[edit] Merge

Could this Be fused with Homestar Runner? --Dacheatbot · Communicate 19:51, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Or Spin My Buzzer? --DorianGray
It's more like Spin my buzzer should be merged into this.-LordQuackingstick 19:56, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
I Definately agree, since his "buzzer" is part of his hat. —Supuhstar* Image:Supuhstar(SupuhSmall).gif
I don't think so. "Spin my buzzer" is a gag of sorts. --DorianGray
But this seems more important and more general.LordQuackingstick 19:58, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to see it merged with Homestar Runner on the account of sections like "Homsar's Bowler Hat" and such. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:31, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
If we look at the deletion policy, we see that any part of a character's clothing should be merged into that character's page. For example, The Poopsmith's Shovel got merged into the Poopsmith's character page. So I say Merge into Homestar Runner! User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 16:31, April 18 2007 (UTC)
If Homsar's Bowler Hat is part of his article, Homestar's beanie should be part of his.

Now that the no hat thing has been moved here, is the merge request still needed? --Stux 20:52, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

I vote no — I don't see the "Homestar Runner without his hat" stuff as being apprapriate for Homestar Runner. Trey56 06:50, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
I vote yes, and i don't see why the no hat stuff should be a problem on the main homestsr page. DeFender1031 06:54, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
It could go on there; I just don't think it's central enough to Homestar to include on his main page. Trey56 06:56, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
I think this is another oppertunity to put a short descriptive section about H*R's hat on his page and say Main article: Homestar Runner's Hat at the top of it. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 22:24, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
I think that sounds like a reasonable solution... Trey56 22:45, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
Agree with SMB and Trey56. I'll do it ASAP. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 11:53, 25 April 2007 (UTC)}}

Keep it as it is. Homsar hat is diffent keep it User:moocowmoocow April,28,2007

That's because Homsar's Bowler Hat is more important then Homestar's Hat. Homsar's Hat is way more, oh I don't know, more active then Homestar's Hat. All Homestar's Hat does is spin it's propeller thing and we already have an article like that. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man

I would like to remind people that the inclusion policy clearly states that pieces of characters' costumes do not belong in their own articles. Merge and redirect into Homestar Runner. Bad Bad Guy 04:16, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

We should get rid of that merging template on the Homestar Runner page. It doesn't look good and Homestar Runner is a page that gets visited often by many people. Plus its been up there for a while now. Homestar-Winner (talk) 12:38, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Here's the exact quote, copied from HRWiki:Inclusion guidelines:
Any item that is part of a character's outfit or is closely related to that character (Coach Z's Z, The Poopsmith's Shovel) does not merit a page and should be merged into that character's biography page.
I'd like to see someone argue against me over that! Bad Bad Guy 18:13, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

"N-O spells no." - Homestar Runner 02:56, 15 May 2007 (UTC)me

I don't get it, why can't this be done, there shouldn't be any exceptions, so could we get an explanation as to why it can't be done? ~ SlipStream

Are you asking why it isn't being merged or why it can't have a separate article? Because I already explained why it can't be a separate article. Bad Bad Guy 20:10, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Keeping it a separate artice violates the inclusion policy and that should be the end of the story. If no one objects by Monday tommorrow I will complete the merging myself. Bad Bad Guy 14:42, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Whoa, wait, I object. <phoenixwright>OBJECTION!</phoenixwright> This article as it stands is too big to put into HR's page wholesale. And I agree with the conversation below, that the Homestar without his hat stuff makes this page more worthy to stand on its own. Also, policies are guidelines, and we can make an exception if there is a compelling reason. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 15:02, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
I agree with Homestar Coder. The article, as it stands (even with the big image removed), does not look well at all in the main Homestar Runner page. I think it's fine as its own page. I also tried the suggestion made above. --Stux 18:33, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Okay, Homestar Coder. What's your compelling reason? Bad Bad Guy 21:33, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Didn't you read what I wrote? This article is too big to fit nicely on H*R's page, and the content of "H*R without his hat" is better suited for its own page rather than being placed on H*R's character page. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 21:48, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Would it work if we made a few sentences about times Homestar went hatless instead of the list in this version? Bad Bad Guy 22:40, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps. Basically, I think that the hatless Homestar stuff is semi-nifty and also that it does not belong on Homestar's page. Why not just keep this page? It has enough content to be a page. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 22:52, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

The stub template says otherwise. I was thinking about rewording the article before merging it with the page. Like I already said twice, and someone else said before me, the inclusion policy states particular items of clothing do not belong on their own pages. Bad Bad Guy 02:40, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

My idea for a reword can already be read in the Homestar Runner article. Bad Bad Guy 02:47, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
The two examples given in HRW:IG, Coach Z's Z and The Poopsmith's Shovel, are both of only minor importance to any toons... they're a major part of the character's outfit, but that's it. Homestar's hat, however, is a major part of both Where My Hat is At? and car... it's more than just a costume feature, it's a prop, and deserves its own page. Also, as Homestar Coder said, the inclusion guidelines are guidelines, and aren't set in stone. If there's a page that clearly deserves a page, but IG says it shouldn't (or vice-versa), and there's consensus, the guidelines can be ignored (or even changed, if there's consensus to do so). Personally, I think that clause of IG should be reworded, since it even gives an example of BMW Lighter as an acceptable page, even though that item is "closely related to" Strong Bad... but it's played a part in the plot (or at least, the punchlines) of various toons, so it's given its on page. The same should happen here. --phlip TC 03:15, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Homestar without his hat: Merge

The following discussion was moved from Talk:Homestar without his hat after it was decided to merge that article with this one:
This article seems like it could fit nicely as part of Homestar's Hat. Now, there's the question about whether that article will be merged with Homestar Runner, but that's a separate issue (and perhaps with this info, an article about Homestar's hat will be significant to stand on its own). Trey56 06:59, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
I agree on both counts. Loafing 10:23, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
I agree wholeheartedly ——Supuhstar* Image:Supuhstar(SupuhSmall).gif
Ditto. --DorianGray 04:12, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] merge mania

well, I say that we merge 'spin my buzzer' but not 'naked homestar runner', because 'spin my buzzer' is somewhat related to this. what does 'naked homestar runner' have in common other than not wearing something of his? and I also say that this is merged with 'homestar runner'. I mean, they have his shirt and eyes, plus PART of his hat. why not finish the job? in closing, i say we merge 'spin my buzzer' with this one and merge this one with 'homestar runner'.

[edit] tbd?

It would appear that this article has little to no chance of deletion, since another article has already been merged into it. Therefore, I see no reason to have the {{tobediscussed}} template on this page. I shall be bold and remove it.· · T2|Things 15:49, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
