[edit] Welcome!

Hey there, Homesturk! Welcome to the Homestar Runner Wiki! I'm so glad you want to help us with our translation project. I will enable the Turkish language just as soon as I get a chance. If you need anything else, feel free to ask! Cheers! — It's dot com 17:15, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Weclome, Homesturk! I never though about Turkish as a subtitled language. It looks great! Are you from Turkey, or did you learn it? Have a good day, Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:09, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

No, didn't learn! I'm Turkish.

[edit] Signature

I need to bring one little thing to your attention. Our signature guidelines require that your signature be your name (among other things), so you need to adjust that in your preferences. Thanks! — It's dot com 17:15, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Language codes

Hey there Homesturk! Great jorb on the subtitles! However, although not probably many others think this is important, but the the ISO language code for Turkish is just "tr". Not "tr-tr", as you have previously used. Thanks a bunch, and I'll catch you later! --Sysrq868 13:28, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Welcoming system

Hey Homesturk! I'm not sure whether you know, but we subtitlers are gathering up a international welcoming page system, in all the languages we currently have subtitles for. Currently we are making a portal for all the pages, and it's prototype is at my user space here. If you'd translate the phrase "Select your language" (try to find a golden road between politeness and casualness), and replace it with the "[turkish]" that is on that page right now, it'd be great. Also, verify that we spelled "Welcome!" correctly in the menu.

Furthermore, if you ever have a lot of time (or a minute or two every day), you could start translating the Turkish welcoming page, which you can find at HRWiki:Welcome/tr. Currently it just has a trivial "we're sorry" -page; ignore it.

When you are ready, copy the entire contents of this page, and replace the current Turkish welcome page's contents with it. So, in other words, overwrite this page with this page and translate (when you have time). The welcoming pages are sort of the culmination of all the subtitles work you have done / will do in the future - not all Turkish audiences might find your subtitles without a well-done Turkish welcome page.

We currently don't have a welcoming image (the Homestar Runner gang with "Welcome!" in the appropriate language) for Turkish, but I'll see if Trey56 can do one interfrastically. Just leave it Spanish (Welcome_es.png), and when we have the Turkish image, we'll replace it.

I know that the welcome page is a massive translation project, but most users have done it/are currently doing it in small, one or two paragraph parts. You are welcome to ask me any questions or complications that you might find with the welcoming pages - I'll be glad to help.

Okay, enough text for now. Keep up the good work with the subtitles, and I'll catch you later! --Sysrq868 22:29, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I'd be happy to make that welcome image... is "İşte!" the best way to say "Welcome!" in Turkish? Thanks! Trey56 15:46, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
"Welcome" means "Hoş geldiniz!" in Turkish, as you can see in incompleted portal. Homesturk (Talk | contribs) 15:49, 14 December 2007 (UTC) (left unsigned)
Awesome, thanks! Trey56 15:53, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
Okay, here's the Turkish welcome image I made. Trey56 00:41, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Trey56, while you're on fire, you could also do the Polish welcome image too, which is another new addition to our language canon. --Sysrq868 01:00, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Ooh, I see on User:Sysrq868/HRWiki:Welcome that we know how to say, "Welcome!" in Polish now — "Witamy!" — this is the reason I didn't make it before. How confident are we in that, before I go through the trouble of making the image? Trey56 01:03, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure it is really confirmed, but you can Google it, it's pretty convincing. You can always find the Polish translators and ask them. --Sysrq868 07:05, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your signature

Hey Homesturk! I noticed that you have a signature called User:Homesturk/sig and one called Template:User.Homesturk/sig. I'm sorry, but the second one will have to be deleted because it is in the Template: namespace. Please let me know when you have saved the contents of Template:User.Homesturk/sig so I can delete it. You can do this by putting {{delete}} at the top of that page. Oh, and good jorb with the subtitles! It's great that you have started a new language, here. Awesome, to have you on board :-) Talk atcha later, Loafing 19:13, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Hey, but what about how do I create my signature in same form, you say, please? Homesturk 14:02, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
You should change your sig in your Special:Preferences preferences to be {{User:Homesturk/sig}}, instead of {{User.Homesturk/sig}} (note the : instead of a .)... then you can copy the signature code from Template:User.Homesturk/sig (which is where your sig is currently) to User:Homesturk/sig (which is where it should be), and put {{delete}} on the former. While we're at it, I should point out that having a background colour in your sig is strongly discouraged. --phlip TC 14:09, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Hey, I noticed you moved your sig to User.Homesturk/sig, but you want User:Homesturk/sig, with a colon. Cheers, --phlip TC 14:11, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for that. You should be good to go now. --phlip TC 14:36, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Hey, that's a good sign, isn't it, Phlip? I read the guidelines and saw that rules are not long text. Thanks a lot for you warned me, Philip. OK, talk atcha later. Homesturk walk&talk my subs

oh, sorry, sorry Homesturk walk&talk my subs 14:40, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

No problem. Just one final tip before I go: we tend to try to keep conversations in one place here, rather than replying on each other's talk pages. Just makes things easier to follow. --phlip TC 14:42, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
