[edit] Email closing

Hey, has anyone noticed that a lot of times when someone signs their email like this:
James,
New York
or Kaitlin,
Massachussetts
(etc)
Strong Bad misinterprets their place as their name? And he must think that their name was the closing, you know like sincerely, or the dreaded crapfully yours. - Miss Free Country USA

I'd say it's just SB being himself and not giving the email writer verbal credit, or otherwise deliberately playing with the name as opposed to him accidentally misinterpreting something. For example, in Crazy Cartoon, he refuses to call the author "Monkeydude," changing it to "Josh" instead. --Southpaw018 20:50, 9 Nov 2004 (MST)

The fact that it's Boston might have something to do with it. It's like in The House that Gave Sucky Treats where Coach Z refers to somebody from Boston as "Boston."

[edit] That Game

Am I correct in thinking that there used to be a "reward" when you got 20 on Homestar's "Sid" game (which just took you back to the final section of the email)? --Upsilon

[edit] Struck

An unregistered user added <strike> tags around a sentence under the "DVD Version" header. I'm thinking it was either troll activity, in which case the tags should be removed, or the edit was legitimate and the user simply didn't understand that the sentence should be deleted, not struck. Can someone who owns the DVD verify this for me and/or make the appropriate edit? Thanks. JoeyDay (Talk) 12:08, 10 Dec 2004 (MST)

[edit] Ren & Stimpy XR

The logo for the Extra Real Dating Sim XR is based on the logo for the Nickelodeon cartoon "Ren & Stimpy".

  • Decline. Close, but no cigar. It doesn't even use the Ren & Stimpy font. --Trogga 17:24, 8 Apr 2005 (MDT)
  • Weak Second. Hmmm... but I don't really see how this would be a fun fact... the spludge 20:28, 8 Apr 2005 (CST)
  • decline.exe Seriously, if this was any more of a stretch, it could reach Mars. ... Yeah, that was bad. Rudeboy87 20:44, 8 Apr 2005 (MDT)
  • DOUBLE DECLINE!!! Along with "seconding" with the above, I was a die-hard Ren & Stimpy fan when they still showed it, and I don't remember anything vaguely remotely relating to the sim. Even if there was, it's more of a stretch than Silly Putty . Cheatachu72

[edit] Don't touch that transcript

Okay, I've done the DVD commentary transcript, but it's currently only on paper. I've got some work to do tonight, so I may not be able to put it on the comp tonight, but either way, don't start on it if you're thinking of doing such, as it's already done. Suicune64 23:46, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Tire

The Cheat touches the tire and gets a shock. However, the tire is made of rubber and rubber doesn't conduct electricity.

How do we know that the tire is made of rubber? ^_^ Gus 02:58, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

It may be covered with water. Bluebry 03:00, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
The point is, which bits are speculation and which are just rational logic and natural assumption. --DorianGray
It's a cartoon. Where's the wires to electrify the tire? It's all a bunch of comedy. Comments like this overthink IMO. In the joke, it does electrocute TC. That's all that needs to be said. How does his head explode when SM eats rocks and a can of soda? Same answer. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 05:46, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Computers With Bits In Them

With regards to [these two]: Both the remark and the comment confuse things here. Fundamentally, there is a difference between the CPU architecture and the color depth, and both have features that are described in amount of bits. The Compy has a 386 processor, which has a 32 bit architecture. It was common for 386 machines to have SVGA graphics cards, that would display images in highcolor (16 bits). But even with an 8 bit palletted system, an SVGA card would have easily been able to display the graphics that Strong Bad conjured up on his screen. Modern computers have a colour depth of 24 bits and a 64 bit CPU architecture. "64-bit graphics" is not something that exists.  Loafing

I added the word "usually", as this is a rare occurrence when Strong Bad's computer actually has more modern graphics. Retromaniac 17:26, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
Dude, I summarize: The game graphics could have been achieved in paletted 8 bit graphics. And 64 bit graphics don't exist. Loafing 21:39, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
And I added a goof concerning the resolution. Maybe that's what you meant?  Loafing 22:30, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] So Many Refs, So Little Good Refs

Um... Is it just me, or are the Bear-Shark real world refs bordering on TTATOT? Coz there's, like, three of 'em... It's entirely possible one of them is a legit ref, I suppose, but surely not all of them? Should any of them be mentioned? If so, what ones? Do I ask too many questions at one time? --DorianGray

[edit] Possible glitch?

So I watched the email. I clicked on "lurking horrors", "super mud" and then "that game". After I got a score of 3 on Homestar's game, I hit "back" to play the dating sim game. I clicked on it and nothing showed up. Is this a glitch or an isolated event?

I tried all of that, and it worked for me... so I'd say "isolated event"... unless maybe you have some kind of popup blocker installed and it's stopping the dating sim game from coming up? --phlip TC 02:01, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] How do we know about the kids game?

How do we know where the Sid Hoffman/Frenchman game came from? There is no cited interview or anything. 24.47.220.59 02:11, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

A search shows nothing, too. Maybe it's one of those interviews we couldn't transcribe. (Maybe it's nonsense.) --DorianGray 02:15, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Maybe we should delete it? 24.47.220.59 17:31, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Now now, don't be hasty. There has to be some reason it's there. I'ma go do some hardcore Googling for the answer. Bluebry 17:36, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
A little searchings of the history of Homestar's "Sid" Game gives a revision done by Has Matt? on Feb. 8 2006 saying that the fact was first seen on date. So we know to search through date's history, on or before Feb 8 06. In fact, it came as early as January 05, by an anonymous IP. There's no edit summary, and therefore no source. So, yeah, this is getting removed unless someone finds the source. Bluebry 17:50, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Come now, you guys. What kind of fans are you? It's from the DVD commentary, which is transcribed right on the page! Okay, never mind. I just read it again and it's not there. I don't have my DVDs with me or I'd check it myself, but I know that I've heard them talk about it. —Zelinda 19:39, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Glitches

"The table appears to be levitating, as there is no leg in the middle holding it up. One may think that Marzipan's dress is concealing it, but when Homestar kicks Marzipan in the shins her dress moves to the right just enough to show that there is no leg." Are we sure that the table has a leg? It is shown in other cartoons? It could be side-mounted

[edit] Eyelid goof

On SB's black and white TV monitor, Marzipan's eyelids are pink when she blinks. Just thought it might be worth a mention.--76.19.238.172 04:50, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Yep, it's actually already noted in Glitches. --DorianGray 04:52, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Chongqing is a city in China. is there any chance homestar said Chongqing instead of chun king in that easter egg? The Knights Who Say Ni 01:57, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Dating Sim

I think we should mention, either in this article or the Dating Sim's article, that the name "Dating Sim" is a reference to The Sims games. --JohnnyLurg 11:05, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Except The Sims is a franchise of 2000. TBC tends to do early 1990s and earlier references. Also see this: Dating sim This Wikipedia article may have content not suitable for children. Viewer discretion is advised. Suggestive ThemesNgamer01 17:43, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Date program link

Just checked again. The text appears and it's clickable, but I can click on it all day and no Date simulator comes up. Firefox latest version on Vista. 96.240.226.2 23:18, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

[edit] Real people

Are Sid Hoffman and Sid Frenchman real people? Wolf O'Donnel 17:34, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

The names are generic enough that they probably do, but Wikipedia has no pages for any specific Sid Hoffrenchmen. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 17:56, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
