{Cut to a scene with The Homestar Runner, Fat Dudley and Old-Timey Marzipan, standing in a field. When voices speak, they are crackly and difficult to understand.}

THE HOMESTAR RUNNER: Let's make soup.

OLD-TIMEY MARZIPAN: What type?

FAT DUDLEY: {Flaps his hands and makes musical noises}

THE HOMESTAR RUNNER: Parsnip soup it is.

{There are a few flashes and changes in position on the part of the characters, suggesting that several takes were required to get this scene right.}

OLD-TIMEY MARZIPAN: Let's make soup!

{Marzipan's image can be seen reflected in a long and complicated telescope, which the camera follows until it reveals Old-Timey Strong Bad on the other end, peering out. He puts it down, looking malicious.}

OLD-TIMEY STRONG BAD: {Turning his head} Parsnip soup, eh? We'll make parsnip pie!

{The camera cuts to a position from which you can see Old-Timey Strong Bad, The Sneak and Strong Man standing in front of some very badly drawn buildings. Dramatic music begins.}

STRONG MAN: {Flexing his arms} RRAAAAHH! {The dramatic music ends.}

{Cut to a scene with The Homestar Runner, Marzipan and Fat Dudley standing in front of the 'Parsnip Depot'. A sign on it reads, "No hobos!"}

THE HOMESTAR RUNNER: This must be the depot. {says it "Day-po"}

{The three of them go into the depot together.}

{Dramatic music plays. Old-Timey Strong Bad sticks his head out of the bottom of the fence.}

OLD-TIMEY STRONG BAD: AHAHAHA!!

{Old-Timey Strong Bad's head retreats. The music stops.}

{Cut to the Parsnip Depot counter. Old-Timey Bubs shakes a cup with three pencils in it.}

OLD-TIMEY MARZIPAN: Parsnips, please.

OLD-TIMEY BUBS: {wheezily} We're all out. {He shakes the cup again.}

{Cut briefly to a scene of many tables upturned, empty of parsnips. Cut to Marzipan's shocked expression, then to The Homestar Runner's.}

THE HOMESTAR RUNNER: {Speaking in a slow monotone} Where have all the parsnips gone?

FAT DUDLEY: {makes musical noises}

{Cut to a scene showing Old-Timey Strong Bad, Strong Man and The Sneak pushing a wheelbarrow full of parsnips. The dramatic music plays once again.}

OLD-TIMEY STRONG BAD: AHAHAHA!!

{Cut to The Homestar Runner again.}

THE HOMESTAR RUNNER: {Doing a double take} Strong Bad!

{Cut back to Old-Timey Strong Bad.}

OLD-TIMEY STRONG BAD: {Brandishing a parsnip, and then throwing it away, while speaking dramatically} Now we'll have our parsnip pie, and The Homestar Runner will go hungry! It's curtains for you!

{Cut to The Homestar Runner, looking confused. There is a short pause.}

THE HOMESTAR RUNNER: What?

{Cut once again to Old-Timey Strong Bad.}

OLD-TIMEY STRONG BAD: {Brandishing an old-fashioned gun.} We'll have a duel!

{Cut to The Homestar Runner, looking just as confused.}

THE HOMESTAR RUNNER: What?

{Fade out in the form of a black circle. We see Old-Timey Strong Bad and The Homestar Runner standing with their backs facing each other, Strong Man and The Sneak on the left side (Old-Timey Strong Bad's side) and Marzipan and Fat Dudley on the right (The Homestar Runner's side ).}

OLD-TIMEY STRONG BAD: Five paces, turn and fire!

THE HOMESTAR RUNNER: {Sounding just as confused as before} What?

{Old-Timey Strong Bad starts walking away, but The Homestar Runner doesn't.}

{The sound of a record rewinding resonates briefly. The following text appears onscreen: (SCENE MISSING!)}

{An image appears of Old-Timey Strong Bad falling off a cliff. The word 'Cliff' is written on a sign at the top. His gun spirals after him.}

OLD-TIMEY STRONG BAD: {Yelling in a monotone} AAAAHHHH!!

