Holy false climbing, Dangeresque!
The Brothers Chaps have made many references over the years to the famous comic book enterprise Batman, or at least the campy television show version of it, in fact professing in one of the DVD commentaries that they'd love to see the original Batman TV series released on DVD. This page lists some of the Homestarverse's more batty references.
Batsightings
- Most obvious one: Strong Bad dresses as Cesar Romero as the Joker. Cesar Romero played the Joker in the 60's television series.
- Also, Strong Bad calls the Cheat and Strong Mad his "bad pennies," which is what the Joker's henchmen were called in the television series.
- Strong Bad says "Same Strong Bad time, same Strong Bad channel," a reference to: "Same bat time, same bat channel," a line said after every episode.
- Homestar calls himself "Batman" during a bad attempt at a prank call.
- The Brothers Chaps do a version of the scene change in the television series, using Homestar Jr. instead of the Batman logo.
- Another Batman scene change, this time with Strong Bad's mask instead of the Batman logo.
- Furthermore, Strong Bad tells the Cheat to meet him up at "the Strong Bad cave," a joke on the often-repeated line, "Quick! To the batcave!"
- The scene where the two Dangeresques "climb" the skyscraper is a parody of similar scenes in the old television show.
- A sleepy Homestar calls the Cheat "Batman."
- The announcer in the beginning parodies the announcer in the television series.
- If you hover your mouse over "E-mail," the H*R logo is projected onto the night sky, similar to the Batsignal.
- The Cheat's henchman outfit may be a reference to the henchman outfits in the television show.
