Ding! The Best Decemberween Ever is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

should we remove the "the cheat's head exploding is a reference to the smurfs" reference? at the time it might possibly have made sense, but in all reality it led to the running gag of The Cheat's Head Exploding -DJ Teh Cheat

I figured my one edit would get junked. Just to defend myself, I'll put up this link. I was in no way trying to be offensive with my edit and I seriously did look it up before I made the change. --TheNintenGenius 12:28, 21 Sep 2004 (MST)

And I looked it up after I made the edit and, to my chagrin, found that you're mostly right. Still, I'm fairly certain that what Marzipan actually says "juice". -- InterruptorJones 12:39, 21 Sep 2004 (MST)

Speaking of things, I think I may have found a potential linking problem, since my link to the Wikipedia above doesn't seem to want to work for me. Either that, or I'm tired and not thinking straight. --TheNintenGenius 12:31, 21 Sep 2004 (MST)

This is documented. "In the URL all symbols must be among: A-Z a-z 0-9 ._\/~%-+&#?!=()@ \x80-\xFF. If a URL contains a different character it should be converted; for example, ^ has to be written %5E (to be looked up in ASCII). A blank space can also be converted into an underscore." The apostrophe is where you run into this most frequently, and so for your future notice, %27 is the encoding for apostrophe. -- InterruptorJones 12:39, 21 Sep 2004 (MST)
Ahhh, I was WONDERING why it wasn't working. I guess for all my linking to the Wikipedia (and work on various Wiki sites), I'd never had to link to an article with an apostrophe in it before. Thanks. --TheNintenGenius 12:45, 21 Sep 2004 (MST)
[[Wikipedia:Jew's harp|Jew's harp]] also works: Jew's harp. -- Tom 12:51, 21 Sep 2004 (MST)
Hey, since when do Interwiki links work here? I thought I tested that. Anyway, I wanted to point out, TNG, that the encoding is only necessary with external URL links, not to regular Wiki links. -- InterruptorJones 12:53, 21 Sep 2004 (MST)

[edit] Bother vs Spy on

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Like, I don't even want to see what you got me this year.
MARZIPAN: Why don't you go [bother/spy on] someone else?!

It doesn't sound at all like "bother" to me. And despite what Jay says, "spy on" does make sense in this context, since you might spy on someone to find out what they're getting you for Decemberween. Homestar says that he doesn't want to know what Marzipan's getting him, but it's possible that she doesn't believe him when she snaps at him.

Actually, now that I watch it again, it sounds more like "buy him". It still doesn't sound like "bother".

I just listened to it again, with my volume all the way up, and I SWEAR I can only hear "bother". And I disagree, Homestar isn't asking what Marzipan is giving him, and he's bothering her. And he doesn't spy on anyone, despite saying that it's a "good idea". --Jay 14:46, 25 Jan 2005 (MST)

[edit] Snoopy kills bunnies--wait--

Whoa now; this edit ain't so simple. I have a mild allergy to STUFF and would rather see if it can be resolved here than start the STUFF process on it, but it introduces a significant new claim of reference into an already established reference. Zillions of people think Christmas is too commercial, and this seems to simply be referencing that, while Peanuts simultaneously referenced it. If Charlie Brown made signs to picket Snoopy that would be another matter. Thoughts? —AbdiViklas 04:39, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Closed STUFF

[edit] Just humming along? (DECLINED)

The Poopsmith is in the crowd of singers at the end; however, he has taken a vow of silence, and therefore cannot sing.

  • Weak Accept I'm not sure if this is really worth pointing out but hey... it's true. Dasrik 23:35, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Decline True, but pointless. These should be fun facts, right? Eritain the Peculiar 00:16, 14 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Decline The same could be said for the ending of Rock Opera. Remember, they're supposed to be "Fun facts" not "lets nit pick every little detail facts". Donny vs Universe
  • Accept This would make a good remark, yes. »ßenit, known as señor« 15:14, 14 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Accept. Just as long as it's listed as a Fun Fact and not a Goof, I find it okay. It's not a Goof simply because he could be lip syncing and not really making any vocal sound. --Upset_Your_Balance 17:04, 14 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Decline Yes, he's there. No, he's not singing. Yes, this phone is plugged in. We can tell that he's not singing by looking at him. Not fun in the least. --acekirby13|My Talk 20:09, 14 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Declome. Everyone's there, whether they want to sing or not. S-B, GmbH
  • Decline And he isn't singing so... there isn't a problem... Aurora the Homestar Coder 01:29, 15 May 2005 (UTC)
  • !d'enilceD Yeah, a lot of those people weren't even singing.
  • And what about Pom Pom? All he can do is burble. Its just not worth noting. Donny vs Universe
  • Decline. This goes without saying. -- tomstiff 13:34, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Neutral. Both sides make some pretty good points. -- Kiwi 16:43, 18 May 2005
  • Accept Yeah, that's a good fact. «Rob» 10:16, 19 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] The Brethren (DECLINED)

This is the first cartoon when the brothers Chaps refer to themselves as "Brethren" Chaps.