{Cut to a scene with Old-Timey Marzipan, The Homestar Runner, Fat Dudley, Old-Timey Bubs, The Sneak and Strong Man standing at the former dueling grounds.}

EVERYONE: YAAAAAAY!!

STRONG MAN: {simultaneously} Rarr!

OLD-TIMEY STRONG BAD: {Still falling} BOOOOOOO!!

THE HOMESTAR RUNNER: Now I'll do a dance.

{The Homestar Runner does his trademark dance, to the trademark music. Fat Dudley flaps his hands and The Sneak moves his nose.}

{Once again, cut using the black circle, this time to a table with soup on it. Old-Timey Marzipan and The Homestar Runner can be seen sitting in front of the soup.}

OLD-TIMEY MARZIPAN: How's the soup?

{The Homestar Runner eats a spoonful, gags twice, then spits it out all over Fat Dudley, who was evidently sitting off-camera. Soup pours down his head.}

{Cut to a scene of the door to the room.}

SICKLY SAM: {Emerging from the door. In a weak voice...} Can you spare any mush for me?

THE HOMESTAR RUNNER: {from off-camera} Sorry, Sickly Sam, I wish you'd leave us alone.

{Sickly Sam silently sighs and disappears in a puff of smoke, to the sound of someone gasping for breath.}

{Cut back to The Homestar Runner.}

THE HOMESTAR RUNNER: Fat Dudley, you're all wet.

{Fade out with the black circle once more, this time centering on The Homestar Runner's eye, which winks.}

THE END

Easter Eggs

  • At the end click on the "D" in "end"
{Old-Timey Strong Bad is in hell with the Kaiser (dressed as Satan) and the Demon, stabbing him in the back.}
OLD-TIMEY STRONG BAD: Curses! I've gone to Hell! How unfortunate!
  • Then click on The Kaiser's head in the background and it will say "Buy U.S. Soup Bonds" in front of a faded picture of The Homestar Runner wearing an army helmet, standing in front of the American Flag, with crumpled cans of soup on the ground around him. Note that there are only eight stars (in a circular pattern) and five stripes on the flag.

Fun Facts

Trivia

  • Clicking "again" at the end actually reloads the html file instead of merely restarting the SWF. This is evident if you watch the SWF file; clicking "again" takes you to the HTML page.
  • This is the first time the Old-Timey characters' voices are heard.
  • This is listed on the Toons Menu as "the first Homestar Runner talkie". Talkies were simply movies that had sounds and voices, as opposed to music. The first talkie was The Jazz Singer in 1927, so the technology had already been around for about ten years.
  • The way The Homestar Runner pronounces "depot" is the French pronunciation. This is acceptable in that the word is derived from French.

Remarks

  • The flag in the easter egg is supposed to be based on the original US Flag. However, it has only eight stars.
  • In the Hell easter egg, the music will eventually stop after waiting for a while.

Goofs

  • When Old-Timey Strong Bad is looking through the telescope, the image of Fat Dudley, The Homestar Runner, and Old-Timey Marzipan should be reversed.
  • The Flash file for Parsnips A-Plenty is parnsips.swf , while the page filename for Parsnips A-Plenty is parsnips.html
  • While The Homestar Runner is doing a dance, Old-Timey Bubs' pencils are missing from the can he is holding.

Glitches

  • You can still click on the Kaiser's head when it says "Buy U.S. Soup Bonds". It is generally in the same spot as the Homestar Runner's helmet.

Inside References

  • The Strong Bad, Strong Man, and The Sneak stealing the parsnips in the wheelbarrow is reminiscent of the scene in The Reddest Radish where their 21st-century counterparts steal Marzipan's radish in a Radio Flyer wagon.
