Out of curiosity, how many digits of pi do you have set up in the autopipe? Or does it rely on a computer generated number from a PHP math function or something? {{User:Soiled Bargains/sig}} 22:39, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Special characters in article titles

I think I found a little glitch: User:Heimstern Läufer should link to Heimi's page, but instead it's redlinked and takes you straight to editing his page. I assume it's a result of the special character in the page title, but I don't know if other pages are having this same issue. Trey56 07:48, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Other examples:

Interestingly, these links work fine from Special:Listusers and Special:Search. Trey56 08:09, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

On the other hand, these links work fine, so maybe the issue is just with accented Latin and Greek characters:

Well, maybe this will help narrow down what the problem is. Trey56 08:20, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm, from my point of view, somehow it seems all those you listed seem to work except the first one. What had changed? Any way to easily fix this w/o having to file a bug report? --Stux 16:50, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
I wrote this feature; it's not standard with MediaWiki. The problems are caused by a bug in our version of MySQL. I worked around most of the cases (as you have noted), but the function still has trouble correctly interpreting non-English capital characters. My plan is to also work around at least the case above, and possibly others depending on whether we have the need. In addition, I'm going to investigate the possibility of our upgrading to the latest version of MySQL. — It's dot com 01:28, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Okay, articles with special characters at the beginning of the word are handled correctly now. I've done what I think is an exaustive test of pages with special characters in the title (see below), and they all work; since we don't have much call for non-English charactrs, I don't anticipate more problems. — It's dot com 06:27, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Nice work! Sorry to point out something that caused this much work :-\ Trey56 06:45, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Oh, it's no problem. And on the plus side, if it weren't for that one user, we might not know about the problem for quite some time, at which point it might be harder to remember how to fix the problem. — It's dot com 06:59, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Red links with links in edit summary

This edit turned perfectly working blue links into red ones. Why come? They should be automagically blue'd. Loafing 03:51, 22 May 2007 (UTC) Nevermind, fixed. Or at least, Phlip told me about the glitch. Loafing 04:03, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Loaf, if ever that happens again, just edit the whole page and click save page without changing anything. That will cause the system to reevaluate the links. — Defender1031*Talk 12:33, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

The glitch can be traced to having a link in the edit summary for the link(s) and edit in question. Fixing it is low priority right now since it's a relatively rare occurrence, but it's on the to-do list. By the way, the system reevaluates the links when the page is purged as well. — It's dot com 13:51, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
