::::::::::::::Yeah, that makes sense. So, this page can be renamed "Jam" and document miscellaneous uses of the word, while music-related jams can be moved to a "Variations" section on [[Number One Jams]]. {{User:Gfdgsgxgzgdrc/sig‎}} 22:03, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

[edit] Cleanup

I should note that there's another article that does the same thing that this one does. RickTommy (edits) 01:04, 11 December 2018 (UTC)

What does that have to do with cleaning up this article? The Knights Who Say Ni 01:33, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
The cleanup issue, as I understand it, is that "jam" refers both to fruit preserves and to music. Clubs is an example of another, similar article, where it refers to two different things and are both on the same page organized into sections. Whatever is decided for one makes sense for the other. Personally, I'd be in favor of making both pages disambigs and then having "Jam (food)", "Jam (music)", "Club (object)", and "Club (Place)" for the actual information. — Defender1031*Talk 14:32, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
When the anonny originally said that the article needed to be cleaned up, but that the autopipe was keeping the talk page from being created, I bypassed the autopipe to create the talk page so he could present his ideas here (which he hasn't done). I must have missed his reasoning two minutes later, which I think DF and RickTommy are referring to. The Knights Who Say Ni 15:22, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
I don’t think it’s a problem having both subjects on the same page.166.137.252.107 16:30, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
Care to elaborate? The concepts of "jam that you can spread on toast" and "jam that you can listen to while eating said toast" are in no way related. Same thing with the different meanings of club. In both cases, it just happens that there is the same word in English to describe two different things, and that both things in both cases happen to have both meanings relevant to the H*R universe. If this wiki were in another language where that was not the case, there is no question that there would be separate pages here. This question is only a discussion as the result of a quirk of our wacked-out language. As such, it really doesn't make sense to me to have them on the same page just because of a language quirk. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a sudden, inexplicable craving to have toast with jelly while listening to music. — Defender1031*Talk 17:36, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
In my opinion, the edible jam part of the page is completely unnecessary, so it may as well be removed altogether. 2 references to a common household food certainly doesn't make it noteworthy. TheThin 03:09, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
I think the jammin' tunes should be moved to a sub-section on Number One Jams, and this page should only include the fruit preserve and other type jams. And clubs should be separated into (object) and (place). ZZnMFMF.png Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 22:50, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
They're not all number one jams though. Some are jams of indeterminate number. — Defender1031*Talk 22:55, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
That's why they would be in a separate section, similar to how some pages have a "Variations" section for examples that don't quite fit. I think they're similar enough to share a page. One is music being referred to as "jams", and the other is the same thing, but with a number added. ZZnMFMF.png Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 23:31, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
So the third section of generic jams as activities could go there too. I'm not opposed, but I'm not sure what that gains over just using a plain ol' parens disambig. — Defender1031*Talk 00:01, 13 December 2018 (UTC)
With this solution, "Jam (music)" isn't needed, since it would be documented on Number One Jams. Likewise, "Jam (food)" wouldn't need parentheses, which is nice. ZZnMFMF.png Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 23:07, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
