Aliases Used in Prank Calls

Alias magnet

Beginning in Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 1.0, Strong Bad has repeatedly prank-called Marzipan and tried to deceive her by pretending to be (and referencing) various fake personae. Although many of his pranks involve impersonating known characters, these aliases represent unknown persons whose very names betray the deception — especially those with the telltale "-body" ending.

In Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 10.2, Strong Bad tried to pass along his craft to Homestar Runner, with pathetic results. Homestar, Marzipan, and others have also used a few ridiculous aliases of their own, often not in Marzipan's Answering Machine toons.

Although the callers sometimes slip up and unintentionally betray their true identities, in most cases they attempt to maintain the charade of the alias. Notable exceptions include Goatface admitting to being Strong Bad (presumably so he can deliver his insult more directly) and Dead Guy Perez slipping back into Homestar's voice.

Most of these aliases are also considered nicknames for the related characters.

Goatface

Goatface is not a man that has a face like a goat's face, or even a man with a goat-like head. Rather, Goatface is a man with an entire goat as his face, as laboriously described by Strong Bad in Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 12.2 during a prank call. Strong Bad had invented both the moniker and the physiological description as part of a prankish insult of Marzipan's looks, though at the end he gives up the disguise and declares Marzipan ugly. In the message, Strong Bad claimed that his number was "hee-haw", which is the sound that a donkey makes. A goat makes a "baah" sound, much like a sheep. The prank took on a life of its own when Homestar somehow hears about The Goatface Club (invented as part of Strong Bad's prank call) and demands to be informed about it. Eventually Homestar gets so worked up that he starts calling himself "Goatface Killa." "Goatface Killa" itself is a reference to the rapper of a similar name.
