[edit] Shouting

As I have already warned you in the past, please do not shout in edit summaries. Heimstern Läufer 06:48, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

If I get impatient trying to explain the obvious, so be it. This sounds less like a refutation of what I'm saying and more of a nitpick on the way I'm saying it. 0rion 06:52, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
My comment to you has nothing to do with whether or not you are right about the content in question. Rather, it is because shouting in edit summaries is uncivil and not acceptable behavior at the wiki. Your attitude of "if I get impatient, so be it" isn't OK, either. Civility is not optional, it is required. Heimstern Läufer 06:57, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

First, I want to clarify my edit summary — my meaning was "I put your talk page back", not "Put your talk page back" (command). Sorry about the confusion.

Second, aside from the whole shouting issue, the best way to handle that kind of content dispute in an article is not to engage in a revert war — it's a lot better to take it to the talk page and calmly discuss it there. After I saw the reverting going on, I created a section on the talk page as a place to resolve this. It's just not important enough to make such a big deal out of. Taking this to the talk page is a good idea. At any rate, my only problem here is that Heimstern isn't taking issue with what I said or did, but rather he is obsessing over a technicality in the way I went about doing it. And obsessing is just what I mean. Because really... all caps? Is there an all caps demon that is slowly released whenever someone "shouts" a sentence in an edit page? Come on. It's just such a ridiculous thing to quibble over. 0rion 07:24, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
I think Heimstern's comments are entirely reasonable: typing in all caps universally communicates shouting, and there's no reason to shout at other users/other users' opinions (it's a wiki about dumb animal characters, after all). That people have asked you twice on your talk page not to shout is good reason to think about toning down the intensity of some of your posts and to give them a second read to make sure you're treating other users with dignity and respect. I don't mean to make a mountain out of a molehill, though. Trey56 07:59, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
P.S. I read the comment you made on the article talk page. You expressed your point clearly and in a civil way — awesome. See ya around, Trey56 07:59, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