  • DECLINE-- It's just weird. Unsettling.
    • Whats unsettling about it?--flashstorm 12:03, 10 Mar 2005 (MST)
    • Please sign your vote. --TheEggman
  • Decline-- I don't find this item to be necessary at all. If anything, it's the *only* time, because they try to do things different with the credits with each new toon. This is, at best, a running gag, and shouldn't be placed on this toon's page. --TheEggman 09:15, 13 Mar 2005 (MST)
    • ¡Second! Just like how I try to type 'Declined' different every time. Kvb 07:34, 5 Apr 2005 (MDT)
  • Decline So? --Jay 03:21, 5 Apr 2005 (MDT)
  • Decline It's just a joke. Might become interesting if they were to continue referring to themselves that way. -- tomstiff 09:43, 11 Apr 2005 (MDT)
  • Decline I would be surprised if it were not the first time they refered to themselves as "Brethren". Theving

[edit] Earlier, Later? What?

Homestar's line, "I think if I get him the perfect present, he just might like me again", suggests that Strong Bad used to be friends with Homestar, or at least tolerated him. The email highschool might support this theory by showing them as members of a team of super-sleuths.

[edit] Marzipan's house

Are we sure that's Homestar's house at the begining? He walks out of a yellow house and then goes to the brick wall. In Kid Speedy, Homestar's ending shows him running past a brick wall and into a yellow house, which is Marzipan's. So, could the house he comes out of at the begining be Marzipan's?

But Marzipan's House is blue... Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 05:40, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

But that's at night.

Homestar's house is kinda grey at night. --DorianGray

[edit] Saving Silverman reference?

Does anyone else think that Homestar's line to Coach Z "Coach! That's your answer for everything!" might be a reference to Saving Silverman?

i think it's just a normal Homestarian thing to say. "That's your answer for everything!" isn't a very uncommon phrase, after all. — talk Bubsty edits 04:10, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Well, Coach Zed HAS been comparing things to a great sports play (you can't just rush into the score zone)... So Homestar WOULD be right, after all.

Just kiddin' wit' all the space in between. XD but, a buttdanceNeox ONION BUBS!YOU WILL RESPECT MAH AUTHORI-TAH!!!

[edit] SPECIAL intro changed on DVD version?

Does anyone have an idea why the Brothers Chaps changed the lively little music bit when the "special" thing zooms onto the screen on the DVD version? As noted on this page, the Bros. did instead a funny scat version of the tune. I have a sneaking suspicion that this music was found to be copyrighted and was changed to avoid any possible issues. Anyone agree/disagree? MooT BooXLe- 23:30 (EST) 17 June 2007

That sounds reZONable. --DorianGray 03:34, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
But do we have any proof of that? -- 14:27, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Write to Left

*Marzipan writes the "N" in the "Decemberween Kills Bunnies" sign from right to left.

This was removed from the Remarks section. Personally, I find it interesting. I didn't notice that until it was actually remarked upon. It's odd that she's technically writing it backwards, yeah? D'you think the Brothers Chaps have even noticed this? --DorianGray 05:00, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

I don't think it should be a remark, but it is kinda cool--Kanjiro talk 05:06, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Indeed. That's why I noted it here. So it would not be lost to the ages. --DorianGray 05:07, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Have you guys noticed...?

Y'know, the stuff Homestar takes out before he gets the Deep Impact would be very much liked by Strong Bad, the King of Cool:

Tag Team Wrestling
Golden, Personalized (SB) Oven Mitts
A Strong Sad voodoo doll
An autographed Peter Frampton poster

Being as stupid as usual, Homestar got a gift Strong Bad, the King of Cool obviously disliked. but, a buttdanceNeox ONION BUBS!YOU WILL RESPECT MAH AUTHORI-TAH!!!

I think that's the joke... --Big Dog 00:26, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pinky Shirt?

Is it just me, or does Homestar's shirt seem to have a pinkish tint to it?

[edit] mp3

This needs an mp3--A thang 02:31, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Then make one. You can pretty much do it with your compy's speakers counteracting as a mic, and using Sound Recorder or Audacity to record. But we probably don't need to put it on the wiki. As it's not necessary. DevonM(talk·cont-ribs) 02:38, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

...Aaaaaaand if you don't know how to do that, if you could respond to this post, I'll upload it on Mediafire for download. MichaelXX2 21:54, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
