Fourth Wall Breaks?

Hey Heimstern, I was just looking around the list of articles that need cleaning-up and I noticed that Fourth Wall Breaks is on there. When you look at its talk page, it says that it's a featured article. Just curious, but why is it a featured article if it's marked for cleanup? -TVK 06:17, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Well, the problems that need cleanup may have developed after the article was featured, or it may simply be that we noticed problems that we didn't notice at the time of the feature. Note that we aren't quite as strict about the quality of our featured articles as Wikipedia is, also. Heimstern Läufer 18:39, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Gotcha. I'm just used to 'kipedia I guess, but thanks for the update!

Sandbox thing

How do I at least get the CODE for my sandbox thing back after that guy got rid of it? Can you please help me? Acam30 04:46, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

You can find in this revision. Heimstern Läufer 04:47, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
Yes, thank you. I figured it out. Acam30 04:48, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
Incidentally, Heimstern's post there points out a useful feature. Namely, you don't have to keep reverting the sandbox to any particular revision (and getting worked up in the process) in order for GreenHelmet to see it. Just use the permanent link. — It's dot com 04:52, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

I should have known...

H*Bad was banned here, too. *wry smile* -- Alex H.

Yes, that's true. Heimstern Läufer 04:01, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

German

Marshie is saying "You can't destroy me!". I believe it's from the sbmail candy bar. Ivoj Nob(HAP-E*HOLIDAYS) 18:49, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Yes. Though that quote had already been translated previously. Still, good work. Heimstern Läufer 01:00, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Complaint from Homsarstrongbad150

i already told you peoples why i edited my page is because i thought i never got a reply that mike sent and he was clearly online because i saw him edit a page. most people check their e-mail daily. technically, you're not it's dot com, so you weren't asked to not block me, but i had a good reason this time. on top of that, it is my page, so why should i not be able to edit it. someone get Q over here. he'll agree that thinking the email was missing somewhere in the internet is a good enough reason to post there. and it is MY page. i should be able to use it. get Q over here. he'll agree. we're buds. he's on my cool users list. y'know what? i'm going to get Q, and i'm going to see what joeyday thinks of you. yeah, that's right. i'm going to the top, asking the big man. this was one edit, do you get it? i think i never got the reply to my email, so i asked, and now i can't use my own talk page for 2 days. so i did try not to post there. i had a legit reason to this time. that was a good question.

"thanks a lot", says HSB150Homsarstrongbad150Homestar Runner!! 03:11, 19 October 2008 (UTC) sarcastically and angrily

I know perfectly well that you've told us why you edited your talk page. Your reason was not acceptable. The fact that you are having email problems or that Michael did not reply as quickly as you thought he should have does not mean we have to let you use HRWiki as a messaging service. As for your assertion that it's your talk page, you are entirely mistaken. Your talk page does not belong to you, it belongs to the entire wiki, and therefore it's subject to all the wiki's guidelines and policies. Your use of your talkpage is a privilege, and, since you abused that privilege, it was revoked. Call for Qermaq, JoeyDay, Tom, whoever to look over my edits and admin actions as much as you want; I believe they stand on their own and that most users will completely understand. You, by contrast, have taken actions that have gotten you blocked for a week. And did you notice that no one is defending you? That should cause you to think that just maybe you might be in the wrong, and not me, Phlip, Dot com and others who've warned and taken administrative action against you. Please realize also that if you return to this behaviour after your block is over, you can expect to be blocked again for longer (possibly indefinitely). Heimstern Läufer 06:24, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Hate to break it to you, Homsarstrongbad150, but Heimi is 100% in the good here. You were not requested to avoid chat on your user talk if it was convenient - you were told absolutely that a consequence was awaiting further misuse of the talk, and when that happened you got that consequence. There's really no wiggle room here. Specific behavior was expected of you, and you didn't demonstrate it. Hopefully in the next days you can cool off a little and come back prepared to follow the standards, policies and guidelines we all share here in order to make it pleasant for all the users. Just wondering...

Is referring to someone "n00b" considered flaming? I've been careful to restrain myself, but I was just curious. Something tells me it's not a good idea. ~That Guy Over There (User talk:That Guy Over There) 04:27, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

I was just going down my user talk page recently and discovered that I left this question unanswered. Sorry about that, I forgot; didn't mean to ignore you or anything. Anyway, I'm not sure "n00b" is always flaming, but it's pretty much never a nice word, so I would advise against using it. "Newbie" can be a nice alternative sometimes, incidentally. Heimstern Läufer 11:13, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
I actually prefer avoiding calling attention to it altogether - just say "I know this is new for you" or "It's clear you are like me when I first edited a wiki" or something. Particularly with a 'newbie', one should avoid language that might exclude and might telegraph their possible inferiority. They probably feel like an outsider, and the goal is to make them feel like they are welcome to edit as much as any insider. The language we use should reflect that.
