 100% sure; the details are quite sketchy. —BazookaJoe 02:05, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hmmm... Well somehow I still have this slight nagging feeling that I remember it saying "cure" on the offial site at an earlier time, but I'm sure that's just my mind playing tricks on me. I can't fight the facts, it seems that there was simply an initial transcription mistake, and no change. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 02:55, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
Down
Yeah, I've noticed that the Videlectrix website is down. Works for anyone else? ¤ The Mü Talk to me. 01:20, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- Is it temporary or has it been completely shut down? Or do you even know in the first place? 24.48.189.235 04:14, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

- Ditto. --205.206.196.178 19:06, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- It's been down for over a month now, I think that this at least warrants some kind of mention. 131.194.93.243 20:41, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. Some paragraph in the opening section, perhaps. By the way, today (November 16 United States time) is the day that I noticed that the site went back up. It's the same day that the Videlectrix T-shirt was released, and there was a link to videlectrix.com in the store description. —BazookaJoe 01:48, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Which brothers? Sean and Graly?
On the Peasant's Quest Preview commentary, we hear:
MATT: ... That's our brothers, Sean and Grake—
MIKE: Sean and Graly. Graly.
MATT: Yeah. My moustache in those, Mike, we couldn't find the brown moustache we usually use, and so Mike Photoshopped some of my hair onto my upper lip.
MIKE: Good old stamp tool.
MATT: Looks pretty creepy if you look at it close. ...
Clearly the mention of two other brothers is a joke, as Matt continues to describe his mustache. As an edit was recently made by someone who apparently fell for the joke, thought we should have it noted here. - Qermaq - (T/C) 01:31, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Vectrex
I think this might be the inspiration. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vectrex
- Do you mean for the name, "Videlectrix"? Interesting idea. I tend to think it's just a combination of "Video" and "Electrics", with an "x" added on the end for extra cutting-edge-ness.
- By the way, for a little while I was looking at the Vectrex's graphics as a possible inspiration for StrongBadZone, but after a lot of screenshot comparisons, I decided that it's a lot more like the Virtual Boy.

Another Possible Real World Reference
Videlectrix sounds a lot like Scalectrix, also known as Scalextric, an electronic slot-car racing scheme. Normally I'd say it's just coincidence, BUT you do see Strong Bad and Homestar playing with something that looks a LOT like Scaletrix in Theme_Song_Video, so TBC do know of it's existence. -StarLion 15:30, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- But Strong Bad/Homestar playing with slot cars has nothing to do with Videlectrix. And regarding whether or not TBC know of Scal-whatever, there are many electronic slot car racing deals out there, so maybe they haven't heard of it.
OptimisticFool 15:39, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed, but the name does sound very similar, especially since the natural combination (Video + Electric = Videlectic) doesn't produce Videlectrix. It's one of those things we'll never really know without asking TBC directly, but it is a possibility. -StarLion 15:43, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Differences...
Have any of you people noticed that the Stinkoman level 1 music there is slightly different than the one in the actual game? It sounds clearer, it has a shorter intro, and the music is "doubled up" in the middle. KirbychuHR'D 20:31, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Two Kids Videlectrix
Why is there two Videlectrix for kids: Videlectrix Kidx, and Kidelectrix? It's abvios that Kidelectrix was supposed to be the kid Videlectrix, and Videlectrix Kidx has the actual full Videlectrix in it. - The Pony man 16:01, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Youtube Background
Is it notable that Videlectrix hosts the background image for the YouTube account of tdougland? ThePizz√ Pick 01:23, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
WHERE IS IT
I heard on 8-bit is enough it says trailer avgn 32x 0:48 (the song) has enough of telltale
did they do the game on this watchmen site
The graphics look totally videlectric. So does the logo. But it says Veidt entertainment? Can't find anything about it.

Videlectrix - Playable Games Should Be Split
Games included in Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People should be split into its own section if you ask me. Because I want to play the games, but don't want to spend the money for the SBCG4AP itself. ColdReactive
