Homestar and Strong Bad as enemies.

Homestar Runner and Strong Bad have had an interesting relationship over the course of HomestarRunner.com's existence. While they were originally conceived as enemies, Homestar has become a less heroic character over time and has taken the "lovable oaf" position, trying to be Strong Bad's friend. Strong Bad, on the other hand, now sees him as more of an annoyance than an arch-enemy, and we have seen that he actually has a soft side for the terrific athlete.

Homestar and Strong Bad's Rivalry

For the first couple of years of the cartoon, Homestar and Strong Bad were rivals, Homestar being the hero and Strong Bad the antagonist. This was a recurring theme, but any rivalry between the two is very small now.

  • Marshmallow's Last Stand — The whole toon is built around Homestar and Strong Bad in a tag-team wrestling match after Strong Bad took Homestar's star off his shirt. In the end, Homestar and Pom Pom come away victorious.
  • The Reddest Radish — Homestar and Strong Bad fight over what they believe is the reddest radish. Strong Bad stole it from Marzipan so he can win the contest, and Homestar wants to give it back.
  • Email invisibility — An invisible Strong Bad punches Homestar in the gut.
  • Email your friends — Strong Bad attempts to make Homestar put his head in a pool of hot lava.
  • Email techno — Strong Bad tells The Cheat to break a glowstick open and pour it into Homestar's Mountain Dew.
  • Email crazy cartoonPowered by The Cheat Strong Bad kicks Powered by The Cheat Homestar in the face ten times.
  • Email milePBTC Strong Bad trips PBTC Homestar when cart-wheeling past him.
  • Email army — The Homestarmy attempts to invade Strong Badia, with minimal success.
  • Email stupid stuff — Homestar cheats Strong Bad out of the Grumblecakes by tricking him into saying something stupid.
  • Email car — Strong Bad "tricks out his fist" and punches Homestar in the face, leaving him dazed and confused.
  • Email pom pom — Strong Bad thinks Homestar is Pom Pom and pokes him with a pin.
  • Email old comics — In The Castlefunnies, Strong Bad punches Homestar in the face.
  • Email lady...ing — An email that is a parody of Marshmallow's Last Stand, Strong Bad kicks Homestar off the screen.
  • Email secret recipes — Strong Bad gives Homestar some cottage cheese and The Cheat hair, which Homestar says that he was told it was sour cream and The Cheat hair.
  • New Boots — PBTC Strong Bad trips PBTC Homestar, then has PBTC The Cheat pours hot soup in his eyes.
  • Halloween Potion-ma-jig — Strong Bad tells The Cheat to drop a TV on Homestar when he jumps from the cliff.
  • Strong Bad's Room Main Page — Strong Bad announces, of a dart-ridden Homestar poster, "Oh, man, I hate this guy!"

Homestar Runner and Strong Bad's Friendship

Homestar and Strong Bad have also been depicted as friends. Homestar also tries to hang out with Strong Bad, his brothers and The Cheat occasionally, but not always successfully. This is paralleled with 1-Up's attempts to "be the guy" with Stinkoman.
