Ketchup is an extremely common real-world item. It is not notable within the Homestar Runner body of work.

A generic food has to have quite a few appearances before it becomes a running gag, simply because it's generic. In this case, I agree that there aren't nearly enough. However, there is a running gag for a specific brand of ketchup: Quite Fancy 'Chup. Trey56 18:44, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Jangles, just about every long-time user has had something they worked on get deleted. It's not personal. Nobody hates you. That said, here's the problem I see with this article: On the one hand, yes, there are a lot of appearances, enough to probably justify an article, but on the other hand, ketchup is such a common real-world item that of course it shows up lots of times. Keep. This page used to be on the Food and drinks category, where it obviously didn't belong. Now that I moved it to Generic food and drinks it becomes plainly visible that this page belong in our database. There are several pages on that category that are about food items that are as generic as Ketchup, have even less appearances, and are 100% legitimate (Cake, Cinnamon, French Fries, Peas, Prawns and Tofu). Ketchup was referenced by name by several characters and even have jokes related to them (such as ketchup bombs and Strong Bad putting too much on his fries) so they are not just a background item. The Deletion Policy clearly states: "[Generic items] needs at least five to ten appearances and must be of at least moderate importance to the toon (i.e. not just in the background and never mentioned) in half of its appearances."
For all these reasons, I want to hold off the deletion of this page against consensus (Right now it's the creator of the page and I against a lot of other users) and let my point be addressed. The only reason I saw for deleting it is that it is too generic, which I clearly countered here. Let's give this page a fair trial. — Elcool ^(talk)_(contribs) 03:57, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

If we go over page guidelines, a running gag or a item should have 5-10 appearances or 1 major appearance to be a page. Ketchup fits that rule. So keep. Sam the Man

I think it should stay, or it needs a major rewrite. We also need an image, more before the list of appearances and maybe merge Quite Fancy Chup with this. Sam the Man
