Ding! They Might Be Giants is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

I was so happy that the John decided to work with homestar. but i'm also so confused. I mean, really... but mostly i'm just so happy that TMBG has a new video out! It's amazing!!! ~Rinzii

[edit] The Actual Band

TMBG is, has always been, and always will be just John Linnell and John Flansburgh. Look at the arguments here. That brings me around to a question: Shouldn't we change it? I'm not saying we should remove any mention of the "Band of Dans" as they are called, but they ought to be listed separately. Input requested. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 06:00, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

Put another way, TMBG has always been John Flansburgh and John Linnell and currently, TMBG records and tours with Marty Beller on drums, Dan Miller on guitar, and Danny Weinkauf on bass. [1] I'm sure the wording on our article could use a change, but remember that in the context of TMBG's work with The Brothers Chaps, it's always been the five that are listed. -- Tom 06:10, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] When Worlds Collide

I think that it's great that TMBG & The Brothers Chaps got together because they're all geniuses in their fields with similar sensibilties that makes their work so compatible, introducing so many fans of one or the other to a new world of entertainment.

There was, of course already an overlap in the fanbase prior to TMBG & h*r's collaberations. Via SBEmail and even more so the Experimental Film video and the Puppet Jams, a lot of Homestar fans were introduced to TMBG and a lot of TMBG fans were introduced to Homestar Runner. I was one of the latter, having watched my first toon, SBEmail #99 in March '04 after receiving a TMBG e-mail newsletter inviting me to do just that.

Well before the Experimental Film video came around, I had watched every toon on the site.

I hope that these guys get together again, and soon. Don't you?? --TDK 18:18, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

You know, I was just thinking that. I was a H*R fan just finding out about TMBG, though I heard a promotional song for Courage the Cowardly Dog on Cartoon Network like... 3 years earlier. So yeah, I really hope they work together soon. And I really can't wait 'till my new H*R DVD comes in the mail. They have 3 new puppet jams! Tryin' not to sound nerdy, --MrsCommanderson 00:36, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] This Might Be a Wiki

Arrrgh! This Might Be a Wiki is down! I hope they get it back up soon. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 09:20, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

ACupOfCoffee: {reading} This Account Has Been Suspended. Please contact the billing/support department as soon as possible. {starts freaking out} AAAAAAHHHHHH!!! What happened to my second favorite wiki!? Where did it go? Is this some kind of cruel joke? — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 10:47, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

Okay, so it's back up with notice:
Shared web hosting sucks. Two of my sites, including this one, were down for a few days as the result of them using a high amount of CPU. We're still researching the cause, and may eventually move the service to something more stable, but for now we're back up and operating normally. Sorry for the inconvenince, and thanks to you who cared enough to send multiple text messages to my mobile phone reminding me to pay the wiki bill. :)

[edit] TMBG and SB at recent show

According to [2], TMBG performed fhqwgads with Strong Bad. Not much info on there now.

I was wrong about the song. It was "Everybody to the Limit."
Same song, ;-) — Bassbone (TALK Strong Mad Has a Posse CONT) 02:32, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Oh. Wow. Duh. I so knew that.
I found a couple photos. Neither of which we can use without permission. I'll get our PR guy to handle that. -- Tom 06:31, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Grrr...

I am so mad right now. TMBG are going to be playing at the Tulip Fest in Albany on Saturday (a half an hour drive from my house) and I'm going to be at a band competition. DBK! 23:42, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

To play in a great band or to hear a great band - not that hard of a choice to me! Play well! Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 23:52, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Linnell talks about h*r

On a Paste Culture Club Podcast a week or so ago. [3]

I listened it. It's in the vary end of the interview part. They talk for half a minute about TMBG Concert - 3 May 2006 and what Strong Bad sang there. No new info or anything. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 08:12, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Picture...

Does anybody have the picture of John Flansburgh in the Homsar shirt? I'm kind of curious aboot that... Hagurumon 00:00, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Mmhmm, I'd like to see that too. If anybody has it anyway... --MrsCommanderson 01:38, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New video.

The video for Figure Eight is no longer upcoming. I own the DVD and have seen it (It's pretty cool; they even re-used the "it's a lion!" thing. Too bad kids wouldn't get the joke.). Should there be a page here for it? Hagurumon 21:30, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

I think the best place for general info about the video is the Figure Eight article at This Might be a Wiki. They even reference our transcript of the preview of the video when The Brothers Chaps showed it at Georgia Tech - 26 Apr 2007. For our purposes, the collaboration note here seems like enough, seeing as how it doesn't contain any Homestar Runner characters or take place within the Homestar Runner universe. -- Tom 22:55, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Homsar sighting on official Youtube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcJLvhkQfT4 The official YouTube upload of Charleston (Music Farm) has a still frame for its video, in which a Homsar shirt is clearly visible. I don't know if that goes here, in Musical Sightings, or in Website Sightings.

Since TMBG sightings are here and seem not to be on the sightings pages, I'd lean toward putting this one here, though I wouldn't object if someone wanted to put this and Marty's Coach Z shirt in Musical Sightings as well. DEI DAT VMdatvm center\super contra 02:33, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

[edit] Hank T. Linens Jr.

Should we add the fact that John Linnell's son, Henry Linnell, playtested Trogdor!! The Board Game? I think we should. And make a page for Pendelton Ward, (who also playtested it) but maybe we'll have to wait until he actually shows up in something. --J∃ffJMan 12:07, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

[edit] Five Editeresques?

Hey, HoveringSombrero, why'd you make there be six edit links in a row? Also have we consulted on the Halloween Hide and Seek Reference yet as a wiki? Hover on ----J∃ffJMan 13:09, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

Firstly, I don't know what you mean by six edit links. Secondly, it seems very likely given that a) SB says it twice, a la John Linnell, b) TBC are They Might Be Giants fans, c) that song is quite a popular TMBG song. — HoveringSombrero (talk) 14:14, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

[edit] Ballad ogf the Sneak.

In the DVD transcript, the Chapmans said that TMBG wrote the song.
