[edit] Transcripts
How should we go about transcribing? Copy-pasting would go against Once And Only Once, so perhaps we could look into links or templates. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 05:50, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
- These compilation pages are a better place for transcripts than the sea of scrolling that is the tweet archives. My suggestion is to move the transcripts here under appropriate subsections, leaving behind "see Social Media Crap Compilation 1#A Decemberween Snowment". Lira (talk) 06:26, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
- I agree these compilation toon pages are a much better place for Transcripts Guybrush20X6 07:08, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
- I also agree with moving the transcripts. Shorten up those pages, legitimise these ones. Don't forget to also bring over any related fun facts! --DorianGray 10:12, 5 May 2020 (UTC)

Should there be a cat — 50.234.189.37 (Talk | contribs) 18:47, 5 May 2020 (UTC) (left unsigned)
- I'd be fine with that idea, but the more I think about it, the less I agree. For starters, the Tweets are the original sources, so it feels wrong to separate the transcript from the rest of the Tweet. By splitting up this information, people reading the @StrongBadActual articles would constantly be directed to different pages, and since some videos aren't documented in these compilations, the transcripts would be spread around somewhat arbitrarily. And where do we link if a video is referenced on an article? What if a video is different from the original (for example, the original Tweet appearing in "Weird Naked Teapot(?) Homestar")?
- I think the best option would be to create a template. It can be called {{Social Media Crap}}, and transcripts would be accessed using the first parameter ({{Social Media Crap|World Puppet Day}}).
- Edit conflict: And yes, I think there should be a cat. And maybe a category too! Either "Social Media Crap" or "Social Media Compilations".

- I'm mostly thinking about what would be easiest on the eyes and the scroll buttons. In general, I think transcripts in the middle of tables are unsightly, and especially when said tables are gargantuan already, I'll gladly take any excuse to shorten them up a bit. I don't think it's a big deal to direct readers to another article for transcripts. These videos are content; it makes sense to document them on their own page instead of right there in the tweet archives. The organization isn't arbitrary at all; it's based on whether or not a given video also appears on YouTube. If they release more compilations, we can move the other transcripts as well. Skills of an Artist worked the same way.
- As for references in articles, they should probably be in the form "Social Media Crap Compilation 1: A Decemberween Snowment". While we're at it, we could link to the original tweet under each subheading (originally posted on 8 December 2017) instead of in the fun facts, to more easily direct the reader if they want to see the original tweet.
- Category: total. Probably "Social Media Crap" to match the name of the YouTube playlist. Lira (talk) 20:01, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
- I was actually considering creating a category yesterday of just "Compilations", on the notion of being able to throw something like Exaggerations into it too, before I just added the pages to the YouTube category instead~ --DorianGray 20:06, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
- You make some good points. While there are plenty of reasons not to keep the transcripts here, there are also plenty of reasons for it, so I'd still be fine with that idea. (Also, I think keeping the category to the playlist will give it more of a focus.)

- Oh, and one more thing I didn't realize before — the Strong Badman comic has sound here, while on Twitter, it does not. And writing "In the Twitter version, it's this, but in the compilation version, it's that" in the stage directions feels awkward somehow. I still think the best solution would be to make a template for the transcripts, and shorten the Twitter tables with collapsible boxes. But since we don't have collapsible boxes yet, we can cross that collapsible bridge when we come to it.

- For that, and other instances where the YouTube version has sound that the Twitter version lacks, it's as easy as saying "see Social Media Crap Compilation 3#Unrealized Strong Badman Comic, sans audio". Other minor deviations can probably be noted similarly. That way we can keep the compilation pages focused on transcribing the compilation videos only. I'm not clear on how the template solution would address that problem any more effectively anyway. Lira (talk) 23:01, 10 May 2020 (UTC)
