Ding! Sketchbook (museum) is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

[edit] Holloween Costumes

Marzipan may be Red Riding Hood. - Faro1 I think that Marzipan is Trixie from Speed Racer, but thats just speculation. Petestar

I originally thought Penelope Pitstop from Wacky Racers... or maybe Daphne from Scooby-Doo. But, I'm probably wrong. 7omεpsilon 22:58, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

It now says on the website that she's supposed to be the girlfriend from speed racer. the "10 bucks" caption was removed

[edit] My Guesses

I don't really want ten dollars, I just want to see if I can do it.

Strong Sad - Oompa Loompa (Doopity Doo) Homestar Runner - Hellboy Marzipan - Trixie (From Speedracer, not Fairly Odd Parents. ALTHOUGH the two characters do seem to have some similarities...) Marzipan - Marge Simpson Coach Z - A...Lumberjack? Possible from Monty Python? Um... Homestar Runner - Here's another one I don't really know. Elvis? Pom Pom - As Comic Book Guy

I believe. Tell me if I'm right?

No guesses are needed. They've all been identified. See Rejected Costumes. --DorianGray 22:37, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Correct Title

Since it was never offically refered to as the "Sketchbook (museum)", and following the example of "Sketchbook (video)", this page should really be moved to "Sketchbook (museum)". I know I originally suggested the title of "Museum Sketchbook", back when a seperate title was needed, and I've regreted that decision ever since. GrapeNuts can most likely fix the redirects pretty quickly if we decide to move it anyways, but does anybody object to moving this page from "Museum Sketchbook" to "Sketchbook (museum)"? [edit] Marzipan's costume other possibility

Marzipan also looks like #3 from Cyborg 009.

[edit] Images not fair use

It looks like we should remove these images in line with Talk:Original Book#Copyright violation and Talk:Strumstar_Hammer#Images not fair use. This article pretty much includes everything the actual feature does. Trey56 06:46, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Hmm, yes... Overlooked this one, we did. Remove these images, we should. But hard to make, descriptions will be. --DorianGray 07:05, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
One of the ways Wikipedia claims fair use is by showing snapshots of the original that are way smaller in resolution (similar to what Google image search does). I think that if we delete these images and re-upload much smaller versions (in the area of 30x30 or 50x50 at the most -- the originals are currently at around 300x300) we should still be able to claim fair use and not have to think of really hard descriptions. --Stux 15:00, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Another note: the sketches in the old version all have their own pages (page 1, page 2, etc.), so we can include links directly to each page even if we don't include screenshots... Trey56 15:20, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
That's a good idea! I'm surprised they hadn't been linked to individually before. How about this:
Image Description Date
Sketchbook Page 1 Alternate designs for the Kick the Can Homestars. Jan 2000
--Stux 15:29, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I think that looks great — and it saves the trouble of having to write descriptions other than the TBC-provided ones... Trey56 15:51, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Very good idea. --DorianGray 19:19, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I've applied the table format above to the rest of the images. I think it looks good so far. All that would be left, I assume, is to mark the remaining pics up for deletion? --Stux 23:41, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Looks good! I'll delete the pics. Trey56 00:26, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, unfortunately it turns out that all but one of those images is being used in another article... what's the right thing to do here — delete them all because they're still not fair use, keep them on other pages but not this one, or overlook it and keep them on this page as well as the others? Trey56 00:52, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
In my unprofessional opinion I'd say let them be. For the most. The issue with copyright is that we were providing the entire body of work in one nice location. Since these images are used for other purposes they are not shown in a single collection, so a fair use violation might not be happening. Anywho, if there are images used in only one or two of those pages and these can be replaced with other images, perhaps we can delete a couple of the pictures an be on more solid ground with fair use. --Stux 01:17, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
That sounds pretty reasonable, I think... Trey56 01:23, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
EDC: Although the other pics cannot be deleted, the following two pictures can be removed:
--Stux 01:26, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
I've changed history and the files are ready for removal. --Stux 01:31, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Cool — I'm going to leave them be for now; they're not hurting anything just sitting on the server, as long as they're not all presented in the same place. That way, if we want them later, they'll be easy to find. Whee! Trey56 01:41, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Next and Back

I found next.jpg and back.jpg; they appear to also be loaded in the Flash file of the "Updated sketchbook" .. but it seems like I've seen them used somewhere else. Anyone have any ideas? If they're not used anywhere else, they should probably be put in this list. OptimisticFool 04:26, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

I also feel like i've seen them... i thought maybe Homestar Talker but the arrow there just says "surprise"... — Defender1031*Talk 04:31, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
They're also used in the Museum files for the Original Book and Where My Hat Is At?. --DorianGray 04:42, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I don't find anywhere that the old page for "Where My Hat Is At?" is linked to from anywhere on the site. Does that qualify it (as a whole) for Secret Page status? Or am I just wrong? OptimisticFool 04:53, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
